    Doug Crompton's Video explaining Allstar is on my channel for anyone wanting to see it. There is also an Allstar Meet & Greet Net every Saturday Night @ 10PM on the South Jersey Allstar Hub Node 44207. It was founded around the premise of helping others on Allstar learn more about it and how to operate and tweak their nodes as well as help those having issues with their nodes. We also talk about new updates and features. We are currently talking about MMDVM Boards and the Hotspots as well.

A Alinco DR-435T cost more than a FT7900 over here , if u can find them. The cheapest vhf Alinco models that i can find without db9 port are 200 usd, 170 euro.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Expected, how?
      The answer to your question is no - there are thousands of Talkgroups on DMR, no way to do a video explaining them all. But mostly they are geographically based. Some are language based. So use the correct geographical talkgroups, or language talkgroups, and you should be good, for the most part.

    Great video Ham Radio 2.0! Do you know if it is possible to link to a raspberry pi via the built-in micro usb on a Kenwood TH-D72A handheld with a standard cable? I want to setup a mobile hotspot using the raspberry pi running allstar software using my phone wifi hotspot for internet connection and my Kenwood radio connected directly to the raspberry pi via a standard usb cable. My question is whether the raspberry pi allstar software can be configured to communicate directly to the Kenwood HT without having to resort to some bulky DB25 connection setup. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to see more videos on your Allstar setup. Thanks.

      One idea I came up with was for a friend who is a scout leader. He is trying to set up JOTA (jamboree on the air) but has equipment issues. The idea was we could set up an all star node and connect it to a scout hub. The node could then be set up at the camp ontop of a hill that gets reception (something that doesn’t happen at the camp) and then the scouts could talk to other scouts who are on the hub. This way they are experiencing connectivity with radio. It would also be good for joining up similar activities in different locations

    How disturbing you would promote software piracy on your channel. Do you condone IP theft?

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly what are you referring to?

    • @W9CR
      @W9CR 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hamvoip is pirated software. John David McGough, KB4FXC and his partners have stolen the software from Jim Dixon/AllStarLink/the GNU Foundation/Linux to name a few. Someone has been nice enough to document it all at kb4fxc.com

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well....
      IF that is true, then 1) this is the first I am hearing about it and 2) I am not the one who pirated it.
      How can they have an open and public website for Pirated software?
      This seems to me, more like spats between 2 people who both claim to be owners of the same software. It seems to me like an argument to be had between the Ham VOIP folks and others.
      Downloading PUBLIC software from a PUBLIC website shouldn't be considered piracy. If it was actually stolen software, then they could have taken legal matters to get it taken down by now, but it is still there.
      Suffice it to say that I don't care to get into the middle of spats between Amateur Operators who can't get along with one another, even if the cause is justified.

    • @W9CR
      @W9CR 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not public software, it's Free Software and it has a license. Making it publicly available in violation of the license is the _very definition_ of software piracy.
      It's good to know where you stand on the issues of IP theft.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please read and stop projecting your opinionated viewpoint on me.
      I said the WEBSITE was public, not the software.
      I never promoted IP theft either since, as you clearly aren't aware, HamVOIP isn't an IP address, it is software.
      IF the software has actually been stolen, then no, I wouldn't promote it. But having 2 people disagree with one another, each on their own website, is hardly proof in one direction or the other.
      Again, it seems to me that if there was an actual legal case here, the owners of the "free software" could take legal action about it. Posting ridiculing remarks on someone else's website or channel doesn't do much to make your case for you.
