Vanilla Bean ratio is a little light, unless those were super heavy beans. FDA's ratio is .85oz per 8floz of spirit (min 35%) so you may not get as robust or complex of a vanilla flavor as you'd expect. Currently have 3 gallons cold extracting at 1oz per 8floz 40%. So a little heavier on the vanilla.
@just_in_cake Just don't want you to spend all that time trying to make extract and you wind up with vanilla flavored vodka instead. You can add more beans early on, it will just push back your brewing start date a little.
Side note, you can use pretty cheap vodka for this. 5 oclock or popov would even work. It doesnt necessarily matter how expensive or good the vodka is. The proof is all that matters
@@Charlie59876 i mean... The bottles of Smirnoff, 5 O'Clock, and Popov all claim to be 40%. I kinda doubt they're shrinkflating vodka yet but if you tested them and it came up as less, im sure you could find a lawyer and sue the company. But i dont think that's the case. You can look at most vanilla recipes and they call for cheap vodka most of the time actually. I just didnt want anyone to have the idea that buying nice or more expensive alcohol will enhance the flavor of your vodka. Adding more beans and repeating the process is the only way to make it taste "better".
Imagine ur having a rough day and run out of alcohol but u remember the vanilla vodka 😂 I wish you luck in not drinking it for 8 months to a year lol, ill see u next time!
Price seems reasonable for household use. Most people bake here and there, but I see why for you it would be a dilemma since in almost every recipe theres always that tsp of vanilla.

Imagine he forgets about it and it just sits in there for 30 years XD

Yaaa probably should have done that but happened to walk past Tito’s in the super market
Most vodka now is 37.5%.. so you will need an expensive one for this
