The first game had exactly 3 factions covering exactly 1/3 of the map each, and this game has them in the same locations. There are 3 total directions, and they spread out to cover the others.

Yeah I feel like the illuminate wouldn’t leave a planet destroying weapon around when they knew they were on the brink of defeat in the first galactic war. They might pull a TCS on us and it’ll actually malfunction. For gameplay reasons, a planet destroying weapon would make the game boring, completely invalidating homeworld invasions. *Who needs a knife in a nuke fight after all am I right* ?
my feelings are like ... the Illuminate didn't have WMDs in the first war, when Super Earth used that as their reason to war against them. after a century of being cast away... now they actually have them.

Unless we get the weapon active and then get attacked by the Illuminate, a big battle over the weapon starts and in the conflict the weapon either malfunctions, self destructs or overheats (idk) and instead the planet itself gets torn to pieces by it. We don't get to use it but it leaves a mark on the galaxy with one planet completely obliterated off the map because of it. Basically the Helldivers 2 version of The Fall of Cadia.

I have been listening at audio leaks like the future news reports, this one, etc... and all I'm gonna say is the TCS tower Major Order was just the beginning and we're in for a VERY wild ride.
Plot twist, the illuminate low-key already control super-earth via mind control, infiltration, subversion, & the voting algorithm. Alt plot twist: super earth gov is really controlled by bad guys, the robots are just trying to free their part human cyborg creators/parents who are trapped in the mines of their home-world in life long/ endless slavery, human cyborgs who had originally rebelled from super-earths tyrannical/totalitarian rule, & the bugs are a super-earth man-made creature that is used simultaneously as a “bogeyman” along with using them for fuel which we already know. So many Easter eggs. I wish we had more freedom tho. Like if we could break away/rebel from super earth & set up our own confederacy/galactic federation of planets. Like if we could Make alliances with other planets, factions, sub-factions, etc. so much stuff they could’ve done with this. But nevertheless I love the game.

I hope we get planets where multiple enemy factions are trying to take it over and we get 3 way battles. Imagine fighting both the illuminate and the automatons at the same time they are fighting each other
If that happens, I could imagine the coloured areas of the galaxy and the planets in the different sectors being coloured as a mix. Automatons are red, terminids are yellow, and illuminates are blue. So if we’re going by colour palette wise, as an example Illuminates vs Automatons = Purple zone and so forth for the other faction combinations.
The idea of shield bases that we can't use orbitals or eagles on is really cool! Now we'll have to force ourselves under heavy fire to take out the shield to achieve Peace and Democracy!

It would be funny where whenever there is a leak like this that the devs decide to say "They broke secrecy, let's punish further by introducing hard enemies" or by nerfing certain items. Would be in line with their attitude not gonna lie.
Old veteran from the First Galactic War here (Helldivers 1). They are a highly advanced mollusk-based alien species who seemed peaceful at first but the Ministry of Diplomacy had discovered that they posessed weapons of mass destruction that could destroy entire planets, I bet they could even destroy entire star systems. Our peaceful and defensive government could not tolerate such threat to our homes to exist, so we set sail to each of their worlds to confisc- I mean to destroy those WMDs and to expan- I mean, to establish a defensive zone against any possible destruction attacks. Near the end of the war we drove the Illuminates out of galaxy instead of annihilating them because we are a merciful, democratic, and tolerant civilization.

I wonder what happens if any of the factions reach Super Earth. Would that be the death of the game or would that just mean the Helldivers become the resistance instead of the army.
In the first game, if Super Earth gets invaded, you would have to defend it. If you fail, you get an ending where Super Earth gets blown up and the survivors flee to find a new home. The campaign just resets.
If we get the Illuminates around summer, Joel might be cooking some defeat scenario where we all defend super Earth on October 26, Liberty day. The galactic map right now shows active players in super Earth which is weird. If those are play testers then it's a lot, 600 at a time even.
I think there's game files people have datamined that show some of Super Earth's terrain features (cities, buildings, etc) so there's 100% chance we'll be fighting on Super Earth sometime in the future.

I wonder what happens if any of the factions reach Super Earth. Would that be the death of the game or would that just mean the Helldivers become the resistance instead of the army.
In the first game, if Super Earth gets invaded, you would have to defend it. If you fail, you get an ending where Super Earth gets blown up and the survivors flee to find a new home. The campaign just resets.
If we get the Illuminates around summer, Joel might be cooking some defeat scenario where we all defend super Earth on October 26, Liberty day. The galactic map right now shows active players in super Earth which is weird. If those are play testers then it's a lot, 600 at a time even.
I think there's game files people have datamined that show some of Super Earth's terrain features (cities, buildings, etc) so there's 100% chance we'll be fighting on Super Earth sometime in the future.
