Paul, I am very sorry to hear about the return of your cancer. I hope you have good friends close by to encourage you. Your videos are always joyful and educational. Thanks for posting with Mitch.
Hi Paul, I rarely leave comments on videos, but I follow you since some years now and would like to wish you all the best for your incoming challenge... I learnt a lot from you, and really hope to continue learning from you for a looooong time! As we say here in Italy: tieni duro!!! ❤
Dear Mr Brodie. I watch the videos you make with Mitch over and over again. I always learn something new. I hope you recover as soon as possible. You´re such an inspiritation!
Hi, Paul - glad to hear you are feeling stronger after the chemo, but sorry you have to go through this. I had a great time at your party and it was an honor to finally meet you! Stay positive, my friend…
Hello Paul, that was a fascinating story, helped along by your friend who doesn’t like to sell things, that sounds familiar! I hope you keep your focus on getting to the salt flats, we are all counting on you, so take care of yourself and get well soon, we are all rooting for you. Very best wishes from Kevin U.K.
I hope the treatment goes well. Regarding air jets, they work on conjunction with the fuel jet on the differing circuits, basically making the air jet bigger weakens the mixture, but you can also alter the air jet and fuel jet so that the lower range is altered while the upper isn't and vici versa. If you can, have a read of John Robinson Motorcycle Tuning 4 stroke.
Hi Paul and Mitch. Thanks for yet another wonderful video. I learn so much from you guys I decided a little help towards the big bucks was in order 😂 I wish you well with your health Paul, best wishes from Tasmania. Kind regards Shane
Again, humility on display. “What I learned”. “What I didn’t know”. Thank you Paul for showing us all how to embrace the transfer of knowledge. To me this is already your legacy. Cancer update…. I do not have the words to express my disappointment in that development. I’m glad you’re around, you’ve made me better in more than one way and I hope and wish the best for YOU! There is still much growth to be had.
11:00 The holder between the needle and main jets is called the jet holder. Seriously. Mikuni started as an AMAL licensee, and used main jets the same as pre-Monobloc AMAL carburettors. The modern Mikuni main jets will go straight in an AMAL 289 as standard on a Vincent, for example. Their jet calibration numbers are not the same, however, so you need to check how they inter-relate.
Your desire to learn is inspiring. Collecting all the information over 25 years and still learning. I wish you the best of health. Looking forward to many more years of videos and learning for all!
Yeah, the so called 2 stroke jet holder and needle jet in the Concentrics was used on the '68 on the BSA A65's. Then they changed to the 4 stroke longer jet holder and needle jet with the emulsion holes and well for mixing air/fuel. The needle is longer to sit lower inside the jet orifice where the size of the jet is. Result is better evaporation of the fuel. Also, angled nozzles are 2 stroke (probably to add air to fuel at that point), straight nozzle for 4 stroke, and Norton used a stepped nozzle (to cover whatever tuning anomaly they incurred). The center aluminum air jet is the air bleed. It aids in transition from mid range to main jet. It controls the level of fuel in the jet well. The larger the air bleed the lower the fuel level in the jet well, the smaller, the higher the fuel level. Engine vacuum thru the venture is what pulls the fuel up the nozzle, air bleeding into the nozzle controls the height. What the use is, is when the main jet comes in. So if you're really rich just below 3/4 throttle go to a larger air bleed, too lean, smaller. On another point. You were hoping for more hp. Uncorking the exhaust can add more scavenging, bringing more fuel/air in. So adding a few more discs may help this. And if the carb is correctly sized the venturi effect will flow more fuel with the jetting. If it richens carb too small, if it leans carb too large. So sorry your cancer is back.
Thankfully the resources are/ were available to learn about the carb jetting and such. Looks like it'll perform for you now as expected. F'N Cancer!!! Sorry to hear about the relapse. My mother dealt with multiple myeloma as well. I've just had my MCL cancer become active again. We keep fighting this fight. Wishing you the best.
Hi Paul, Great news on the bike mate, but so sorry to hear you are back on chemo . I am a Cancer survivor, I had half my guts removed 13 years ago for bowel cancer and now live with a stoma bag, so I know what you are going through, stay strong and optimistic mate. Bob. UK
CONGRATULATIONS! on your succesful Dyno Run! ..Without a doubt, that is the nicest 350 ever built..I look forward to watching you run at Bonneville next year! ..Be healthy and know you are the GOAT!!..👍👍👍🗽🇺🇸
Hi Paul, as a devoted follower of your channel, bicycle restorer and now restoring my first motorcycle I have learnt so much from you that it’s ok to keep learning with intense enthusiasm 😊. You get well and keep strong as always from all of us in OZ. 🙏
Good luck dear Mr. Paul with your treatment. Keep fighting and, if you feel like doing so, please keep posting your majestic videos. I admire your courage and frankness. As many others wrote, you are really inspirational.
Deeply sorry to hear about your latest health development. Wishing you nothing but the best and praying for recovery. Leaned a lot with this video and glad to see the dyno run went smoothly! Health comes first, Bonneville has been there for a long time and there's always next year. Go Paul and Mitch, keep moving forward!
You’ll make it to the flats next year Mr. Brodie and then you can show us what the Aermacchi can do!! You have been such a big inspiration in my life and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, keep fighting the good fight 💪
Bad news on the chemo. I so enjoy your content & take inspiration from every upload. I am just finished off two rounds of chemo & radiation fighting esophogial cancer. Prayers for a good out come.
Hope you continue to get better! Sorry to hear about your new treatment. Pray all goes well. You are a treasure, and we need you Paul! Keep up the good work on your cycles!
I’m sad to hear that this has happened. You’ve put in so much effort and I know you would have enjoyed the experience. I was looking forward to meeting you down on the salt but I think you have your priorities in order. Take care of yourself.
Yeah, Your Health is Your Wealth, Paul Brodie..... I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, I believe that looking forward to Bonneville next year will give you fortitude in your battle with cancer. Take care and God Bless You and your loved ones. 😁👍🙏
Paul, I'm sorry for all the problems the carburettor has given you. It is true that at that time in Spain most motorcycles were 2-stroke. Maybe it would have been better to look for in Italy... everything is to learn😉 I sincerely hope the treatment goes well for you💪
I love watching your videos, Paul. Especially with the interesting projects that you do. I was disappointed to hear your announcement at the end of the video, but I have had three close friends all get diagnosed with cancer either this spring or summer and by luck or good design, they have all beaten it, and one of the three is declared in remission and the other two are doing much better than anticipated. Positive energy to you, Paul. Love your videos. I hope you feel well enough to continue. If not, we will all understand.
I'm sorry to hear about you having to restart chemo. I wish you well and hope you have people around to support you. I hope you have a swift recovery. Thank you for your always interesting and educating content. Best wishes and many greetings
I'm sure you'll go to the flats next year! Incredible that you have all those notes. I sometimes have to repair something that I do every 5 years and I it always seems like I'm doing it for the first time. Perhaps i should start doing notes like that
Bonneville is different from any form or location to race. Very sorry to hear you did not go and may God bless you that next year you can set a record.
Oh man, sorry you couldn't go to Bonneville this year. Hopefully next year you can go down there and burn up the salt! Love, love, love that motorcycle!
Sorry to hear the news re your health, and interested to hear your reference to the IoM, that’s where I am, and this week is the Manx Grand Prix with bikes like your Aermacchi are being raced, well they will if the weather improves! Take care.
Outstanding video Paul, so sorry to hear you are back on chemo. I had chemo back in 2021 and although it kicked my butt I am here to say screw cancer. Keep fighting and you can beat that crap.
Sorry to hear your cancer has come back & you are doing chemo again, I'n sure you will beat it again. On the good side, pleased to hear that the bike is now performing as expected. Stay strong buddy !
Hello Paul, here's hoping your chemo goes well. The air jet in the mouth of the carb probably goes to the needle jet or main jet holder. That cross drilled hole in the main jet holder would allow air to enter the fuel passage and help atomize the fuel before it enters the carb throat. As you learned, there are several differences between a two stroke and four stroke carb. Good numbers on the dyno run!
Glad that you’re getting the Aeromacchi back in the right direction. Sorry that you have to be back on the juice and have to skip Bonneville. But it’s all for the best in the end and you’ll do fine. 🙂🙂🙂
Great to see you sorted out the jetting and got a run on the dyno, look forward to seeing you run at the salt flats next year and bring back a record 🙂🤞
re watched the episode again. craving for new videos but Iunderstand about the health issues. Hoping you'll get well and be stronger than ever. we're all rooting for you paul. I hope mitch will give us an update on your status.
That looks like the Amal that is supposed to go on my M143 Bultaco Frontera! Luckily, the used Keihin PE carb I found on eBay works perfectly without any changes...Browsing TH-cam for carb tuning tips, as I do, I came across a video of a hot rod scooter tuner shop that uses a (wide band) air fuel ratio gauge to tune new carbs. Just have to weld a bung in the exhaust for the sensor. The shop sells a kit with everything included but searching the internet I found several pages of kits including bunches on Amazon..Just search for " (wide band) air fuel ratio gauge to tune new carbs" in TH-cam to see folks using this method...I learned to inject heparin at MD Anderson hospital when my daughter went through chemo so I know it is a long and rough road to go down.
Paul, I am very sorry to hear about the return of your cancer. I hope you have good friends close by to encourage you. Your videos are always joyful and educational. Thanks for posting with Mitch.
We're all rooting for ya, Paul!
Good luck with the next round of treatments, Paul. You have a lot of folks here rooting for you!
