  • In this video, I demonstrate the rib stitch in Portuguese Knitting. This technique is the same any time you're alternating knit and purl stitches in a row (ribbing, seed stitch, etc). You can see all of my Portuguese Knitting videos in this playlist:

Thank you so much for this series of Portuguese Knitting videos. Watched all of them at once and am excited for tonight when I can try the technique out on my current WIP, especially those purl stitches! Always find your videos and podcasts entertaining and enlightening! Keep ‘em coming!

Boa noite, Staci, muito obrigada por divulgar o nosso estilo de tricotar, há quem use um alfinete no ombro para tricotar e crochetar. Muito tradicional também!

Great tutorial! Since I started watching your videos, I have learned so much. Originally I learned to combination knit, but to me it was just knitting. Now I can knit combination and Western both flicking and Continental. Portuguese knitting is next. It's so helpful to be able to use the best technique for the project at hand. Thanks!

As a part of this Portuguese series could you please teach how to modify a pattern to knit something inside out? So you could take, say, a stockinette pattern with some fair isle and Portuguese purl for the majority of the work?

I love all the Portuguese knitting updates! The pink yarn on the orange needles is kinda hard to see. Wish we had the option to adjust hue on our iPads. ❤️

I have had the knitters pride 8 inch dp needle set for almost 3 years now, and I find them quite nice to use. They have held up very well, in fact they look almost new, and I use them a lot. Since I just starting my first pair of socks, I think I might be interested in the shorter needle set. Thanks for the give-aways, I enjoy learning about new products.

This looks to neat, I have never seen Portuguese Knitting before. When I saw the needles I was like "OMG why are they not available outside of the US and Canada?" but then I realized that it was the same brand as KnitPro, which is available here :D I love their needles, too! They are so smooth ♥

Hi Staci! Many thanks for your awesome vids! I've just started a garter stitch shawl with portugese purling, it is really so much fun and easy as pie. This pattern requires short rows. I figured out sg using german short rows based on your instructions. It looks okay, but there might be a batter way. If you could make a tutorial on short rows with portugese knitting, especially with purling, that'd be amazing. Thanks :)

I'm working on learning color work, and was wondering if you might be going over how to do so with Portuguese knitting? Thanks for all your wonderful tutorials!

Love this knitting style. I used it on a sweater I just finished. I utilized both styles of knitting ( Portuguese for purling the wrong side). By using 2 styles of knitting I had way less hand fatigue so I could knit for a longer amount of time. I am about to start a "double knitted" scarf. Can I use Portuguese knitting for 2 strands of yarn? I'm going to give it a try. Your videos will give me the confidence I need to try this. Wish me luck😋
