You may want to buy some silicone mesh sheets for your dehydrator. I bought some on Amazon and just cut them to the size of the trays. I use these so that I can dehydrate smaller items so that they don't stick or fall thru - herbs, grape tomatoes (cut in half), sliced tomatoes (grind up for tomato powder), sliced garlic (grind up for garlic powder), shredded zucchini (game changer as now not needing to fill up my freezer), celery greens, beet greens, etc. I just wash them and hang dry when they get dirty. You will have fun dehydrating again and adding to your stockpile. Really enjoy your videos 🙂
How cool that you get to try a food dehydrator! Can’t wait to see all that you store up. Great sales you got. I went a little crazy at the end of April and went over budget again so I am avoiding the store for as long as possible. I am thinking we need to adjust our budget but I am not happy about it so I am putting it off. Fingers crossed on lots of good sales.
Oh, Allison. Yes, it's always hard when you have to adjust your budget. You keep yours so low too! And I know that inflation is really hitting all of us again too. You'll figure it out like you always do. I have every confidence in you! 🥰
Oh by the way, I threw some pork loin in my cuisinart food processor to see how it would do making ground pork and it worked beautifully. I added Italian sausage seasoning and proceeded to make my spaghetti with it. Worked great
We have used a food dehydrator for about 30 years. I have done everything from peppers to green onion tops to apples strawberries. I have also dehydrated spinach to add to soups.
Oh my goodness. I never thought of watermelon! Wow. I have a lot to try! What's his favorite kind of fruit leather? I should give that a try for my kids!
@@joyfullythriving I usually use a base of applesauce and banana puree then I throw in whatever frozen or fresh fruit I need to use up. Throw it all in a blender and spread it on the trays. They are very forgiving. Kind of like smoothies.
I thought of you when I grabbed 3 jars of the Pace and a bag of the Mission chips... all for $1.49 each! Great deals for cinco de Mayo (or ANYTIME!) I love my dehydrator! I sometimes dry leftover herbs before they go bad - I've found because some of the herbs are really small (or shrink to very small) that I needed a smaller hole on my trays. I got a 6 pack of plastic canvas from Hobby Lobby or Michaels and cut them to fit! They work PERFECT for smaller items!
Our local store is having a 3 day sale starting Friday. Ground beef 80/20 super saver pack is $2.97 a lb., bone-in pork sirloin roast $1.47 lb., and 2 pound blocks or bags of shredded cheese for $4.47!! I'll be heading there early tomorrow morning for those 3 deals. They are having other meats on sale but not excellent prices so I'll wait on those.
I love my big 9 tray Excalibur dehydrator I bought about 14 yrs ago. We make banana chips, apple cinnamon chips, beef jerky, fruit leather, applesauce leather, & frozen mixed veggies dehydrate great too for future soups. Works great but it's a bit too loud. 😕 Nice yours is not noisy. You'll love it! 😊
@joyfullythriving you're welcome! My boss hates bananas and I've never known anyone who did, now I know 2 who don't. LOL 😅 so you've never made banana bread? 🍌 🍞
@@Sandrashideaway I made banana bread quite a bit when I was growing up for my mom. I probably have a banana allergy / sensitivity. Growing up, my parents always made me eat bananas and they made my throat itch. Eventually they let me stop eating them when I told them a baked potato has twice the potassium a banana does! Lol. I've served them to all my kids but the taste, smell, texture and flavor of bananas is not at all appealing to me! More banana bread for you! 😂
Thats a fabulous deal for a dehydrator,i already have on ( not that brand) and im going try rhubarb. My deals of the day: Green beans .79 a pound Roma tomatoes.79 a pound 16 oz can refried beans. 99
Ohhh! Rhubarb is a good idea! Although this is only thr second year to harvest my rhubarb so I don't know if I will have enough to dry...yet! 😉 Let me know how it turns out when you try dehydrating!
My husband and I were just reciting the old Pace commercial the other day 😂 with the cowboys around the campfire. Made in New York City.....NEW YORK CITY?? 😂 great deals you got!!!
Yes, indeed! It actually boosts the fiber in the fruit too. The juices (from what I know) have no impact on the health value of the fruit. Now, dried fruit is more concentrated so the sugar can be higher big both dried and fresh fruits are healthy options!
@@joyfullythriving you can re-hydrate it and use it in just about any zucchini recipe.. I have not yet made flour with it, but you can grind it like flour and swap out 1/3 of all purpose. Purposeful pantry has amazing recipes and ideas! Have fun

What a great idea! Adding the Italian seasoning was a nice move too!

Onions! I didn't even think about that! That's a great idea! 👍
When I dehydrate apples I soak them in pineapple juice. Helps to keep them from browning and adds a sweet snap to them. My kids love them.
Ohhhh! Thanks for that tip! I will definitely have to try that!
Great deals! Ibotta has a rebate on the Old El Paso products as well 😊
Thanks for a great video
Yes! I was excited to grab that one again. Thanks for mentioning it for the others since I forgot to mention it!
Dried watermelon is AMAZING!!
I make fruit leather like crazy too. My youngest loves it and I send gallon bags of it with him to college

Nice vlog again I don't have a Kroger in my area but seems like they have some great deals ❤
They really do!

Thanks for sharing all those things I need to try....except banana chips. I do NOT like bananas in any shape, form or flavor! 😬

Of course! You know I can't keep a good deal to myself! 🥳

Yes!!! It makes me laugh every time thinking of those cowboys! 🤠 😂 And thanks! Not a lot but good deals all around!
We can’t say salsa without saying made in New York City. 😂
Wonder if how the dehydrator is on electric?
Yes, it's an electric dehydrator and I thought it worked great! 👍
Is dehydrating healthy since all the juices from the fruit are gone
Yes, indeed! It actually boosts the fiber in the fruit too. The juices (from what I know) have no impact on the health value of the fruit. Now, dried fruit is more concentrated so the sugar can be higher big both dried and fresh fruits are healthy options!
Dehydrating is addicting! Try pineapples so good! So many things you can do! I do my zucchini in it
Ohhh! Pineapple! Yes! That sounds amazing. What so you do with dehydrated zucchini? That's intriguing for when zucchini goes crazy in the garden! 🤣
