I got 5/5, since "Laurel green needle" is "one" of the options?? Really? As soon as you played the 5th audio, and even before you gave the options, I had heard and written down "Laurel, green needle". How on earth is "yanny brainstorm" an option?? That is mind-blowing to me. I can definitely hear the initial and ending "L" in Laurel, but there's no way I could hear an initial and ending "Y" there, let alone "brainstorm", no matter how hard I try. Thanks for the lesson!
When you go to a train station in England and you ask for a ticket, to a person speaking English, behind a glass, surrounded by lots and lots of people around you talking, at the same time. That's when you know how much you can understand a foreign language. In fact, that is precisely the type of listening activity that some methodologists recommend given that it's real-life listening.
Wow, it was so challenging ! This is the best listening exercise. I got 3/5 and I heard Lauel Green Needle all the time. It was so fun and I learned a lot. Thank you Lucy
I got 5/5 and loved this activity since I've always been passionate about English homophones and polysemy! I have to say number 4 had me distracted on "disenfranchised" (never heard this word before; plus I need a whole sentence to convey that in Italian) but thankfully my brain decoded "harbours" as a verb right away. I'm looking forward to more listening activities like this one! :)
This is wonderful video! Really love such stuff! Keep more of them coming! I got 3/5 though. I couldn't figure out "real eyes" and "complex harbours disenfranchised youths"
Hi Lucy, could you please make a lesson about How to pronounce 'in the/ on the/ to the/ with the/ for the/ over the. I find them really difficult to pronounce. Thank you for everything!
3/5: The first one really tripped me up accoustically, because there was no further context that would usually help me (obviously, that's part of this game) and I guess I've been out of school for too long for grammatical questions like the 3rd one. xD The 2nd and 4th question were a breeze though.
Thank you for this awesome lesson. I would love doing more listening exercises. I got 4/5. But to be honest, one of the 4 was more a guess than a confident answer.
Yes Lucy, This is truly the Hardest English Listening Test that I have ever done, but unfortunately I got only one question correct. That was the first question Lucy. I will do better in your future tests. Thank you Lucy for your kindness
I'm not a native speaker, and I'm not living in a country in which English is the first language, (in fact it's the third one only). I don't know almost nothing (like you can hear in some American movies 😄) about grammar, and I learned "English" on my own, but it's American English and I find that British English is harder than that, so 2/5 is even more than I was expecting. Thanks for the video!
I am not the listening type, and I don't listen well in any language, including my native language. But to aid in understanding, speakers generally don't read a sentence word by word at even speed where there could be confusion. So, "The complex (slight pause) harbours disenfranchised youth ...." instead of reciting every word at even speed is the way to say that sentence.
4/5 I missed the first one, I misheard it as "Realize, realize, real eyes". I didn't expect it to necessarily be a meaningful sentence. The rest I got relatively easily, for 2nd and 3rd it was enough to listen just once to understand them clearly right away. 😊
I'd say I got all of them, because I did the 4th one by means of exclusion (having identified the adjective and the object, it's obvious what the rest is).
Hi. I have a slightly longer question for you. Which of these syllabifications respects syllable sonority pattern and does not respect onset maximization? 1.kənf. rʌnt 2.kən. frʌnt 3.kən. frʌ. nt 4.kə. nfrʌnt Thank you for your answear
Hi Lucy! I've been watching your videos for awhile (about 7 years) and I love them, I'm begging you, would you be able to teach how to pronounce the words dull, lull or hull ? I can't for the life of me pronounce the "ull" sound
I made two mistakes, unfortunately. However, I would like to get some more listening lessons from you, please. Particularly listening in contex, because I usually understand what the conversation is about, but when it comes to understanding the context and match with the A-F answers, it's hell for me.
Haliuu! My lovely teacher Lucy!!I love your voice so much. Here is the thing. I am Russian guy, live in the USA. But I am freaking kin to British accent as it is. But I am specifically addicted to that accent when it comes out you!❤️🌺🌹❤️🔥
It was kinda a challenging lesson but I really enjoyed it. I got 4/5.I got the 4th one incorrect cuz I forgot to pick the verb. Keep it up teacher Lucy❤️ Btw I heard Laural brainstorm, 😁😂
3/5. I didn't get the 4th right. It was hard to identify the subject correctly without further context. The second part of the 5th sounded like noise to me. 🙂
I confess being fluent I went in very cocky. I cooled after the first sentence. Still got it all right, but I thought I'd do so with my eyes closed. No no no, I needed both hearings every time, which is a first for me XD I found the first one harder than the second though. I half expected the last one to be the infamous "Buffalo" chain. Which I never figured out by the way. Too confusing. XD I got the third one through sheer chance. I never formally studied English, learned it "on the fly" by talking, hearing, reading. But I have little to no formal education around it beyond learning specific exceptions to unspoken rules. So I had no idea what first, second and third conditional were for instance. But I was certain, from what little I knew that it ended on past perfect. I did not know inverted third conditional was that formal however, I use it in regular conversation. That may explain why I'm considered a little pompous in english though XD. Considering I never set foot in an English speaking country, I'm very happy to report 5/5 though disappointed the last question was a bit of a miss XD

For the last one, I answered Laurel Green needle but before the options I heard Morel Green needle.

4.kə. nfrʌnt

Perfect listening lesson!
Thank you Lucy for this challenging listening test.
It is kind of hard, but only need to drop down the main facts or put the answers in short first, then write the complete one.
3/5, Laurel Green needle
3/5 since the last one was a kind of bonus. Thanks Lucy
Brilliant! It was fantastic! Why our school lessons aren`t so exciting?
I need more listening tests because I’m struggling a lot
Hi
Mrs Lucy Bella, could you take your time and make lessons on ALL THE PUNCTUATION MARKS in English.
Hi Lucy! I've been watching your videos for awhile (about 7 years) and I love them, I'm begging you, would you be able to teach how to pronounce the words dull, lull or hull ? I can't for the life of me pronounce the "ull" sound
Great lesson! Amazing! Fantastic job, Lucy! .... Yep, it was not that easy! lol ... 3/5

And what about ponctuation in the sentence: "... the document she had had, had been forged" ? With or without comma after the second "had"?
I made two mistakes, unfortunately. However, I would like to get some more listening lessons from you, please.
