Hello! I’m new to your channel! I’m new to Boston scally caps, a good friend of mine bought me my first Boston Scally hat (the Boondock collector edition black and love it so yesterday I ordered 3 more and am excited to get them! I got the whiskey smoke and rye plaid, the bare knuckle iron and gravel and the kenmoore scally coolidge black with brown brim! I always wore baseball caps because like you I am follicly challenged and never thought I would look good in a scally cap! Now I’m hooked
Nice collection! I have only 4 caps from Boston Scally, but I love them all. I have The Black Rose, The Blood Rose, The Irish Rose, and The Boondock - Black Rock & Brogue. Have to say of the 4, The Black Rose is easily my favorite. Such a fantastic cap!

I have a bunch myself, ten if memory serves. I originally wanted that red Christmas Peaky, but it was sold out. Many of my coworkers wear red on Fridays for the deployed troops. I ended up getting the red Teddy. The colors and materials make it so you can coordinate with your wardrobe no matter the season or your personal taste. Also as you mentioned, the limited edition hats make things interesting.
Haha...you and I talked before on your review of the blue canvas cap. I think you're talking about Matt on No BS Beard Reviews...he influenced me to buy 2 caps he highlighted. In order for me to keep from falling too deep into the rabbit hole I decided to make my last cap the "Hare" and that was the last cap video I did... Love it, it fits perfect and is both sharp and unique. It doesn't allow my head to seat very deep like the others but it's a nice one! Take care man and keep your head covered!!
I've never been a hat guy, other than when I was in the military and had to wear one, but I've always liked the style of the "Flat Cap". I shave my head and I have a small head, but recently decided to try one of these. I bought The Bruiser in Stone Grey in XS size. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the hat and put it on and it looked pretty good on my small narrow head. I measured my head and it's right at 55cm, which is kind of in the middle of their sizes While the size was a little smaller, I knew it would stretch out a little once I wore it a bit. I also tried The Townie in Navy Blue, but decided to return it. Right after I dropped the package off at the post office, I had the refund gift card in my email. I have now made a purchase of The Bruiser in Black and The Plaid Trainer in Dark Grey & Black color. I'm hoping they work out as well as the first one. I have been making a list of the others I may want to get as long as these next 2 work for me. I doubt I'll get a collection as large as yours, but I may add a 1 or 2 of The Peaky's and/or The Original for the winter.

I was really hoping to see you try these on so we can see what they look like cuz some of these have a pretty different shape which I'm not really sure if I would like or not so modeling the hats with a front view in the side of you and maybe like a halfway in between front side of you would have been great so they could get a really good idea of what what is actually look like when somebody's wearing them and how they're shaped
the repel and the worker are the only scally caps I own and I’m satisfied with them. Sizing was a little off but no big deal, all my collection of flat caps have odd sizing. Practical & functional are my purpose for wearing hats before fashion. I just wish they were made in USA 🇺🇸 besides that, their designs are pretty cool.✌️👍

I just received my 'Captain' in Black Pearl, Island Green and Topaz Blue from Boston Scally and I quite like the fit. I'm a little on the fence about whether or not they are over priced. I have a couple of Gottmann's that were roughly the same price and the stitching/materials used are quite superior to Boston Scally. The lite material of the 'Captain' makes it a great Summer choice though. Your hat collection looks great and you're certainly enjoying them. Thank you for sharing!

Overpriced or not, they were diligent in my exchange and shipping, and shipped my pins with the order at no charge. Customer service like that is hard to beat. I keep going to their website looking for my next hat. Dang again!
I agree Boston Scally hats are great hats, good quality and extremely reasonable. I like the flat cap style vs the eight panel “skull “ style cap. Have two, the Afectionado cigar ash color. Inside is a picture of a guy holding a cigar. My other is a patch work “the Lad” which I bought the Irish pin that looks like the Guinness harp type thing. I do find that their sizes are inconsistent. The patchwork hat fits a bit larger and fuller where as the regular flat cap is snug/tighter but acceptable. If you use the code “BScally “ you get free shipping. That’s better than the 10% off.

I can’t say it happens all the time or that it has bothered me much, but you are smart to pick that up. I originally like their Scally look, but have grown fonder of the traditional flat cap too.
So, i went ahead and purchased 3 hats not even a month ago. I got the Boondocks, Trainer and a Kenmore. I love them all. Especially the Trainer and the Kenmore. I hate the price of the hats, but I am in the process of buying more just because I, by surprise, really liked the hats.
Boston Scally pricing is actually reasonable for the quality of cap. Price out caps from Kangol or any authentic Irish driving cap, especially tweeds or wools and you may be pleasantly surprised.
I like the older styles better like the tradesmen. I don’t care for most of the other styles. The newer styles look like baseball caps covered with fabric. Thanks for the video.

I just bought the contender in a M/L size. It's a bit too big and doesn't stay on too well on my head so I was thinking of either throwing it in the wash or sending it back to Boston scally for an exchange to a smaller size. What are your thoughts?
Interesting. I’ve got a fat head, so being to large really never is a problem with me. 🙂 As for your question, I am paranoid about washing hats, especially if there might be cardboard in a brim. If you can exchange it for free (including shipping) or very inexpensively, I’d probably do that. However, you may want to make sure head size isn’t in some middle ground that will mean the next size down is too tight. You can put something inside the hat to make it tighter, but I wouldn’t assume you can stretch one that is too small.
Two out of the three I got didn't fit... I had to send them back only to find out I had to repay for the caps that never fit. I even tried to order a smaller size and they were one to small or to big. What would you do with this problem they arn['t accuret on size. Bad business on their part. If we could we would try them on in person but that's not possible.
They do not fit consistently because they are made in PRC, the quality is not as good as is stated here, and the price sux for what you are getting. This shill is talking community, how great they are, not a single negative in this “objective” review. The tide is changing, word is spreading thru the trades/unions in Boston now about where they are made, and also the company isn’t from Boston, isn’t in Boston, and neither is the owner. Nothing more than a slick, online website business, cleverly duping people, with the help of fake reviewers. Look in the company faq, or if you own one, lift up the size tag. You will see all you need to know! If you want a cap that is made in the PRC, overpriced, and has nothing to do with Boston except the use i. their name, then this is the cap to get.
Just received my Boston Scally.....not a good experience. Quality control issues on the stitching and my hat was dirty upon arrival. I shouldn't have to reach out to them the hat should be perfect. Glad you had a better experience than mine.

I have a question. I see the black Rose on the inside of this hat.. But on the order form it shows the Boston guy inside the hat. I wonder if that's a mistake or they switched it up. Because the Rose is much cooler.

Thanks for the question Hugh. I prefer to buy American, but am willing to purchase Chinese-made. As for 15% wool, I guess I would mentally prefer 100% wool hats in many cases, in the end I like what Boston Scally produces. I can fully understand if others prioritize things differently than me. I should also note that, growing up in NH, the "Boston" connection is probably a factor.
Boston Scally outsources to PRC “People Republic of China”. For $50 Id rather purchase a Mucros Weavers or Aran flat cap straight from Ireland. I get my scally caps on ‘weaversofireland’. From the SOURCE☘️
Those are nice I’ve had some from weavers of Ireland. Though nice my only thing with them is they don’t have as many styles .where’s eith Boston scalley they have normal ones as well as limited edition ones so you can kinda collect them n a way like a hobby
I totally agree, and I’m not necessarily happy about the idea of buying something made in China, especially while I’m typing on my iPhone, which was designed in California USA, and manufactured in China?! ‘Weavers of Ireland’ is an awesome source for (real) Irish hats! And my favorite hat is also a Mucros Weavers, (Trinity Forest Green). I have, however ordered two Boston Scally Caps, but it was before I found out where they originally come from. Nevertheless, if they’re good, I will wear them. I have however, ordered knives from China, and found the quality to be very poor when compared to Taiwan, who definitely has higher quality! Just something to be aware of.
I am not sure what is worse, your free commercial for them, or the bad quality of these caps. “Irish Style”? what is that? Is that how you are choosing to describe a cap that is made in the PRC? What person in the “trades” would knowingly wear it knowing its origin? And no one I know claiming Irish lineage would put that rag on their head! Have you found anything wrong with them? Like the fact they are only 15% wool? The hats are a fraud, and so is this review. Tell the truth at least, but then I guess you wouldn’t get paid!
Why in the world would i wear a flat cap that fits like a bowler cap? and there's no such thing as a "Scally Cap", the design is classic flat cap out of Europe (not Boston). A "Scally Cap" is simply bad marketing term for a brand. Per wiki: A flat cap or Higdon Hat is a rounded cap with a small stiff brim in front, originating in the British Isles. The hat is known in Ireland as a paddy cap, in Scotland as a bunnet, in Wales as a Dai cap, and in the United States as a flat cap, or pancake cap/hat (not a "Scally").

One could also argue that Kleenex is just tissue. :-) Not sure how they decided on “Scally,” but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a reason beyond just company branding. Either way, we all have freedom in our tastes and likes…so you don’t have to wear “a flat cap that fits like a bowler cap.” :-) Have a great weekend!
I love scally caps and worn my whole life. The price has me worried, it will be 2nd most I ever spent on one. The thing I'm worried about is size. Anyone have an easy way for me to figure out?
On the pages for the individual hats they have a size chart. For instance, if you go here: www.bostonscally.com/collections/best-sellers/products/the-boondock-collectors-edition-scally-cap, it shows the chart and how to measure. Just be forewarned is that not all of their caps fit exactly the same way. I have a huge head, so I go with XXXL. A few of my 20+ caps are pretty tight and a few are more loose. I could be wrong, but I think if you get one and it just won't fit, they'll work with you to get a size that does.

Thanks for the question Hugh. I prefer to buy American, but am willing to purchase Chinese-made. As for 15% wool, I guess I would mentally prefer 100% wool hats in many cases, in the end I like what Boston Scally produces. I can fully understand if others prioritize things differently than me.
I should also note that, growing up in NH, the "Boston" connection is probably a factor.
Boston Scally outsources to PRC “People Republic of China”. For $50 Id rather purchase a Mucros Weavers or Aran flat cap straight from Ireland. I get my scally caps on ‘weaversofireland’. From the SOURCE☘️

Those are nice I’ve had some from weavers of Ireland. Though nice my only thing with them is they don’t have as many styles .where’s eith Boston scalley they have normal ones as well as limited edition ones so you can kinda collect them n a way like a hobby
I totally agree, and I’m not necessarily happy about the idea of buying something made in China, especially while I’m typing on my iPhone, which was designed in California USA, and manufactured in China?!
‘Weavers of Ireland’ is an awesome source for (real) Irish hats!
And my favorite hat is also a Mucros Weavers, (Trinity Forest Green).
I have, however ordered two Boston Scally Caps, but it was before I found out where they originally come from.
Nevertheless, if they’re good, I will wear them.
I have however, ordered knives from China, and found the quality to be very poor when compared to Taiwan, who definitely has higher quality!
Just something to be aware of.
I am not sure what is worse, your free commercial for them, or the bad quality of these caps. “Irish Style”? what is that? Is that how you are choosing to describe a cap that is made in the PRC? What person in the “trades” would knowingly wear it knowing its origin? And no one I know claiming Irish lineage would put that rag on their head! Have you found anything wrong with them? Like the fact they are only 15% wool? The hats are a fraud, and so is this review. Tell the truth at least, but then I guess you wouldn’t get paid!
Why in the world would i wear a flat cap that fits like a bowler cap? and there's no such thing as a "Scally Cap", the design is classic flat cap out of Europe (not Boston). A "Scally Cap" is simply bad marketing term for a brand. Per wiki: A flat cap or Higdon Hat is a rounded cap with a small stiff brim in front, originating in the British Isles. The hat is known in Ireland as a paddy cap, in Scotland as a bunnet, in Wales as a Dai cap, and in the United States as a flat cap, or pancake cap/hat (not a "Scally").

Not sure how they decided on “Scally,” but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a reason beyond just company branding.
Either way, we all have freedom in our tastes and likes…so you don’t have to wear “a flat cap that fits like a bowler cap.” :-)

I love scally caps and worn my whole life. The price has me worried, it will be 2nd most I ever spent on one. The thing I'm worried about is size. Anyone have an easy way for me to figure out?
On the pages for the individual hats they have a size chart. For instance, if you go here: www.bostonscally.com/collections/best-sellers/products/the-boondock-collectors-edition-scally-cap, it shows the chart and how to measure.
Just be forewarned is that not all of their caps fit exactly the same way. I have a huge head, so I go with XXXL. A few of my 20+ caps are pretty tight and a few are more loose. I could be wrong, but I think if you get one and it just won't fit, they'll work with you to get a size that does.
