    I used to love Miami, not really South Beach but the northern part (Aventura/Sunny Isles) but over the years it has lost its magic to me. I had a vacation in 2019 and stayed in Lauderdale by the Sea and I absolutely love it. It is not as hectic and fancy as Miami but I like it that way. Everything is in walking distance and accommodation was also very affordable thanks to Airbnb. I got tired of paying for unnecessary resort fees. I will definitely come back!

      Hei Rikkid, thanks for commenting. Different areas appeal to different people which is a good thing to have some variety. Lauderdale By The Sea is definitely at the top of the list, especially at night. I appreciate you!

    Used to have a much better vibe, until they Renovated the area and took down all the beautiful 40' palms. And believe me, in s Florida you need all the shade you can get

    The other end of Lauderdale by the Sea has the Sea Ranch Club buildings. They are high rises.

      I know, as I mentioned, Lauderdale By The Sea does have the ordinance in place but some buildings are allowed. Not sure how all that works, but I'm not sure if that area is technically Lauderdale By The Sea and could be a reason they were allowed to build there. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_Ranch_Lakes,_Florida

      My recollection is that the area to the north of Sea Ranch Lakes was annexed by LBTS in 2001, which is long after they were developed with high rise buildings. Also, at the south end of LBTS, there are two high rise buildings that are technically within LBTS. This is where N Ocean Drive ends and N Ocean Blvd begins.

      @@hejiranyc Thanks for the information, def a few high rises, but not many. I appreciate you!

      Might those southern-end high rises be the Galt Ocean Mile ones? That's a name that I remember for those tall, lumbering complexes that were at that area at the south end of LBTS (?).

    This was a great video presentation to find, because my parents and I used to vacation for a couple of weeks in early November each year around their wedding anniversary date, meeting multiple families who all came down from across the U.S. around the same time to stay in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea at the old Outrigger Hotel down there on El Mar Drive. I believe on Google Street-Level Maps that it's been long replaced now by a large condo complex. But it's amazing still to see among the rental locations still there the Sea Foam, as well as the High Noon further closer to the town center that my parents went on to stay at in later years. Those several couple of blocks really were a great "hidden gem" location, and it's nice to hear that it still seems to be that way. I wonder if the shopping center with Publix Supermarket is still nearby at the LBTS-Pompano line, as well as (although I doubt it) the fabulous Keese's Fried Chicken fast-food small restaurant that was located on the next street over and parallel to El Mar? Note that El Mar Drive's High Noon and Windjammer motels sport awesome live beach cams of the shoreline. I still miss the Outrigger, but it's nice to see the bit of midcentury architectural reverence as well as the ordinanced low-rise building height limits mentioned that still characterize the area. (Oh, and the old Murphy's Burgers establishment at the corner town square is also sorely missed. :))

    I need to ask. I just returned back from my first-ever trip to Miami Beach. How is it for tanning etc in Fort Lauderdale say mid-February? Miami Beach was hot, which was nice, mid-June.

    • @robertzeoli
      @robertzeoli  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      February is great for tanning and some of the best weather of the year, temperatures would be in the mid 70's. Thanks for the question and for watching!

    • @italoman9

      My family and I used to go in early November, and it would be beautiful in mostly 80s during the days and 70s at night, with lots of sun. I also have been in February when it was more intensively hot and humid; as well as May, when it was like sticking one's head inside of an electric oven. ;o But always great weather featuring breezy, warm tropical winds even right off the water.
