I love content where the creator has a knack for explaining their logic and what the opponent may be thinking. And then doing that with in such a chill way, aaand playing with oldies like Stoneforge and Jace? You can’t beat that!!
@@MaxtortionMTG Well unfortunately my kid wouldn’t go to bed so I ended up too tired to do more than one round. I lost against a content creator (JamesKisau) on Grixis Control, but that was due to a skill differential more than the deck. Deck felt fine, he just always had the best card to punish my plays. I’ll have to give it some more reps to get a good indication. Certainly love the way the deck looked in your league. After playing against him I’m keen to try out Kaito in the Jace slots because that card is such a beating. Probably requires an adjustment to the creature suite, though, so I’m not sure exactly what that final list looks like.
@@jtyree0226 if a creatures would die to a kaldra’s damage, it dies and is no longer on the battlefield to be exiled. If it survives the kaldra (has 6+ toughness, for example), it would then get exiled by the kaldra trigger
I was wondering how you got your win versus Eldrazi, then saw how fast that round was and thought that would be your loss; but they just kind off... didn't.
@@bobbysprague6398 For what it’s worth, I generally agree. However, it was 2:15am when the final round started. I usually play the finals (as shown on the channel where I’ve both won and lost the finals on video), but this time, I was feeling so tired I was nauseous. Since my opponent was similarly exhausted, it was the best option for us.
Great video, very instructive. Awesome decks, always like seeing Stoneforge and Jace.
Also, I'm guessing that Pre-formal wear replaces the use for cryptic coat for grinding out games?
@@Zephromonia thanks! And exactly. Honestly, cryptic coat is still pretty good, but I’m not sure what it would be played over
Wow! So glad to have found your content!

So good. Always innovating and winning. Picking this list up to try tonight
@@anthonycarden3534 thank you! How did the deck feel?

Really cool sharing this beauty! Keep it up, buddy. Congratz!

thanks for the video! i've got a big tournament in a few days and i can't resist the mid 2010 vibes of the deck... hopefully it can compete!
Good luck! Hope it goes well :)
Great result Max, congratulations! Greetings from Spym4n (MOL) :D

Very nice ❤
Thanks 🤗
I would have lost the last match of round 6 so hard. Lovely performance!
@@MaeseEidos thank you!
the teferi + frog + stoneblade combo with formalwear looks nuts, I would wish that card was legal in modern, but I don’t think white needs any help
Don't worry, Modern Horizons 4 will have an even stronger version of the effect lol
@2:03 ish round 6 against Jeskai vial. how did you formalwear stoneforge? Shouldn’t it been exiled with Kaldra’s ability?

@@MaxtortionMTGI see. I’m assuming because of state based actions?
How do you feel about Cryptic Coat instead of the 2nd Jace? Tutoring a blue card seems valuable.
@1:58:20 why not ending on Mother of Runes first instead of second?
@@harmansidhu2459 the long term plan required getting rid of the mother of runes

Great content! This is going to trick many overly nostalgic boomers to register Jace at EW NA. Winning with "bad" decks to soften up the field?
@@quakersk8er Not if I trick myself, too!
splitting was so lame
