These animals and birds deserve to be around. They are here for a reason. Your style of vlogging is different compared to the rests of the vloggers. Your vlogging make more sense - "Educational and awareness". Your documentation and narration are effective tool to reach out to the Filipino community around the world what need to be done. You captured on your video unusual ocean creatures I've never heard nor seen before and here you are showing us another side of the animal kingdom in the Philippines. Animals and birds species never heard that are native to the Philippines - Tina Turner like wild boar or mohawk - first time to see one like that - variety of Hornbills, deer, leopard cat "thought existence of leopard cat is only in Africa or South America". Salute to Matt for making a difference in the nation. The future of these creatures are at stake and Matt is doing an impressive job for these creatures lifeline - a million thanks Matt. If I am to send something, where and who would that be.
Bayawan City not only have this Nature Conservation Area as what Finn now is showing us in his latest Vlog but this city is also known for its modern Sanitary LANDFILL which other big cities don't have. I am from Cebu Province & I'm proud to say that this landfill was no.1 in our bucket list in coming to Negros Oriental.
Very, very educational...but that is what happens when humans/Pinoys multiply and move in on these beautiful animals' habitats. So the questions, are we humans to do about it? I really commend those who work in conservation. Maybe we ought to help them by donating to their cause. Walk the talk.

Not all locals though so don't generalize. It happens in all countries mind you. Do you know how the Japanese keep on killing dolphins and whales for sushi and sashimi? The Americans hunt and kill their wolves and other wild animals as well oh and they go to Africa to shoot endangered animals like elephants, lions all in the guise of culling but its more for sport actually.

THESE ANIMALS WERE ONCE VERY COMMON IN THE PHILIPPINES (in more islands than they exist today): •The talusi/tirik/tariktik (Visayan hornbills, their feathers were once a common decoration for warriors) •The kalaw/kalangay (Rufous-headed hornbill, feathers also used as decoration, kampilan sword hilts are commonly carved in the shape of their heads) •The katala/kakatua (red vented cockatoo, the shape of their head is the default sword hilt design in Muslim Mindanao, where they are now extinct) •The limokon (various green iridescent doves, once regarded as messengers of the spirits) •The kulo-kulo/agbaan (bleeding heart dove) •The baboy-ramo/baboy-lasang (warty pig, a former hunting staple) •The Philippine leopard cat (so rare that people have forgotten its native name, there's a picture of one caught by the Igorot in Luzon in 1913, where they are extinct in modern times) •The balintung (pangolin) •The salaksak (kingfishers, once common in rice fields) •The kulasisi (Philippine hanging parrot, most Filipinos don't even know the Philippines has several species of native parrots) •The kagwang (flying lemur, once so common that its name is a mild affectionate insult in Bisaya roughly meaning "silly") •The mawumag (tarsier) •The kalabyaw/kabog (flying fox, once also a common hunted animal) •The pilandok (the Philippine mouse deer, whose range once included Mindanao where it is a legendary trickster, now restricted to Palawan) •The tabon (Philippine megapode or a related species like the maleo, a flightless bird related to cassowaries/rheas that nests in sand, described by the Magellan expedition from Bohol(?) but now extinct in the Visayas) •The sarus crane (now extinct in the Philippines, native name forgotten) •The Philippine leaf bird (a bright green bird, now probably extinct) •The usa (various native deer. Once regarded as sacred reincarnations of drowned women, now almost extinct because of the loss of once vast seagrass meadows) •The pugo (the original native quail of the Philippines) •The giant scops owl (once common throughout the Philippines, now only reported from the Dinagat islands) •The kulago or kuwago (Philippine eagle owl, the largest owl in the Philippines, now rare) •The sinarapan/bia/tabios (the dwarf goby, once found on the 10 centavo coin and once the national fish of the Philippines, once common in Malabon, now extinct because the river was reclaimed and doesn't exist anymore) •Numerous native fishes (replaced by tilapia, carp, and guppies introduced by Americans)

Note in particular that most of these names are from highlander (non-seafaring) tribes. Which means they did not derive the knowledge of the mouse-deer from other islands. All of which indicates that the mouse-deer was native to Mindanao, but are now extinct. Though it might not be the same species as the Philippine mouse-deer of Palawan, which makes it even sadder.

Fossils are easier to find because they're much more durable and can be found in rock formations. Chamba lang talaga kung may nakahanap ng buto nila at narecognize na mouse-deer. Napakaliit ng mouse-deer. Easy to mistake it as for a cat or a small dog.

Hornbill birds ( Toucans) they are beautiful . Never seen that species yet. Always enjoy the content you bring forward! Endemic refers to only found to that part of this world! Endangered refers to threat to no longer exist due to disregard of habitat to thrive Extinct refers to as GONE Your enthusiasm as a novice and the Conservation efforts to not let than happen! Much respect! Also enjoyed learning the story behind bleeding heart dove! Is it only the foreigner that are heading these programs? are the local Filipinos also being trained and educated to keep this going? That would be a win win for the local Filipinos as far as employment and preserve these beautiful species for future generations!

•The usa (various native deer. Once a literal staple hunted animal, so common their horns were commonly used to carve sword hilts)
•The giant cloud rats (again so rare, we've forgotten their native name. Once a common hunted staple)
•The Philippine duck (the original pato, now very rare)
•The tamaraw (whose name was used for a Toyota vehicle, once a common hunted animal for the native Mangyan of Mindoro)
•The dugong (whose name actually comes from Cebuano. Once regarded as sacred reincarnations of drowned women, now almost extinct because of the loss of once vast seagrass meadows)
•The pugo (the original native quail of the Philippines)
•The giant scops owl (once common throughout the Philippines, now only reported from the Dinagat islands)
•The kulago or kuwago (Philippine eagle owl, the largest owl in the Philippines, now rare)
•The sinarapan/bia/tabios (the dwarf goby, once found on the 10 centavo coin and once the national fish of the Philippines, once common in Malabon, now extinct because the river was reclaimed and doesn't exist anymore)
•Numerous native fishes (replaced by tilapia, carp, and guppies introduced by Americans)

@@7kikoae77jungle9 Because of linguistic and cultural evidence. Several tribes in Mindanao have native names for the mouse-deer. This includes Maranao "pilandok", Tausug "pilanduk", Tiruray "filanduk", Manobo "pilanduk", and T'boli "uhu".
The mouse-deer is also an iconic trickster-hero character in pre-colonial Maranao, Tiruray, and Manobo folklore.
Note in particular that most of these names are from highlander (non-seafaring) tribes. Which means they did not derive the knowledge of the mouse-deer from other islands.
All of which indicates that the mouse-deer was native to Mindanao, but are now extinct. Though it might not be the same species as the Philippine mouse-deer of Palawan, which makes it even sadder.

@@7kikoae77jungle9 Recently extinct. Only a few centuries to a few thousand years ago. Kung meron mang remains ng mouse-deer, hindi pa yan nafofossilize. Fossils are easier to find because they're much more durable and can be found in rock formations. Chamba lang talaga kung may nakahanap ng buto nila at narecognize na mouse-deer. Napakaliit ng mouse-deer. Easy to mistake it as for a cat or a small dog.

I love watching nature, this vlog is a bonus Finn . Interesting wild things in Philippines , the wild boar (pigs ) are big its different from European wild boar. Hornbill birds ( Toucans) they are beautiful . Never seen that species yet. Great that there are some foreigners did help to conserves these endangered species in wilds not only in Asia but some part of the world.
