EVERQUEST NEXT IS CANCELLED BOYS, FUCK DAYBREAK FOREVER ----------------------- Here it is! The first look into EverQuest Next that was shown at SOE Live 2013.
All I can find is that the CEO of "Daybreak Games" (the company that SOE became when sony sold it off) said that "once they got major pieces together it just wasn't fun". I think they just didn't want to spend the money to develop a new MMO.
@@sean8102 That's exactly it. They were too scared to go out on a limb and create such an innovative game. Instead, they retreated to their existing titles and decided to milk them.
@@sean8102. I think that SOE had people in important places that didn't care or didn't know what they were doing. They mismanaged the shit out of PS2 and that zombie game they made was chasing a fad that was already dead.
I guess They Didn't get the Ok with Holly Longdale on EverQuest Next since She was part of the means to Stop them and Now She working on World of Warcraft Classic as a Lead in Charge. lol
Sony sold of Sony Online Entertainment. An investment group that had nothing to do with games bought them. They just funded them enough to keep the current games alive (Planetside 2, EQ I and II etc) and canceled EQ next. They didn't want to invest the large amount of money it must cost to build a brand new MMO. Very sad, if they could have truly delivered on these concepts it could have been something really special.
Really good presentation, Dave definitely has a lot of charisma and easily wins the crowd around, even though the game pretty much speaks for itself, Good to see someone so passionate about the project :) Can't wait for EQ next!
Im still so sad ! This game was supposed to renew the mmorpg genre ! I don't know the exact reason for the game to be cancelled but honestly fuck it ! Fuck whatever reasons resulted in the cancelling of one of the most promising game ever !
"On March 11, 2016, Daybreak announced development had been discontinued. Daybreak Game Company's president, Russell Shanks, said that "As we put together the pieces, we found that it wasn't fun." IMO they just didn't want to spend the money to build a new MMO (no small task) really once Sony sold off SOE the writing was on the wall.
It's a sandbox, there is no endgame, that would defeat the purpose of it being a sandbox. There's always new things to do and discover, and you set your own goals
Every game gets a lot of hype and doesn't always turn out the way it was shown before release. The ideas for this sound amazing but I'll believe it when I play it.
He's not saying multiclassing is new; he's saying you can pick and choose your abilities from each new job you learn and build your own class....So people can have the exact same 4 classes, for instance, but one uses fire and the other uses ice (I don't know what the abilities are so just throwing things out off the top of my head), so each is unique and different. That's what he meant, and I haven't played a game that has had that option before.
The core concepts of this game are freaking mind blowing. NPC that occupy the world intelligently instead of just spawn points. A world that actually grows and evolves based on the community. Full destructibility means no preset paths you are forced down. These are all game changers... Truly a Next Gen game, paving the way that everyone will eventually follow... Just like EQ.
We have officially discontinued the development of "Renaissance - Chronicles of Chronia". We also decided to post the whole Design Documentation, which we created in 2006. If you like real sandbox, you will miss that! just visit renaissance-mmorpg . com
The multi class idea sounds like some of the very best ideas from FFXIV, Rift and the original Guild Wars. Also being able to mod different abilities from other weapons into your favored weapon. I look forward to 2014.
I completely agree. I've never been into everquest, i'm more of a warcraft player (don't shoot me), but warcraft has been lacking so much for quite some time now and elder scolls online along with this game are giving something to really look forward to. Can't wait to see how they both pan out.
It will be f2p but dont let that discourage you. They said it will be a sandbox game. That says to economy, in a economy based sandpark or sandbox game you can not have pay to win items. It would simply destroy the economy.
If you like that presistent 3-4 years game I would recommend staying with wow or trying out rift :) Don't think off it as "The wow killer" Think off it as a fun game! Not beacause you will play it for 1000s off hours but because you will enjoy every hour you do put in
The only 'bad' thing I saw was a hint at characters having only a few skills. I hated GW2 where I could only have one real hotbar of skill to use. I'm hoping they just wanted to save stuff to feed us later but I saw only about 4 or 5 skills being used per char.
If you remasted EQ1, added better/more quests, added a few QOL changes like a little bit better exp etc, you would have a decent game without having to compete with WoW
Weapon and class combos sound just like GW2, not really impressed by that. But the idea of mixing and matching different classes can be potentially good.
And - if everything is really destructible... Hell, after 1 week whole world will be destroyed. It may be weird if players will decide "Hey, let's destroy all these mountains" or something.
I played a Keran monk in EQ2. But they have gone full on Disney. Seems their targeting kids, makes sense. They will get plenty of adults as well. I see them doing well. It will be play for free within 3 months after release. Ill be playing T.E.S.O.
the things the game does sounds awesome, but man, I don't know if I can take the cartoon thing. Am I the only one who has a hardcore hatred for the industry wide move to everything being cartoons?
help bring back LM and EQ3 DBG got bought by EG7 and the new CEO is a cool gamer & EQ3 player so u might wanna send them your love for EQ3 & landmark :)
For instance Eve Online....One server (Obviously load balanced over a server farm but everyone in the same instance) Otherwise you get the standard instanced, non-persistent world and personally I can't play them because of that cringe factor with every MMO (If you have played them, you know what I mean) If Sony is able to pull this off, they will dominate the MMO market...I know that millions of players would like to get of the "MMO hop" where you hop from one to another looking for a AAA procedurally generated, persistent world that is not Eve.
For instance I play primarily Single Player rpg because I get the immersive, stuff I do MATTERS in the game experience. In a MMO, nothing is effective because its all one multiple instance, respawn in 5 minutes nonsense.
Joseph Dungee Seems like you and I have the same tastes, but I can't seem to get what you mean about the number of servers. What do you think makes it _less_, rather than _more_ difficult to do a single-universe EVE-like setup? That just seems very counterintuitive.
Just looking at how Eve Online is operated and would prefer that Next! so that there would be alot more continuity of gameplay, events, etc. (The Single-Player one world with the benefits of MMO built-in multi-player facet)
bout time. I was getting really pissed at the industry as a whole. We've had the tech for years but it took almost a decade and a half to get the damn developers to invest the time and money. I cut my teeth on MMOs in everquest. It will be a much refreshing change from the wow clones. I really like how they are copying alot of stuff from Wildstar. Really excited. This stuff is long overdue.
The plus is this (HOPEFULLY) will be THE next big game....the down side is it will attract all those experiencing EQ for the first time and as such I have no doubt there will be whiners who aren't use to actually earning stuff that will massively get it nerfed...like they did when Luclin came out :(
Wow isnt the most popular. League is. In mmo, sure, wow. But its dropping fast. I agree with u, hopefully they will make an insane good end game just like wow with some of gw2 combined. IT seems good.
SOE is just like all the others now....quest based limited world play. Now they were on to something with the endless free roaming true world environment of EQOA, but they faultered, shut the servers down and never gave the development of that project any thought. Instead they conformed....
I've seen ALOT of online games Hyped way beyond their worth. While the presentation was good, it was mostly sales pitch/talk, very little video. I'll wait till it's actually released and see what happens. I'm sure Blizzard wanted to put off their next MMO to gather ideas from games like this and Wildstar though. We'll see what happens, I'm never Pre-ordering or buying "Founders Packs" again though, especially when most games these days go F2P 4-9 months after release.
I fear this will end up like GW2... All these MMORPGs that are comming out these days menage to fuck up classes and end game.... Losing holy trinity is not the way to go... Maybe it's only me but for an mmo these are not the important things. There is a reason to why WoW is still the most popular game out there. You pick your class , choose your role and you concentrate on the end game. I love what I've seen for now tho. Hope they don't screw it up
I seriously don't like the cartoonish feel that sony has put on the the game. It's not the realistic and amazing quality that is in EQII. They should have kept the EQII Kerran look, and just implemented a bit of a curved spine for the really cool sprint, but, seriously… my favorite race was butchered. Kojacke - Crushbone
I know most EQ'ers like to keep it classic, but thats the best thing about EQN this is the NEXT generation its about the future of EQ, nothing stays the same. Just gotta roll with it :)
Sophistícated Díglett Thank you! That's exactly it. It looks nothing like the other games at all. There's a sense of continuation between EQI and EQII, but this is not there between EQII and EQN. It might as well take out the spires (only thing in the entire game I could recognize) and become its own game with its own name. Kojacke - Crushbone
Sophistícated Díglett It is, with some of the same names of towns, same continent.. it will be entirely different way to play.. So yes its a entire new game yet with SOME oldies thrown inside. --- They will not keep the same they already said it. I have been playing EQ since 2002. I have played EQOA, EQ and EQ II. I'll take any EQ over none i guess, but that's just me. I see what you and ton others are seeing though, i guess it is what it is.
RIP in peace. I hope David Georgeson will one day explain wtf happened with the buyout and layoffs.

Never played any of the games in the series, but EverQuestNext caught my eye. Definitely looks exciting!
EVERQUEST IS CANCELLED BOYS TIME TO GO HOME
The one who got away. Still sad about this :(
I was looking forward to this. Can't believe they just scrapped it... Idiots! I think it would've done well.

+1 if you came here to smirk at this video after learning of its cancellation

RIP EQ Next officially cancelled.
Can't wait for this game! Looking good!
i really like this presenter... he makes things interesting.
If you're talking about Dave Georgeson, I like him too ;)
Xuru Anoa
correct... but I'm extremely surprised this product was not showing up at E3 this year.
It might be awhile..
Waiting for Ashes of Creation now
Dave Georgeson, how do you sleep at night? lol
Gonna spread the words to my homies, a new legend is birthing

the world of experincing things for yourself than from others.
Thanks for uploading this. Looking forward for next EQ game. :)
If I wanted a cartoon MMO I would still be playing WOW.
The only devs that can top the original Everquest are EQ devs!
Well done guys cant wait!
Smedley's SWG Derp. Ah well, can't hold a grudge forever. This is looking pretty smart and I'm very much looking forward to it.
man I could really enjoy this alot

Best 1 hour of my life!

Take the money and run.
Just... hope dude... HOPE!
The story of EverQuest Next: War of Worldcraft. Big ups SOE, and watch out Blizzard.
I have never played EQ, I always thought it was ugly... this is very interesting and beautiful.
I played eq 1 and eq2 and I've played a lot of Mimi's and this game has soooo much potential and I hope it the best. TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!
Try Guild Wars 2, an already beautiful game with most of these features and NO monthly fee. They also have biweekly story releases.
Me Gusta,you Gusta,we all Gusta
I'm pretty sure they are showing the pc version. They show the devs playing the game on PC's.
so excited for this
No applause for the webcam feature? lol...
I cant wait to check this out! I have high hopes for this game.
Can't wait, I think this is gonna be my new game over Elder Scrolls :)
I completely agree. I've never been into everquest, i'm more of a warcraft player (don't shoot me), but warcraft has been lacking so much for quite some time now and elder scolls online along with this game are giving something to really look forward to. Can't wait to see how they both pan out.
OMG i want to play the kitty!
Guild Wars 2 is a theme park game not a sandbox, there is going to be a very big difference between the two games.
Genre de jeu dans lequel je passerais plus de temps à créer des choses que jouer ;-)
It will be f2p but dont let that discourage you. They said it will be a sandbox game. That says to economy, in a economy based sandpark or sandbox game you can not have pay to win items. It would simply destroy the economy.

Remember the promo videos for Diablo 3 when it was in production? Seemed too good to be true. And it was. I get the feeling this will be the same : (
rip in peace
a lot of good ideas!

Wow!! Everquest disney! hell yea!
as long as customer service allow it, nice oncept wanna see how they implement it
I didn't see or hear anything in this about it being a console game.
the weapon skills sounds similar to Guild Wars 2. A good game to take ideas from.
If you remasted EQ1, added better/more quests, added a few QOL changes like a little bit better exp etc, you would have a decent game without having to compete with WoW
18:29 That right what i just said was very impressive. This node now symboles for you to clap
You are so wrong.... Landmark is basicly an updated Minecraft yes. The game Everquest Next is not....
Weapon and class combos sound just like GW2, not really impressed by that. But the idea of mixing and matching different classes can be potentially good.
don't care about this game but getting so excited about EQ3 tho!!!!!
I feel like the crowds that go to these things just cheer at everything they can.
Ok where can I give them my money?
*WoW devs sweating profusely*
yey i can finally use my imagination to the max :)
Eve Online is the most open ended sandbox mmo ever! Try it while you wait for this....
Smedley man, you got old... oh wait *counts fingers*... 14 years? doh
AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME AWSOMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
i think this game it going to take alot of eq eq2 and wow players cause i think its goin to rock
I dig it.
Already announced as F2P
And - if everything is really destructible... Hell, after 1 week whole world will be destroyed. It may be weird if players will decide "Hey, let's destroy all these mountains" or something.

Im thowing my money at the screen... BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING!!!
BOYS

welcome to the club bub : )
Procedurally generated worlds and emergent A.I. how is that possible on a non-single server mmo?? Or did I miss something?
Seems to me that doing it on a single server would be a hell of a lot harder. What do you mean?
For instance Eve Online....One server (Obviously load balanced over a server farm but everyone in the same instance)
Otherwise you get the standard instanced, non-persistent world and personally I can't play them because of that cringe factor with every MMO (If you have played them, you know what I mean)

Or people create new structures and terrains there.
Eq2 isn't really F2P.
all EQ games currently are F2P and all games associated with SOE are F2P so.. it's kinda self explanatory
combat looks like nevewinter.
AI idea seems so good... I fear if it really will be so good.
They'll fuck this game over in a few years like they're doing to the original EQ.
The plus is this (HOPEFULLY) will be THE next big game....the down side is it will attract all those experiencing EQ for the first time and as such I have no doubt there will be whiners who aren't use to actually earning stuff that will massively get it nerfed...like they did when Luclin came out :(
I'll lose my life to this game
Can I give them money?
wonder how strong a pc you'd have to have for it
Same engine as Planetside 2/H1Z1 etc so if you could run those you would have probably been fine to run this..
Overly hyping and swindling at its best here, nice job
As long as it's not a P2W
Wow isnt the most popular. League is. In mmo, sure, wow. But its dropping fast. I agree with u, hopefully they will make an insane good end game just like wow with some of gw2 combined. IT seems good.
i LOVE that you can destroy the environment around you thats amazing
SOE is just like all the others now....quest based limited world play. Now they were on to something with the endless free roaming true world environment of EQOA, but they faultered, shut the servers down and never gave the development of that project any thought. Instead they conformed....
disney-esque cartoon, no surpise this is a console game
make an RTS... Revive the old Lords of everquest...... :/
Ok, nevermind, Im silly. ;p world will heal itself

Realistic? Since when are mages realistic? XD
i know if happened to me :)
Looks great. Going to need a really beefy system to run it, though.
This seems nothing like everquest
That's because it's a - wait for it...
reboot.
