We just beat a new fire and thus the closure of the range. Not knowing, we spent 3 days enjoying it all to ourselves and checking out the previous burn areas.
Last Friday, I checked online to see what the status of the West Fork was, and it showed it being open. So, I drove up early Saturday morning only to find a roadblock and that the entire San Gabriel Drainage had been shut down due to a flare up in Iron Fork Canyon.
I feel your pain dude. When you lost that big one. I don't know what a tippet is but I bet it's what we normally refer to as a leader. You said it was 3.5 pound tippet? Either that fish had really sharp teeth or it was HUGE.
its the line between your tapered leader and the fly, to prevent you from having to cut the leader, they are expensive. Frogs hair line is super strong and abrasion resistant. It broke mid way
@@mobiltec denied. it is a piece of straight line between the fly and the Leeder, to be used up as you change flies, without cutting into the tapered leader. I use am20" pice of tippet. when it broke, there was aboput8" still there, so, it took half the tippet. meaning, it was a break, not teeth
@@PHARRAOH Wow. That probably would have been the largest trout you had taken out of there ever. I've never seen a pole of yours bend that much or have so much action out there. Good job anyhow Alan.
@@PHARRAOH you could put that theory to the test with a truly pissed off rattlesnake that you’ve backed into a corner then hold your hand in its face. Of course I’d rather not see you try that.
I just love your videos ❤❤❤ hope they continue forever.
Thank you, feel free to join us/me any time
Sounded like a dry bite to me. Could have been much worse. Glad you;re ok. Thanks for the video

At least is going be clean a few months... I miss the days when you go there to
the river is clean... Lately the people dont respect...
about 10 years back, myself and about 30 people, cleaned an area spotless, covers trash graffiti and all. 2 weeks later, it was worse than before
How far up bear creek did you go?
to west, then up west
Good
thank you

@@PHARRAOH So the tippet is like a second leader? And it's in the middle?

You were lucky because you got dry bites both times.
