Great swap makes the truck much more useable. Also it's great working with a guy like Clint who knows what to do and does it without any instruction! Things seem to go more smoothly that way.

To get the diesel gearing you want use the Dana80 out of a late 90s freightliner step van..like a snap on tool truck. 8:25 it has the six lug buds so your wheels will bolt right up it’s a disc brake rear end and should have a 331 ratio so with your tires 1800 RPM should be about 62 mph… I did this swap into a 1956 F 8:25 600 and have been driving it for 15 years

It's a great engine swap, while it's sad that the old engine is gone, the new engine is great because it will have a better fuel economy, easier to maintain parts wise and it'll be stronger when it comes to transporting cars or cargo! Not to mention, the engine looks good in the bay, to an untrained eye they'd probably think it's the factory engine.

what you could use for a Fan ,is one from a Mercedes ML . They are almost as big as your rad, but require a controller to regulate the power to the fan motor. I understand guys over on the main mopar forum have figured this out and Run Mercedes C class fans (cheap at most car scrappers) on big block powered cars.

You will love the reliability, simplicity and MPG of the 12 valve Cummins. Mine can sit 3-4 weeks,
and with just a mere bump of the key, it fires right up every time.
If you do not have the 2 speed rear axle, you may still have to consider a higher r&p gear ratio to
yield an ideal cruising/towing speed while keeping the Cummins max torque range at 2000rpm.

You should really add a crossmember back at the front spring rear hangers. I've dealt with a lot of trucks that people removed those and that leads to the frame or front cab mount brackets cracking. People think it will be fine with a crossmember in front and behind them. But there is a lot of twisting forces in that area.

I am getting ready to swap a 12v 5.9 Cummins into a 1969 FORD N600 that currently has a 330 V-8 FE engine. I expect the frame mounts are very similar to yours. Do you have any photos showing the slight modifications you made to the cross member and mounts?

A friend gave me a low mile 32 Essex Super Six 4 door unusable artifact. 60hp won't go, mechanical brakes won't stop, tractor steering won't turn. Got the actual Super Six, (Ford 300) figuring couple of days swap. Nope, had to cut frame at the fire wall to extend it. Replaced 300 throttle body with Weber side draft. 60 bird rear springs matched Essex spring mounts. F1 dropped axle/disk brakes and 4 runner power steer column also easy install. The topper was filling in Essex roof with rare 60 bird moon roof (don't hate me, bird t-boned long ago). Now a proper usable cruiser. Luck favors the bold.
