Up the Creek without a snorkel -Wrong turn up the Turon River

We explore the bridge to bridge track on the Turon River at Sofala between Wallaby Rocks and Coles Bridge.
Amazing campsites, fishing for cod and a wrong turn that leaves us up the creek without a snorkel.

I have fished all of that river from the wallaby rocks campground down past the next bridge and most of it up through to Turon gates - we had to walk it because back in the late 80s there were few if any 4wd tracks there , the river was full of trout and the river was way more overgrown . If you notice the old suspension bridge on the side of the road at Sofala , when I first went there it was still in use - we used to walk across it to get back to our camp after drinking the pub dry 😂 Then the flood came and washed th bridge away , the whole river changed and it was like paradise! Fire wood everywhere , new rapids to fish and the area next to the road bridge at Sofala (opposite the big hole )was turned into a giant sand bar which was way better than camping on river rocks ! If you watch an old movie called sirens it has some footage that was shot in the pub at Sofala and the people sitting at the bar are not actors - they are the real locals that were always sitting there whenever we went there - they would just stare at us as we walked in .
