I explain how have an extremely successful day getting into the bite and bring home some fish to eat, when the conditions are not favorable for traditional methods like trolling for fish. If you're getting into saltwater fishing for Dolphin and want to learn more about the one bait that will catch more than anything, or you're a seasoned pro searching for some different perspective on the subject with some good old fashioned excitement involved... Then this episode's for you.

    Great video Heath. Mahi fishing can be some of the most exciting times on any boat when the bite turns on!!!! Like you, I’m fishing for Mahi almost exclusively on light spinning setups. Makes for a great fight, especially when the occasional Blackfin Tuna jumps into the mix. Stay well. Jay

      Hi Jay, thanks a million for watching and always sharing. I agree there's nothing quite like a hot dolphin bite on light gear. Thanks for the great video Heath. I just came across your channel yesterday and like your simple and to the point instructional videos. It’s great seeing you getting out there in a 17 footer similar to what I get out there in. You make me realize I need to pull my boat out of the garage and get out there more often. In the video, when you mention that besides the buck tail jigs you were using, you had natural baits out…..what type of natural baits are you using. ? Live or dead? Ballyhoo or something else?
    Thanks for your help!. Great seeing you out there with your family!

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a boat load for watching and leaving some great feedback. Definitely get that boat and start putting it to use. Boats don't like sitting around for too long. The natural bait I was using was a frozen Spanish Sardine, sorry I forgot to mention that. Really though, when the Dolphin are hungry like that, they'll eat almost anything... Ballyhoo, squid, bonito chunks. Thanks again for your support of the channel, I truly appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Hi Heath, Justin was really hooking up those Dolphin. The white bucktails are very popular in the North East for Flounder. They are the most universal bait for saltwater fish. They seem to catch everything. Hope the family's well. "Hi" to Avi and the "fishing Girls". I haven't been fishing for two weeks. I've been shooting on the days when it's not been too hot. Good luck and have fun, Mickey

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

      Hi Mickey, thanks for watching. Avi and the girls say "Hi". I bet that heat can get unbearable, especially with no ocean breeze to cool you off. Hopefully, it cools down a little for you soon. My brother hadn't been fishing like that in about 10 years, so it made it a special trip, especially since we pretty much got ultra lucky and landed right on top of the dolphin. He was pretty sore and beat up the next day. So, I guess I did my job. Hope all is well with you and your family. I'll talk to you on Thursday. Take care :)

      Hi Heath, I looked like Justin was enjoying himself. It's always fun to get into a school of fish right away and get into the action. There's an indoor range near me, with A/C. I'll go there on hot or rainy days. "Hi" to everyone and good luck. Talk to you on Thurs. Mickey

    Hi Heath, sorry late as always but just wanted to check in and give the algorithm a boost. Looking forward to watching the video later tonight. Don't know what's going on with the weather here in Bali. It's supposed to be the dry season but we're having rainy weather almost every day. Our mahi-mahi and king mackerel (local name tenggiri) seasons run together usually in August and September but I don't know what's going to happen this year.
    Tight lines and stay safe everyone!

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a bazillion for watching (later) and always sharing. I concur, our weather has been bonkers for months. We are in the summer months, where the ocean should be like a lake, highly not the case. There hasn't really been too much of a shift in the fish migratory pattern, but there's definitely an atmospheric change. Oh well, adapt and overcome, is what I always say. 2 things you can't control when it comes to fishing are the weather, and if the fish are going to bite. Hope all is well with you and your family. Thanks again for everything you do. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Hi Heath thank you for an awesome video. Can you in the near future do an instructional video on how to troll weedless strip baits for MAHI since lately theres a lot of scatter pieces of sargassum ; making it very difficult to troll surface lures thank you.

      Thanks a million for watching and leaving some excellent feedback. I truly appreciate it and your support for the channel. Thanks for the great idea, I agree the small scattered weeds have been obnoxious this year. I believe the sargassum bloom was big, and the winds blowing the way they have been, are not making it idea conditions for them to bunch up. I will put it on my "to do" list. Thanks again.
