Very helpful - thanks Peter. one question - Can we eliminate the dial tone completely? when no other node is connected, get no tone instead of hearing the tone. Currently I'm connecting the node to another node to avoid it. But maybe you can just turn it off.
You mentioned the old allstar using the PP setup when using the desk top, do you have a video or any info on how to do that by chance? And, have you any knowledge of setting up the Hamvoip parameters to be using the header pins on a PI for keying and COS instead of doing it thru the sound fobs? Thank you sir...
The parallel port setup is legacy. I.E old software and unsupported hardware. Hamvoip and legacy software does not support use of PP hardware. No need, get a $2 USB card that is supported, as described in detail in this video.
Also Peter, WRT the tail squelch elimination, can this adjustment be used to eliminate the tail coming from a repeater? i.e. the node is receiving from a repeater which has a tail, can it shorten that?
