If anyone go for 5year visa, does it mandatory to pay IHS Fees for 5years at the time of Visa Application? In that case if there is any issue with the visa after 1/2 year, if situation arrives that the person have to choose another employer or have to leave the country then what will happen with the deposited IHS fee!
You're right, there's no need to pay the entire 5-year IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge) fee upfront when applying for a 5-year visa in the UK.
Example:
Current annual IHS fee (as of July 2024) is £1,035 for most applicants.
For a 5-year visa granted (not necessarily applied for):
You'd pay £1,035 (annual fee) for the first year.
If the visa is granted for 18 months or less, you might also pay an additional half (£517.50).
@@UKknowledgeGuru That means if i apply for a 5 year skill worker visa i have to pay only 1 year IHS fee during the Visa process! Am i right? What about the remaining 4years IHS fees! In that case can i pay IHS fee every year during the 5years period?
When you will be submitted your application, if your COS says 5 years and you are applying for 5 years visa then you have to pay 5 years IHS too.
If you have COS for 1 year then you have to pay for 1 year IHS.
The amount you pay depends on the length of your visa grant, not the length you apply for. IHS fees are generally not refundable unless there are specific circumstances like visa application withdrawal or a successful appeal of a visa refusal. Hope that helps...If you got COS for 5 years then pay IHS for 5 years, so that leads to ILR, keep case simple.

Hello sir, if skilled worker have 5 years visa due to the lack of money if he can apply for 3years for his dependent is that possible?
To keep case simple, Just ask employer to amend COS from 5 to 3 year and this way you will pay 3 year IHS. But I personally recommend, when you getting 5 year just take it for for 5 year, its a hassle to extend and also what if things change with sponsor in 3 years.

Yes, you can potentially choose to pay for a shorter visa period than the validity of your Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) in the UK. But suggestion is don't do that as its more hassle practically. Its a question which can be raise by the visa officer that what this payment is for. You may be lucky that it get oversight. But you can explain in the cover letter, may be For Example : Mr A has taken the car loan and paying that monthly and even after paying that Mr A has enough funds to support himself in the UK and fulfils all the Visa conditions.

what type of mistake ? If its something like you provided wrong dates etc you mention them on covering letter before biometric.
