I just bought a new 309 along with a mulching head. I “retired” from being a lineman and have always been around equipment as well but never actually bought anything on my own so I’m glad to see I made a good choice. The 309 seems to be handling those bigger pieces of concrete very well. Nice jub
@@smithworx1091 Heck I hope so, for the money I shelled out for everything. Machine and head won’t even be delivered until mid April. Holt Cat here in east Texas had one available for April and one in May but no more on order. Caterpillar is just like the rest of the world in that they are having a hard time getting raw materials and components to keep up with demand. I feel fortunate to have snagged this one before the Cat price increase in April then there’s another one in August per my salesman. I intend on doing the type work you are doing plus be able to offer the mulching. I also bought an older dump truck to be able to haul off debris and pull a tag trailer.
@@redtexan4381 yeah man I ordered mine last April and it finally showed up in June. It was bad then. I know they've increased the prices several times since I ordered mine. I wish you luck buddy. You'll have an awesome setup for sure!
I just found your channel. It's a good to hear what you say. Everything you say is almost word for word what I've been saying for years. 2 years ago I bought a mini brand new. Never had any experience operating, but Im starting to get fairly good at it. Sometimes you got just DO IT. I've learned a lot of trades and this is just another one for me. Should of pulled the trigger years ago. Love your attitude, its like mine. Good luck to you and I enjoy your videos.
I had to go back and watch some of your past videos. It seems like it's been a week or so since your last one. I hope I'm around 5 or 10 years from now watching you running your equipment. Having a good laugh at when you first started.🤣 I believe your going to make a damn good equipment operator because you want to be a you like doing it. Hope this wind and sun dries the ground up. Be Safe Out There Brother.
@@smithworx1091 yea I was thinking Wednesday but for sure Thursday. Well I'll be waiting to see your next video. Hope you get to get out there Wednesday and at least put some trees on the ground. Be Safe Out There
Do you mind letting us know what you charge on smaller jobs like this?.. I’ve been in HVAC field for over 25 years would like to start a side hustle with small excavator doing small jobs like this.. thanks!
Be carful around the rebar, I had a piece go up inside my excavator and hit the wire harness and ac compressor and had to pay 2000$ Also beware of pool demo jobs, sometimes they have a ton of rebar
I would have started on the front side laying my material behind me and closer to where I was going to pile it. Lay the big pieces slick side down and put small pieces on push it with the blade. That looks like a turned down footer, the footer was dug and slab grade finished at the same time and all poured at once. There ain't really a Wright or wrong way, what easy for your may be hard for me.

Buddy you don't know how much that means to me. I feel like I'm always losing but words like that keep me going. I appreciate you brother. God bless!

Haha. Thanks Jim! It dried up a good bit past 2 days. I think I'm gonna give it 1 or 2 more days then go knock down some more pines!

At the time I had a 600 minimum. Since diesel has went up so much, that's changed.
Your doing a fine job..
Man I sure appreciate it

As to your question, it’s better to ask a question and sound silly, than to a job and make a complete fool of your self, like the videos
Thanks buddy. I don't mind asking questions. I know I'm not to smart 🤣
You're smart enough to ask
Oh and by the way, I've been doing Masonry for 47 years.
Wow. That's a long time
