- This is the line dance they do in the movie "Saturday Night Fever" to the song "Night Fever" - don't forget to watch in HD. It is sometimes called "The Brooklyn Shuffle". We do this in class at NEVER STOP DANCING, and people often ask me to go over the steps, so this video breaks it all down. When I teach this in class I have my back to the class, and I move to all four sides of the room as the class move around, so that they can always follow me.
Thank you to the gorgeous Savanna who helped me show you the steps, and my amazing morning class regulars who appear in snippets at the beginning and end. We were also joined by a couple of ladies from the Ballroom Dance class that follows our class ... they did really well because they had never done it before :).

Just like they taught us at Hardy's Pub in Greensburg, PA after Fever came out. Took that dance lesson down to 2002 in White Oak, our disco, and made sure we got that timeless line dance done right. We called it the Bus Stop. Doesn't matter. Playing Night Fever was too cool back then.

This dance was my party piece when I was a dj many years ago. Still remember all the moves but the knees are a bit creaky now.

I learned Buggy linedance watching videos and finally I learned this amazing choreo that I have always wanted to learn to break the floor, I am sure I would be alone since not everybody knows it but I will be proud of myself

From a learner's perspective: If she'd specify which foot you start on in the beginning and for each set of steps that would be helpful. Also, if she'd go into a bit more detail on the exact footwork when changing walls(because the turn 3/4 to the left happens on the third beat before the direction and repetition of the dance changes)it would be much easier to grasp. Other than that, AWESOME video; and I love her positive energy! She makes it look fun and easy for everyone!
Thanks for the feedback. This one was done a number of years ago and I have learned a lot about YT tutorials since then 😁. 1. Walking back x4, start on R foot. Walking forward x4, start on L foot.
2. Grapevine turn to R, first step on R foot. Grapevine turn back to L, first step on L foot.
3. Kick ball change x2, kick R foot both times
4. Skate x4, point R first
5. Seatbelt x4, point R first.
6. Step in R foot, then L (rolling arms), then chicken, chicken (click heels & flap elbows).
7. R heel, R toe, R heel with a turn.

Just before those famous 4 disco points, the swivel steps are called "skate steps". The option is there to do progressive forward movements in each of the skate steps before you do the famous Travolta disco points (4 of them), just before you do those log-rolls and the funky-chicken step afterward.......
But if you do those skate steps in place, I think this doesn't matter. I researched lots of tutorials on how to do this famous disco line hustle dance........
They are called skate steps because roller-skating discotheques blossomed almost the same way as regular disco clubs blossomed in the late 1970s.
Thank you Charles ... I love the roller skating moves/references in this track. Because my classes can be quite crowded we do them on the spot, but you are quite right that originally many people would have "skated" forwards when doing this dance. Thanks again for the comment ... it will be very useful for people wanting to learn the steps :).

Running on the treadmill it's just not the same. Now I can just stay home and watch videos to do my exercises!!! Are you on this video?

I'm in the US. The State I'm in is currently not in lockdown. Gyms are open but all classes are cancelled. It's pretty sad. I'm fine using treadmill and other exercise equipments, but I missed the classes. Thank you for this beautiful video...you all looks so beautiful and handsome!!! You are very lucky being in New Zealand, for not having any covid issues...we are not that lucky here. Many people that I know, and close friends got sick and I lost two best friends. So, thanks for your videos...CHEERS!!!❤❤

In the tutorial at the beginning you do everything with your left foot and arm and turn to the left in the grapevine even though you say turn to your right, then when the music is playing everything is done with the right foot and arm and you turn to the right. So people please note if you are trying to learn this it's RIGHT not LEFT!

Excellent job! Thanks for this. I've watched a couple of"disco dancing" videos that mixed moves from the '60s and '80s with an occasional '70 move, but this is the dancing I did as a 'tween and teen. Thanks again.

We dance Zumba every Tuesday evening. We are looking to do something exciting in the hall that our teacher rents for Zumba. My daughter is very good at picking up steps. We will have a line dance afternoon soon, as she know quite a few line dances like Acky Breaky and a few others. We will be adding this to our so called repertoire because you are so good at teaching it on this vid. I will let you know how it went. Hopefully we can film it and put in on you tube. Should be a lot of fun.
