What a wonderful memory! It was beyond amazing to have the privilege of singing backup for Rachael Price, who is now the lead singer of Lake Street Dive.
Rachael hooked me the first time I saw a video of her singing a rendition of the Jackson Five song , I Want You Back". I never miss her show when she's in town. Can't miss that sultry voice, and her down to earth self. No pretentions even as we all watch her meteoric rise and growing,world-wide audiences .
O M G!! What a magnificent voice! Spanish n English Rachael Price u r amazing! Mike (McCduck) a stroke of genius when he put lake street dive together.. they are all super talented, led on stage by a superb vocalist Rachael Price! Check them out u will not be disappointed. G aranteed!
According to public information, since she was a child Ms Price always wanted to sing and she did sing, with strong family encouragement and support. She grew up exposed and influenced early to music performed by Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra and other classical greats. She committed years of training, practice, voice exercises, and formal training at a prestigious conservatory. All this a recipe for success, you bet! Now this highly successful yet humble artist performs and shares the stage with world class talented song writers and musicians in various venues.
What a stunning girl you are Rachael Price. A consummate performer. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. It goes without saying the musicians and choir are also great.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would love any help you can give me!
@Jacob Jasper Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@danielchastain4602 - As credited in the notes, the words and music are by Stevie Wonder, in English by the title of "Love's in Need of Love Today." It was newly translated by Tommy Kavelin, of Puerto Rico, a member of the choir, especially for this tour, which performed in 8 Spanish speaking countries in 2005. Rachael Price sang with this choir starting about the age of nine, which performed in over 40 countries during the 90s and 2000s, and started singing solos in concerts around the age of 12. It was common for the group to translate and sing in various languages whenever possible.
This is crazy, but I must have listened to this 50 times and sent it to all my musical friends. This should be available. What a hit!!! Great job all around.
I cry every time I play this video. And I love Lake street dive Running Mad. I saw them live in Montreal, International Jazz Festival, a few years ago. Since they seem not to be so well known here, I was a few feet from the band, 1st row from the outdoor stage, dancing!
Absolutely wonderful..the music, the graceful backing singers, the atmosphere of peace and love in Caracas of all places - and Rachel, lovely Rachel, that mouth, that voice, how shall I count the ways
i love her , from then till 2019 she absolutely great. ive been listening to her 1 year and everyone should hear a great artist like this. its a once in a million chance an artist has her talent. AND IN ANOTHER LAUNGAGE
This is one of the most awesome performances in history. I looked for the songwriter or other recordings,,,, then I played Stevie Wonders Love is in Need of Love Today.
Thank god for the Internet, preserving the beginnings of such an amazing performer. Her talking voice sounded a bit higher then, but that singing voice is definitely the same velvety, deep thing she still uses.
Yes.....really love the band too. All incredible. What is so unique is how they manage to make even complicated songs a delight to listen to with the open space they leave in each tune. Fabulous....
I don’t speak Spanish but this is exceptionally good! Unfortunately, in U.K., Rachael hasn’t yet received the media exposure her great singing talents deserve. I hope this changes soon.
I don't speak any Spanish, but I still teared up on this one. Gonna have to hunt up the original version by Stevie Wonder... Man, this woman can sing her ass off and it doesn't make any difference what the genre is. Wow... again.
Que buen mensaje en la melodía, A Dios le pido que todo el mundo hispano parlante ¡la escuche! Raquel, la pudieras traducir y cantar en el idioma ingles por fa?
@trahansax RE: the wardrobe change - it is a nice hat AND the guy does wail on that sax. I also enjoyed the silent-sax-solo at 2:00 Rachael's voice is fabulous and this is a very nice arrangement & choir.
No mention of the original artist / composer STEVIE WONDER ~ Love's In Need Of Love Today from SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE - Her version is so wonderful that I had a problem locating the original version because hers sounds LIKE an original version. And the title FALTA AMOR?
Great stuff. Seen Rachael Price live twice, and have been a long time fan. She studied at NEC with my best friend, Michael Dobrinski. @Tom Price, Did Rachel Translate this and sing it uniquely, or was it already redone in Spanish from Stevie Wonder and she heard it and decided to sing it?
Nice, thanks for the upload!! 2005 she was just out of NE Conservatory of Music, made her first performance with Lake Street Dive . Is that her sister directing the choir?
Hats off to all the Prices, other performers and their extended families. Very well done. Thank you. This one will stand the test of time. Does anyone know where I might find the words Rachael sings here? I enjoy singing in Spanish yet always need help with translation from English. I have Stevie's words in English but I'd like some help. Can I find this translation on line? Gracias!
Wonderful to see that Rachael has evolved beyond this coverband dead end music to the original music of Lake Street Dive and is now making the world a better place.
I think Lake Street Dive had been formed the year before this was recorded and Rachael was early in her studies at New England Conservatory. She and they have come a very long way since then.
you are a gift as well as your band. your songwriting seminar at the conservatory a some good ideas. also , in nice to get to know LSD. particularly the idea of looking to see what is unnecessary, clutter that doesn't move the song forward. i'm nearly 80 been waiting for a voice like this all my life

The vocal expression and the voice control are simply unbelievable 👍
One of the best voices in our time 😃❤️

Many of our great singers are mined in church choirs. Rachel Price is a good example.
Yes....love her band and all the different folks she plays with.
وااااو لا يُصدق من أفضل الأصوات في زماننا 😃❤
Wow, what a beautiful version!
Big fan of LSD. Just discovered this. Wonderfully done, brilliant! Ms. Price you are a joy to listen to! 😎

Absolutely. That's Emily Price conducting - Chicago opera singer, and just as amazing in her own genre.

Pretty sure its her Sis conducting! Thats her Dad on piano and I think the sax player's her bro!
Actually, her dad, Tom Price, is the tall bearded fellow with the shaker at 1:25.
