    What about a half covered run? My run is approximately 7’x12’. I’m putting the roof over the run today but it’ll only be about half. I want them to be able to get some sun when they want, that’s the reason for halfway covered. I would let them in the rest of the yard but I can’t do that unattended, because I have a fair good size garden and don’t want them free to destroy our food🤣. Oh I forget I have 5 chickens. My coop is 4’x5’ and about 5 1/2’ tall.

    Great information as always. The coyote you showed on the video was just at my coop about a half hour ago. Looked exactly like that one. The girls were screaming PREDATOR! and I looked out and saw him. He took off but I managed to shoot him in the butt with my pellet gun as he went up a hill. I guess it's time to keep a closer watch.

      It's great you have a predator proof run! Coyotes and all predators are going to be more desperate right now as many have babies to feed.

    awesome information, have you ever hatched any of your eggs out? its is a great way to build your flock. Also selling hatching eggs is a great source of income, our chickens pay for themselves and provide extra cash.

      Sounds like an awesome coop and run. It sounds like it could be days away from fresh eggs. Not that you want to get out and about in public but you may consider placing fake ceramic eggs in the nesting box to give them an idea where to put them. LOL

    Any way on how to get chickens to get in their house by them self’s before it gets dark that’s the only problem I have because when I grab them they start to feel very shaky and jump out and run for a while

    • @WelcometoChickenlandia
      @WelcometoChickenlandia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are they young? You may want to keep them in an enclosed run attached to their coop for now while they learn where home is. You can put a little LED light in the coop and that may encourage them to go into it, but turn it off once they are in. After a few weeks or so you shouldn't need the light.

      jacob123 oh no, definitely that chicken is very sick. Unfortunately, those symptoms could be a number of things and since I am not a veterinarian I cannot offer you a diagnosis. Can you bring her inside? Check out my video “sick chicken protocol” and follow those instructions. I hope you can find out what’s wrong. Make sure you check her over for mites and feel around her vent to see if she maybe has an egg stuck.
