You forgot to mention Jack in ME 3. If you don't complete the Grissom Academy mission in time, Jack will become a Phantom and you will be forced to kill her.
Jack becomes a generic Phantom with a unique name tag and her "I will destroy you" lines from ME2 with some other unique dialogue happening couple of times in the mission.
I saved everyone in ME2. Jack was my favorite character. I didn’t know Grissom Academy was on a timer. After you complete the Krogan mission, you just get told Grissom Academy was destroyed and you fight a weak ass Jack near the end. I was too many hours into ME3 to go back and save her. I ended up going to an early save to do Grissom Academy but was bummed to realize I wouldn’t have Jack in the Citadel at the end.
@@BaranZenon not trying to start an argumebt here, but do you know about the hidden clues in skyrim that the thalmor actually support the stormcloaks and want to weaken humans to ensure victory in the next great war? Sure, the imperials tried to kill you, even though it was more an error than intentional as hadvar points out. They just want to get the execution done and dont bother to fact check you. Its nothing personal. By joining the stormcloaks you divide humanity and split the forces they'd have in another war, since skyrim wouldnt really help them anymore. Or the elves attack it first to cycle the imperials in. In that scenario, skyrim would fend for itself and since stormcloaks arent exactly an organized military, they'd lose for sure. But its a game and your choice. Just wanted to point this out and if you dont care, then its fine. Thats the nice thing about skyrim. I believe there's even a video on this topic on this very channel

I actually got Wrex's family armor out of pure coincidence: I put Wrex in my squad to visit the fortress where his armor lay, without knowing it was there haha
it's also funny if he's not in your squad, you just pick the armor and then go see Wrex and shepard is like "i found an Krogan armour. isn't that yours?" and Wrex says "that's my family armor! thank you shepard". What are the odds xD
My legendary playthrough (2nd me1 playthrough) had me do that. I was focused om doing all side missions before mains tho repetitive it was cool when his dialogue was different when you already had it before he assigns it
Interestingly when it comes to Kirrahe, the only check you need to fulfil is destroying the Geth Flyers. If you ignore the rest of the side objectives he’ll still be just fine. That said, it’s worth doing the side objectives anyway because xp/credits.
@@ADthehawk Maybe it is percentage based. If you destroy the flyers, there is a chance he will live. If you destroy the dish, the chance is larger. Shut down the alarms, even larger and finally complete all four and he is 100% guaranteed to survive. Just a thought.
This is easy. Killing everyone is much more challenging, and requires some planning. Especially if we also want to kill as many side characters as possible.
By the way, playing it like that is not just much more challenging, but also teaches a lot about the differences between the 3 games. ME1: We can go on real murder spree here. Save the biotics? Kill them all! Save the colonists? Kill them all! There are many side quests which can be done without casualties, or with many… ME2: It is disappointing in this perspective. 1-1 side characters can be killed off here and there, but not a lot. This episode is truly about managing the squad (khm…). ME3: We also cannot go on murder sprees here like in ME1. But we can go genocidal instead. That’s an improvement. We can kill of 3 entire species here. Plus almost the whole galaxy in the end. Dan: if you read this, this would be a good idea for you for a whole video series.
I didn't know, rewriting the Geth heretics made it harder for achieving peace between the Quarians and the Geth in ME3. I have been choosing the option for years and never had a problem. lol
The obscure way to keep Wrex alive requires you to not have Garrus OR Liara. That's because it's a softlock prevention measure: Because Kaidan and Ashley are removed from the party in the next sequence, killing Wrex would leave you with only Tali to back you up, and since late-game combat especially is balanced around a full team of three, being shorthanded can make the game unwinnable.
I didn’t understand the options my first play through (which was supposed to be paragon) and I accidentally left him with Cerberus. Hearing that he died anyway in ME3 almost broke me
I leave him to Cerberus pretty much 90% of my playthroughs. I actually only remember seeing him at Grissom Academy once and I've been playing the trilogy since the original launch.
I realise that my first playthrough of the trilogy was extremely lucky, i managed to save Wrex on Virmire, saved everyone on the suicide mission (apart from half of the normandy crew) and only got Mordin and STEEEVE Cortez killed on earth cause i didn't talk to him enough. Even got perfect destroy too
@@lambosnicko The part I find so annoying about it, is I literally completed every single quest I had available up until that point, except Ish’s courier quest. So it wasn’t even a loyalty mission I had to do, but just some random side quest and that really annoyed me when I looked it up afterwards

@@aidenalexis05 I can’t remember why I didn’t do the IFF quest as it was over a year ago when I first played the game. But I do typically do side content first so that is probably a reason. I do find it irritating though as timing is never a mechanic before that mission and then wham! Your entire crew is dead. Feels a bit cheap.
Actually you can save Conrad if Kasumi is still alive after her side quest in ME3. She will stop the gun aimed at shepherd/Conrad before it fires and you instead get a really funny scene where Conrad thinks he’s been shot, but hasn’t.
There is (kind of) one part at the end of ME3 you missed. During the final confrontation between Shepard, Anderson and the Illusive Man, it is possible to for Illusive Man to kill Anderson if you don't talk him out of it. To do this, you have to make sure that you fully explore all the left-side conversation options in all of your previous interactions with the Illusive Man in ME3, and make sure to trigger all the Paragon/Renegade speech option with him. This tripped me up a few times in my repeat playthroughs of ME3. The first time through, of course you're going to select everything, but the next time through it's like "blah, blah, blah, heard all this already," and you then get to the end, and the final Paragon/Renegade speech option to convince the Illusive man is locked off no matter how much Reputation you have. I had to look this one up to figure it out. (You can still stop the Illusive Man from killing Anderson with a Renegade interrupt, but as a only-ever-done-one-Renegade-play-through-and-it-left-me-so-traumatised-I-swore-to-never-do-one-again player, this is more satisfying.) (Technically, this doesn't count, as Anderson dies shortly afterwards anyway, but at least this way you don't miss out on his final "I'm proud of you Shepard" speech.)
I always see it as that since Shepard survives, so will EDI and the Geth, since the reason given for Shepard’s death is that they’re part synthetic due to project Lazarus so in my head canon EDI and the Geth survives if Shep does
In Zaeed mission you can talk him down with a renegade speech check as well as paragon. In Samara mission look through the victims room and use the clues you find there in your conversation with Morinth, no need for trial & error. Edit: I managed to get Shepard to live with about 7900 asset points. Even though I was Renegade I saved the Rachni Queen but betrayed her later, I got peace with the Quarians & Geth while destroying the heretics. I sabotaged the genophage to keep Mordin alive and then did all other side missions that rounded up my points. Everyone alive except Wrex and the Virmire victim.
Oh and for anyone wondering about how high assets should be to keep Shepard alive in the destroy ending I was able to get it with 7850 points but please save before you start the last mission so you can backtrack if needed to
It’s 7400 in LE version. I know this because I was freaking out that I didn’t have enough for 7800 (I legit had 7756) and posted it on Reddit. Played it through and everyone said it would be okay, and it was.

I rationalize the destroy ending by telling myself "they can just fix edi and the geth" because the star child outright told you it was a possible and inevitable outcome. Then i just pretend the citadel DLC is an epilogue where everything is fine. I also suspect the destroy ending will become the canon ending in Mass Effect 4, as it's the only ending possible where shep survives.
I think of it as destroying the physical edi and geth(their bodies) but the ai is intact, edi would get a new body eventually and if geth and quarion(I forget how to spell it) peace is achieved the geth will also get their bodies rebuilt
@@jenjoe4359 well the problem with that is that even though edi and the geth are not bound to their bodies, they still need hardware to run on. If everything is destroyed then they will also vanish
I'd also recommend bringing EDI to the DLC mission in ME3 where you're fighting Shepherd's evil clone, there will be unique dialog between them where the clone will say EDI is just artificial software pretending to be alive and EDI will respond to the clone by calling it a cheap imitation
I’m still pissed that Legion dies. And that you don’t get him sooner in ME2. Your vids on the extra dialogue you get with him through “hacking” the game are awesome.
I recently had the opportunity to play the trilogy for the first time, and I have a little pride in the fact I was able to keep most folk alive throughout the game. Mordin died cause of that weird numbers rule thing in the games code for ME:2 And if my research is correct and you have to get 7500 war assets to get the ending where Shepard lives I was only like 1000 assets off from saving him. (If I went with the destroy option. Tali’s dialog and ending slides still breaks my heart if you romanced tali in ME:3 and don’t live
So basically, in a galactic alien nutshell, do the main story missions as slowly and late as possible prioritizing all the side missions and loyalty quests first and for most, got it. I honestly always go out of my way to be nice and a paragon to the crew mates anyways, being a total renegade to mostly everyone else not of the Normandy or at all affiliated with her crew. I’d die before I let anyone on my ship get hurt or killed. 😋
Dan. I just recently played Samara's Loyalty Mission and here is a funny thing. As I was at the travel option, I told Morinth that I like exploring and I received a Paragon Speech Check for it. Same with the Power is Strength dialogue option. I got to pass a Paragon Speech Check and passed it, since at this point, my Shepard's had MAXIMUM bar of Paragon points. 😂
@@spikey288 So how was I at full Paragon Bar? Well, I was maxing out my Passive Skill. I saved it for a while after I maxed out Adrenaline Rush and then I choosen the other Passive Skill bonus, that granted me 100% Paragon Points Bonus. Plus, I commited many Paragon actions as possible, that this is how I was at maxed Paragon Points pretty earlier than before.
I actually like the control ending. It’s somewhat poetic that you end up going with the Illusive Man’s plan. Especially if you’ve fought him every step of the way.
It’s the only ending I find palatable. Each ending (except Refuse) requires you to commit some sort of atrocity, but Control is the only one where the victims deserve it: - Destroy requires you to wipe out the Geth after they fought for you because you convinced them that they could coexist with organics. - Synthesis forces major changes on everyone in the galaxy without their consent. Worse, the fact that everyone’s getting along implies that there’s some sort of major psychological changes (a hive mind?) as well-not that the Catalyst would mention that given how the Reapers seem to view mind control so casually. - Control requires you to mind control the Reapers, but given how extensively they use mind control themselves, it’s hard to feel too bad about doing it to them. Not to mention that you could presumably order them to repair the damage and then return to intergalactic space and be free there as long as they don’t come back.

You have been fighting for 3 Games to bring all these races together despite their differences. Hell, you ended a 300 year long war between the Geth and the Quarians, if you achieve piece, and prove the Reapers wrong right there. Suddenly you homogenize everyone in the Galaxy and that is supposed to be the "good" ending. Destroy would be good, if it only killed the Reapers. And the hidden 4th ending should be where the war assets shine. If you have like more than 10k, you should be able to fight the Reapers imo. But alass this is what we got. Lets see what ME4 will be about.

I remember the moment my very first playthrough as i talked down both sides of the Geth/Quarian war. I almost cried... Later i learned that Tali can die. That's where I just sad back and thought... "Fork it..." I guess watching Star Trek The Next Generation as a child paid of somehow.😅 But i have to admit... I love scanning as much as i loved the Mako.
Wow, watching all of this, I am honestly surprised I made all the right calls throughout the series without doing any retries! The only mistakes I made and kept were getting Grunt killed and not going out to dinner with Kelly (because Tali lol). But either way I must say I'm so impressed at how well woven these choices are made into the game, it felt like my choices just led to the standard story, not realizing how many bullets I dodged and how important the small choices were like killing the heretic geth.
Kasumi is NOT guaranteed to survive ME3 even if she is loyal in ME2. You HAVE to complete the Spectre quest where she "tags along" to help and convince her to work on the Crucible. Otherwise, she dies on the Citadel. Her name will appear on the wall in the final scene of the game. That was how I found out. I failed to complete the mission as I got bored with the Citadel missions and left before that one mission was finished to work on other things. When I came back, there was a bug preventing me from completing the mission.
3:00 I did all 3 of the lead up ones and sent all the guards to the far side of the base and Kirrahe survived. I didn’t know that was possible and was very surprised to find him on the Normandy after.
The Audemus Happy Ending Mod is now canon in my mind. Best possible ending available. The previously cut dialogue with Shepard and Anderson is honestly perfect and it's sinful that it was cut.
You forgot to mention that you can lose loyalty of few squad-mates if you fail in speak check after their loyalty missions. I'm talking about Miranda vs Jack and Tali vs Legion in ME2. Until today I remember that I did Miranda and Jack missions to soon and I never in this playtrough regain loyalty of Miranda and she always dies in last mission.
@@sr2971 spoilers..... She dies. Only exception is that she will not die as squad leader after first sequence with went. She will get shot and stand up like loyal team mate but later on last stand or after fight with final boss she will be dead.

They go out of their way yo say Shepard is part synthetic and he/she survives. It'd make sense for the majority of the geth and edi to survive as well as they're mostly data and could easily transfer themselves somewhere safe (the geth to their mega structure or maybe quarian suits would allow them survive, edi to a cerberus data center or something)

First play-through should like that. Lot of mistakes:) Your second one can be the perfect one. Remember, you can have as many perfect plays as you want. But you have only one chance to make your own choices, without knowing the consequences.
@@juzoli I very recently finished the trilogy back to back with two playthrough of 1 and 1/5 for ME 2 so I could get the last achievements and then I have a second playthrough for game 3 which I just do not have the emotional energy as that was a lot of time and emotion invested in my character and the characters i played with so im a tad burned out for now and will try and get the last achievements in a week maybe or so and get the best ending as i was an idiot and shot the AI at the end as i didnt think that was a thing.
From romancing Liara through all three and keeping everyone alive, all to sacrifice my damn self in the end, get the girl, save your bros, all to die x.x
I always felt like there was a missed ending with refusal and war assets. For the first time ever in the cycle organically force the Reapers into a proper pitched space battle, and I feel like all 3 of the ending aren’t the best they all require a bit of mental gymnastics to justify any of the 3 real endings. But what if the refusal ending could have been either the “worst” with liaras tape playing underground. Or the best depending on war assets. Could’ve even gone halo reach style and given us a final mission to fight the reapers and depending on score you could actually just beat them. And that would be the best ending I reckon.
If defeating the Reapers in a pitched battle were possible, the entire Crucible storyline would ultimately be pointless (though the crew might not know that) Also, even with maxed-out Assets, the Reapers are gaining the upper hand by the time Shepard reaches the Crucible. So there's really only one way Refusal can end.
@@jordanthejq12 My point was that the Crucible story line was pretty poo in general. Surely the "Choice" area could have been included without the crucible to make my idea feasible? And i'm not sure I agree with you either, the whole point of war assets and the little extra cut-scenes you get were to show the impact of Shepard's choices on the final battle. If I'm not mistaken the Reapers had never gathered together like they did above Earth before as no other cycle had come this close to breaking it. Neither had any one person stood out as Shepard did. I just think the better ending, and the ending we deserved, would be for Shepard and all his choices culminating in allying an entire galaxy together and deciding to fight on sits better, than picking a coloured choice given by his arch nemesis and Antagonist of 3 games.
Make sure you do all the loyalty missions for all companions and nobody will die. Unless of course Shepard does it him/her self. Also i always let the sausage die in ME 1.

With "Virmire Savior Mod" you can save both Kaiden and Ashley, complete with new cutscenes and banter in later Games. With "Thane can live Mod" Thane will undergo an experimental cure for his disease and will fully recover. It will only be revealed via Mail. The only ones you can't save (not even with mods), are Mordin (Paragon), Legion (Paragon / peace between Geth and Quarians) and Anderson.
For captain Kerrame (sorry I misspelled that) you must go and assist his team at the end of vermire for him to survive. So whichever squad mate you want to live send them with his squad
@@amouramarie I've played the full ME series well over 15 times. Yes that's how it works. If you choose to not go and help his squad on Vermire then him and his team don't live.
Well, if we exonerate tali with evidence of her father's crimes, we do get 1 point instead of two in peace scoreboard. However, I came to know this when I progressed too far in mass Effect 3. Actually, I exonerated tali but with her father's incriminating evidence. Still I was able to achieve peace.
Side note you can actually skip all the dialogue with Wrex and just head to where his family armor is and make sure to have him as a companion when on that planet, it'll complete it, so if you dont want to talk to wrex but dont want to kill him and not have enough for his speech checks, now ya know, im pretty sure the dialogue is unique ish too
A few days ago I sent the recommended people for the tasks in the Collector base mission, and Mordin got killed so unceremoniously that I didn't even realise he was dead until I saw his name on the ME3 memorial. I don't understand it. I've done that mission a million times with no deaths and I know who to send. I didnt choose him for anything and the whole team, including him, were loyal. The only thing I did differently was consistently disagree with him about the genophage.
Something I'm interested in after my last playthrough , I kinda wanna know what the absolute max readiness score you can get in the game is (and what that playthrough looks like) Like obviously that means doing all the side content but besides that what choices do you have to make throughout the series to maximize the score in ME3?
1.) Sad thing is in mass effect 1 their was cut content where you could save both Ashley and kaiden on virmire their was even dialog if you managed to save them both. 2.) In mass effect 3 on the rannok mission legions death was pointless since legion himself said that geth are software not hardware which means he could have easily made a copy of himself before the mission even started.
@@_MaZTeR_ but he wasnt also Legion. Legion let shepard decide the fate of the heretics by only knowing him a little time. His copy instead would never let shepard decide this. It actualy says that.
@@juzoli How is it not a true copy if it has no memories from ME2? Legion explains that they must go back to their data centers to upload their experiences to others in ME2, so obviously it can't be "the exact same copy" if you're thinking that route. Either way, it's the same Legion, just without the memories because it never got to experience ME2 because you sold it to Cerberus or he died in the Suicide Mission before it could upload the memories. If I die tomorrow but make an exact copy of myself with the same experiences up until now and remotely make it activate upon my death and never upload my memories from the time since now to tomorrow, is it not a duplicate or is it just a dumb animal?
When you're getting Shepard Survives Ending for either gender you need a total exact amount of Effective Military Strength E.M.S. for short as they like to call it, along with need total exact amount Tactive Military Strength T.M.S to aquire it, but in the Remastered Legendary Edition they lower the amount. So far I don't want to play the Remastered version Mass Effect Legendary Edition, just want to play the Original Trilogy, first time I ever played Mass Effect 2006 PS3 was September 17 2021, finished it on October 6 2021. Even before I ever seen this video I know I definitely wanted the Original Trilogy since they're much better software with their own D.L.C.s, also M.E.2 also M.E.3 Legendary Edition graphics do not look much from the Original, they look mostly the same, but then I first saw this Video I'm like In order to get Shepard Survives Ending, need to make sure to spare the Rachni Queen, save the Council make sure everyone on the Suicide Mission Survives, but when I heard that each squadmates in M.E.2 must Survive, I'm like Heck No. There's Three Companions in M.E.2 I do not like they've done Many Dishonorable Things during their lifelong journey in this War, they're annoying, especially become liabilities in M.E.3 they're not much if any Help in M.E.3, the three Companions are Jack, Jacob, Miranda. For the perfect ending I saw many numbers in LE but most of them say you need 7400 Total military streangth, highest inform 7800. Although if someone makes all the best decisions you get 8550 which leaves quite a big room for failure in LE. (Its essentially one race getting entirely whiped out and you should still be good. So if you follow this guide, even if you do some suboptimal decisions, not blunders like siding with Geth or Quarians after weakening the leader. etc. - you should always get the ending.) I am getting usually 8300s or 8400s on my playthrough because some of the war asset decisions in ME3 are just impossible for me to make.
something of importance in ME2 is that after you complete the loyalty missions for both jack + miranda and Tali + Legion, you have a dialogue sequence afterwards where you need a certain renegade / paragon level, otherwise you have to side with one of each, losing the loyalty status of the other. I know this because i stuffed this up in my 1st ME2 playthrough and lost Miranda's loyalty
6:58 actually I managed to keep all alive despite not all being loyal, Jack still was a little irritated that I chose Miranda over her. but she still survived the final mission and was in ME3 up to the end
in the futur ei would love an entire remake of this trilogy with a few changes, like having a few of the characters acually join u in the last game and adding some of the powers from thwe villians to squade mated a musch better ending , yes what ever grapics and thigns for the time
i know that the ending isn't really satisfying or a "happy ending" but I still like it and I think it fits the theme of mass effect. There is no perfect "win button", it's kind of really cool to find out that it's obviously just a desperate fantasy of shepard and the dying galaxy that there would be a machine that would kill all the reapers without harming anything else. I like endings that go a bit deeper or darker at the cost of the generic feelgood hollywood ending
'Destroy' was never intended to be seen as the 'best' ending, certainly not by BioWare. The 'breath' clip was just intended as an easter egg that gained greater importance than it was intended to. (straight from a ME3 dev source)
BioWare fucked up ME3 so much that I'm not surprised a dev could say something that stupid. Like seriously? They didn't think that showing Sheppard breath at the end of destroy was going to be a *big* fucking deal?

Also, Anderson is black and has way more emotional impact on the games, more interaction with Shepard, and more to do than Jacob, and everybody likes Anderson. Jacob is just a bad character with a shitty personality, and the _best_ anyone ever has to say about him is that he's boring. Blame BioWare. /shrug

You forgot to mention Jack in ME 3. If you don't complete the Grissom Academy mission in time, Jack will become a Phantom and you will be forced to kill her.
I think it is assumed you complete all side quests.
Jack becomes a generic Phantom with a unique name tag and her "I will destroy you" lines from ME2 with some other unique dialogue happening couple of times in the mission.
He’ll make a 4.0 of this video next year when the channel starts declining again and he’ll mention that in it.

I saved everyone in ME2. Jack was my favorite character. I didn’t know Grissom Academy was on a timer. After you complete the Krogan mission, you just get told Grissom Academy was destroyed and you fight a weak ass Jack near the end. I was too many hours into ME3 to go back and save her. I ended up going to an early save to do Grissom Academy but was bummed to realize I wouldn’t have Jack in the Citadel at the end.
if you're going for the trophies/achievements on the Legendary Edition. You'll pretty much automatically get the best endings on both ME2 and ME3
@@BaranZenon not trying to start an argumebt here, but do you know about the hidden clues in skyrim that the thalmor actually support the stormcloaks and want to weaken humans to ensure victory in the next great war? Sure, the imperials tried to kill you, even though it was more an error than intentional as hadvar points out. They just want to get the execution done and dont bother to fact check you. Its nothing personal. By joining the stormcloaks you divide humanity and split the forces they'd have in another war, since skyrim wouldnt really help them anymore. Or the elves attack it first to cycle the imperials in. In that scenario, skyrim would fend for itself and since stormcloaks arent exactly an organized military, they'd lose for sure.
But its a game and your choice. Just wanted to point this out and if you dont care, then its fine. Thats the nice thing about skyrim. I believe there's even a video on this topic on this very channel

My legendary playthrough (2nd me1 playthrough) had me do that. I was focused om doing all side missions before mains tho repetitive it was cool when his dialogue was different when you already had it before he assigns it
Interestingly when it comes to Kirrahe, the only check you need to fulfil is destroying the Geth Flyers. If you ignore the rest of the side objectives he’ll still be just fine. That said, it’s worth doing the side objectives anyway because xp/credits.
not true, you also need to not trigger the alarms on their side of the base when you reach the base.
I destroyed the flyers, Kirrahe still died somehow. No idea what went wrong.

@@ADthehawk Maybe it is percentage based. If you destroy the flyers, there is a chance he will live. If you destroy the dish, the chance is larger. Shut down the alarms, even larger and finally complete all four and he is 100% guaranteed to survive. Just a thought.
How do you prevent yourself from triggering the alarms? Was it difficult completing all three of those tasks at the same time?
This is easy. Killing everyone is much more challenging, and requires some planning. Especially if we also want to kill as many side characters as possible.
By the way, playing it like that is not just much more challenging, but also teaches a lot about the differences between the 3 games.
ME1: We can go on real murder spree here. Save the biotics? Kill them all! Save the colonists? Kill them all! There are many side quests which can be done without casualties, or with many…
ME2: It is disappointing in this perspective. 1-1 side characters can be killed off here and there, but not a lot. This episode is truly about managing the squad (khm…).
ME3: We also cannot go on murder sprees here like in ME1. But we can go genocidal instead. That’s an improvement. We can kill of 3 entire species here. Plus almost the whole galaxy in the end.

I didn't know, rewriting the Geth heretics made it harder for achieving peace between the Quarians and the Geth in ME3. I have been choosing the option for years and never had a problem. lol

The obscure way to keep Wrex alive requires you to not have Garrus OR Liara. That's because it's a softlock prevention measure: Because Kaidan and Ashley are removed from the party in the next sequence, killing Wrex would leave you with only Tali to back you up, and since late-game combat especially is balanced around a full team of three, being shorthanded can make the game unwinnable.
I intentionally killed Jacob, but other than that I was very careful not to kill anyone, but apparently Wrex dying can save Mordin. Oh, the pain.
And nothing of value was lost.

I didn’t understand the options my first play through (which was supposed to be paragon) and I accidentally left him with Cerberus. Hearing that he died anyway in ME3 almost broke me
I never fully realized what the choices were there and thought I'd get something for letting him stay, guess not
I leave him to Cerberus pretty much 90% of my playthroughs. I actually only remember seeing him at Grissom Academy once and I've been playing the trilogy since the original launch.

I realise that my first playthrough of the trilogy was extremely lucky, i managed to save Wrex on Virmire, saved everyone on the suicide mission (apart from half of the normandy crew) and only got Mordin and STEEEVE Cortez killed on earth cause i didn't talk to him enough. Even got perfect destroy too

@@aidenalexis05 I can’t remember why I didn’t do the IFF quest as it was over a year ago when I first played the game. But I do typically do side content first so that is probably a reason. I do find it irritating though as timing is never a mechanic before that mission and then wham! Your entire crew is dead. Feels a bit cheap.

Actually you can save Conrad if Kasumi is still alive after her side quest in ME3. She will stop the gun aimed at shepherd/Conrad before it fires and you instead get a really funny scene where Conrad thinks he’s been shot, but hasn’t.
Nevermind, not kasumi, Jenna. She can be saved through a side quest in ME2 at Chora’s den.

There is (kind of) one part at the end of ME3 you missed. During the final confrontation between Shepard, Anderson and the Illusive Man, it is possible to for Illusive Man to kill Anderson if you don't talk him out of it.
To do this, you have to make sure that you fully explore all the left-side conversation options in all of your previous interactions with the Illusive Man in ME3, and make sure to trigger all the Paragon/Renegade speech option with him.
This tripped me up a few times in my repeat playthroughs of ME3. The first time through, of course you're going to select everything, but the next time through it's like "blah, blah, blah, heard all this already," and you then get to the end, and the final Paragon/Renegade speech option to convince the Illusive man is locked off no matter how much Reputation you have. I had to look this one up to figure it out. (You can still stop the Illusive Man from killing Anderson with a Renegade interrupt, but as a only-ever-done-one-Renegade-play-through-and-it-left-me-so-traumatised-I-swore-to-never-do-one-again player, this is more satisfying.)
(Technically, this doesn't count, as Anderson dies shortly afterwards anyway, but at least this way you don't miss out on his final "I'm proud of you Shepard" speech.)
I always see it as that since Shepard survives, so will EDI and the Geth, since the reason given for Shepard’s death is that they’re part synthetic due to project Lazarus so in my head canon EDI and the Geth survives if Shep does

In Zaeed mission you can talk him down with a renegade speech check as well as paragon. In Samara mission look through the victims room and use the clues you find there in your conversation with Morinth, no need for trial & error.
Edit: I managed to get Shepard to live with about 7900 asset points. Even though I was Renegade I saved the Rachni Queen but betrayed her later, I got peace with the Quarians & Geth while destroying the heretics. I sabotaged the genophage to keep Mordin alive and then did all other side missions that rounded up my points. Everyone alive except Wrex and the Virmire victim.
I skipped Geth fighter squadrons by accident bruv :(

Oh and for anyone wondering about how high assets should be to keep Shepard alive in the destroy ending I was able to get it with 7850 points but please save before you start the last mission so you can backtrack if needed to
It’s 7400 in LE version. I know this because I was freaking out that I didn’t have enough for 7800 (I legit had 7756) and posted it on Reddit. Played it through and everyone said it would be okay, and it was.

I rationalize the destroy ending by telling myself "they can just fix edi and the geth" because the star child outright told you it was a possible and inevitable outcome. Then i just pretend the citadel DLC is an epilogue where everything is fine. I also suspect the destroy ending will become the canon ending in Mass Effect 4, as it's the only ending possible where shep survives.
I think of it as destroying the physical edi and geth(their bodies) but the ai is intact, edi would get a new body eventually and if geth and quarion(I forget how to spell it) peace is achieved the geth will also get their bodies rebuilt

I'd also recommend bringing EDI to the DLC mission in ME3 where you're fighting Shepherd's evil clone, there will be unique dialog between them where the clone will say EDI is just artificial software pretending to be alive and EDI will respond to the clone by calling it a cheap imitation

I recently had the opportunity to play the trilogy for the first time, and I have a little pride in the fact I was able to keep most folk alive throughout the game.
Mordin died cause of that weird numbers rule thing in the games code for ME:2
And if my research is correct and you have to get 7500 war assets to get the ending where Shepard lives I was only like 1000 assets off from saving him. (If I went with the destroy option. Tali’s dialog and ending slides still breaks my heart if you romanced tali in ME:3 and don’t live
So many people pointing out what Dan forgot in ME3 there's a lot that is why he has all the videos going into detail this one is just a quick rundown
So basically, in a galactic alien nutshell, do the main story missions as slowly and late as possible prioritizing all the side missions and loyalty quests first and for most, got it. I honestly always go out of my way to be nice and a paragon to the crew mates anyways, being a total renegade to mostly everyone else not of the Normandy or at all affiliated with her crew. I’d die before I let anyone on my ship get hurt or killed. 😋
Dan. I just recently played Samara's Loyalty Mission and here is a funny thing. As I was at the travel option, I told Morinth that I like exploring and I received a Paragon Speech Check for it. Same with the Power is Strength dialogue option. I got to pass a Paragon Speech Check and passed it, since at this point, my Shepard's had MAXIMUM bar of Paragon points. 😂

So how was I at full Paragon Bar? Well, I was maxing out my Passive Skill. I saved it for a while after I maxed out Adrenaline Rush and then I choosen the other Passive Skill bonus, that granted me 100% Paragon Points Bonus. Plus, I commited many Paragon actions as possible, that this is how I was at maxed Paragon Points pretty earlier than before.

I actually like the control ending. It’s somewhat poetic that you end up going with the Illusive Man’s plan. Especially if you’ve fought him every step of the way.
It’s the only ending I find palatable. Each ending (except Refuse) requires you to commit some sort of atrocity, but Control is the only one where the victims deserve it:
- Destroy requires you to wipe out the Geth after they fought for you because you convinced them that they could coexist with organics.
- Synthesis forces major changes on everyone in the galaxy without their consent. Worse, the fact that everyone’s getting along implies that there’s some sort of major psychological changes (a hive mind?) as well-not that the Catalyst would mention that given how the Reapers seem to view mind control so casually.
- Control requires you to mind control the Reapers, but given how extensively they use mind control themselves, it’s hard to feel too bad about doing it to them. Not to mention that you could presumably order them to repair the damage and then return to intergalactic space and be free there as long as they don’t come back.

You have been fighting for 3 Games to bring all these races together despite their differences. Hell, you ended a 300 year long war between the Geth and the Quarians, if you achieve piece, and prove the Reapers wrong right there. Suddenly you homogenize everyone in the Galaxy and that is supposed to be the "good" ending. Destroy would be good, if it only killed the Reapers. And the hidden 4th ending should be where the war assets shine. If you have like more than 10k, you should be able to fight the Reapers imo. But alass this is what we got. Lets see what ME4 will be about.

I remember the moment my very first playthrough as i talked down both sides of the Geth/Quarian war. I almost cried... Later i learned that Tali can die. That's where I just sad back and thought... "Fork it..." I guess watching Star Trek The Next Generation as a child paid of somehow.😅

Wow, watching all of this, I am honestly surprised I made all the right calls throughout the series without doing any retries! The only mistakes I made and kept were getting Grunt killed and not going out to dinner with Kelly (because Tali lol). But either way I must say I'm so impressed at how well woven these choices are made into the game, it felt like my choices just led to the standard story, not realizing how many bullets I dodged and how important the small choices were like killing the heretic geth.
Roleplayed the trilogy as myself the first time i played, saved everyone like in this guide without knowing some of them could die this easily

Kasumi is NOT guaranteed to survive ME3 even if she is loyal in ME2. You HAVE to complete the Spectre quest where she "tags along" to help and convince her to work on the Crucible. Otherwise, she dies on the Citadel. Her name will appear on the wall in the final scene of the game. That was how I found out. I failed to complete the mission as I got bored with the Citadel missions and left before that one mission was finished to work on other things. When I came back, there was a bug preventing me from completing the mission.
3:00 I did all 3 of the lead up ones and sent all the guards to the far side of the base and Kirrahe survived. I didn’t know that was possible and was very surprised to find him on the Normandy after.

The Audemus Happy Ending Mod is now canon in my mind. Best possible ending available. The previously cut dialogue with Shepard and Anderson is honestly perfect and it's sinful that it was cut.
You forgot to mention that you can lose loyalty of few squad-mates if you fail in speak check after their loyalty missions. I'm talking about Miranda vs Jack and Tali vs Legion in ME2. Until today I remember that I did Miranda and Jack missions to soon and I never in this playtrough regain loyalty of Miranda and she always dies in last mission.

In ME5 I want a huge ass statue of Shepard on a green and vibrant Tuchanka with a plaque "Our Saviour, Urdnot Shepard."
They go out of their way yo say Shepard is part synthetic and he/she survives. It'd make sense for the majority of the geth and edi to survive as well as they're mostly data and could easily transfer themselves somewhere safe (the geth to their mega structure or maybe quarian suits would allow them survive, edi to a cerberus data center or something)

First play-through should like that. Lot of mistakes:) Your second one can be the perfect one.
Remember, you can have as many perfect plays as you want. But you have only one chance to make your own choices, without knowing the consequences.
@@juzoli I very recently finished the trilogy back to back with two playthrough of 1 and 1/5 for ME 2 so I could get the last achievements and then I have a second playthrough for game 3 which I just do not have the emotional energy as that was a lot of time and emotion invested in my character and the characters i played with so im a tad burned out for now and will try and get the last achievements in a week maybe or so and get the best ending as i was an idiot and shot the AI at the end as i didnt think that was a thing.
If you don't have high enough renegade or paragon, save Jack's loyalty till after Miranda's.

I always felt like there was a missed ending with refusal and war assets.
For the first time ever in the cycle organically force the Reapers into a proper pitched space battle, and I feel like all 3 of the ending aren’t the best they all require a bit of mental gymnastics to justify any of the 3 real endings.
But what if the refusal ending could have been either the “worst” with liaras tape playing underground. Or the best depending on war assets.
Could’ve even gone halo reach style and given us a final mission to fight the reapers and depending on score you could actually just beat them. And that would be the best ending I reckon.
If defeating the Reapers in a pitched battle were possible, the entire Crucible storyline would ultimately be pointless (though the crew might not know that) Also, even with maxed-out Assets, the Reapers are gaining the upper hand by the time Shepard reaches the Crucible. So there's really only one way Refusal can end.
@@jordanthejq12 My point was that the Crucible story line was pretty poo in general. Surely the "Choice" area could have been included without the crucible to make my idea feasible?
And i'm not sure I agree with you either, the whole point of war assets and the little extra cut-scenes you get were to show the impact of Shepard's choices on the final battle. If I'm not mistaken the Reapers had never gathered together like they did above Earth before as no other cycle had come this close to breaking it.
Neither had any one person stood out as Shepard did.
I just think the better ending, and the ending we deserved, would be for Shepard and all his choices culminating in allying an entire galaxy together and deciding to fight on sits better, than picking a coloured choice given by his arch nemesis and Antagonist of 3 games.

With "Virmire Savior Mod" you can save both Kaiden and Ashley, complete with new cutscenes and banter in later Games.
With "Thane can live Mod" Thane will undergo an experimental cure for his disease and will fully recover. It will only be revealed via Mail.
The only ones you can't save (not even with mods), are Mordin (Paragon), Legion (Paragon / peace between Geth and Quarians) and Anderson.
For captain Kerrame (sorry I misspelled that) you must go and assist his team at the end of vermire for him to survive. So whichever squad mate you want to live send them with his squad
I don't think that's true.... I'm pretty sure I sent Ashley with Kirrahe, and I know she died and he survived.
@@amouramarie I've played the full ME series well over 15 times. Yes that's how it works. If you choose to not go and help his squad on Vermire then him and his team don't live.
Well, if we exonerate tali with evidence of her father's crimes, we do get 1 point instead of two in peace scoreboard. However, I came to know this when I progressed too far in mass Effect 3. Actually, I exonerated tali but with her father's incriminating evidence. Still I was able to achieve peace.
Hmm, don't know if the ME Wiki has this, but I'll try to test this out just in case.
I am happy that I was able to save the heretics and bring peace to Quarians and Geth without even knowing it was a difficult achievement.

Side note you can actually skip all the dialogue with Wrex and just head to where his family armor is and make sure to have him as a companion when on that planet, it'll complete it, so if you dont want to talk to wrex but dont want to kill him and not have enough for his speech checks, now ya know, im pretty sure the dialogue is unique ish too

A few days ago I sent the recommended people for the tasks in the Collector base mission, and Mordin got killed so unceremoniously that I didn't even realise he was dead until I saw his name on the ME3 memorial. I don't understand it. I've done that mission a million times with no deaths and I know who to send. I didnt choose him for anything and the whole team, including him, were loyal. The only thing I did differently was consistently disagree with him about the genophage.
Something I'm interested in after my last playthrough , I kinda wanna know what the absolute max readiness score you can get in the game is (and what that playthrough looks like) Like obviously that means doing all the side content but besides that what choices do you have to make throughout the series to maximize the score in ME3?
1.) Sad thing is in mass effect 1 their was cut content where you could save both Ashley and kaiden on virmire their was even dialog if you managed to save them both.
2.) In mass effect 3 on the rannok mission legions death was pointless since legion himself said that geth are software not hardware which means he could have easily made a copy of himself before the mission even started.
True AI cannot be perfectly copied, because it involves quantum physics too. And quantum states cannot be duplicated.
@@juzoli But Legion DOES get copied if you don't save Legion in ME2. It's just that he has no memories from ME2.

@@_MaZTeR_ but he wasnt also Legion. Legion let shepard decide the fate of the heretics by only knowing him a little time. His copy instead would never let shepard decide this. It actualy says that.
@@juzoli How is it not a true copy if it has no memories from ME2? Legion explains that they must go back to their data centers to upload their experiences to others in ME2, so obviously it can't be "the exact same copy" if you're thinking that route.
Either way, it's the same Legion, just without the memories because it never got to experience ME2 because you sold it to Cerberus or he died in the Suicide Mission before it could upload the memories.
If I die tomorrow but make an exact copy of myself with the same experiences up until now and remotely make it activate upon my death and never upload my memories from the time since now to tomorrow, is it not a duplicate or is it just a dumb animal?
When you're getting Shepard Survives Ending for either gender you need a total exact amount of Effective Military Strength E.M.S. for short as they like to call it, along with need total exact amount Tactive Military Strength T.M.S to aquire it, but in the Remastered Legendary Edition they lower the amount. So far I don't want to play the Remastered version Mass Effect Legendary Edition, just want to play the Original Trilogy, first time I ever played Mass Effect 2006 PS3 was September 17 2021, finished it on October 6 2021.
Even before I ever seen this video I know I definitely wanted the Original Trilogy since they're much better software with their own D.L.C.s, also M.E.2 also M.E.3 Legendary Edition graphics do not look much from the Original, they look mostly the same, but then I first saw this Video I'm like In order to get Shepard Survives Ending, need to make sure to spare the Rachni Queen, save the Council make sure everyone on the Suicide Mission Survives, but when I heard that each squadmates in M.E.2 must Survive, I'm like Heck No. There's Three Companions in M.E.2 I do not like they've done Many Dishonorable Things during their lifelong journey in this War, they're annoying, especially become liabilities in M.E.3 they're not much if any Help in M.E.3, the three Companions are Jack, Jacob, Miranda. In M.E.2 I want them dead💀. I'm never getting the Legendary Edition Remastered version.

What do we need to do exactly in order to get Shepard Survives Ending on Original M.E.3?

Correction. You only need 7,500 military strength for Shepard to survive. Total assets acquired by scanning is 1,500
For the perfect ending I saw many numbers in LE but most of them say you need 7400 Total military streangth, highest inform 7800. Although if someone makes all the best decisions you get 8550 which leaves quite a big room for failure in LE. (Its essentially one race getting entirely whiped out and you should still be good. So if you follow this guide, even if you do some suboptimal decisions, not blunders like siding with Geth or Quarians after weakening the leader. etc. - you should always get the ending.)
I am getting usually 8300s or 8400s on my playthrough because some of the war asset decisions in ME3 are just impossible for me to make.
The best I've had is 8100
something of importance in ME2 is that after you complete the loyalty missions for both jack + miranda and Tali + Legion, you have a dialogue sequence afterwards where you need a certain renegade / paragon level, otherwise you have to side with one of each, losing the loyalty status of the other.
I know this because i stuffed this up in my 1st ME2 playthrough and lost Miranda's loyalty
Is it renegade or paragon. Or does it have to be a specific one
@Jason Andrews miranda can be done with paragon, but follow her advice for not rushing into the ending of me2 if you're not ready

6:58 actually I managed to keep all alive despite not all being loyal, Jack still was a little irritated that I chose Miranda over her. but she still survived the final mission and was in ME3 up to the end

in the futur ei would love an entire remake of this trilogy with a few changes, like having a few of the characters acually join u in the last game and adding some of the powers from thwe villians to squade mated a musch better ending , yes what ever grapics and thigns for the time
i know that the ending isn't really satisfying or a "happy ending" but I still like it and I think it fits the theme of mass effect. There is no perfect "win button", it's kind of really cool to find out that it's obviously just a desperate fantasy of shepard and the dying galaxy that there would be a machine that would kill all the reapers without harming anything else. I like endings that go a bit deeper or darker at the cost of the generic feelgood hollywood ending
'Destroy' was never intended to be seen as the 'best' ending, certainly not by BioWare. The 'breath' clip was just intended as an easter egg that gained greater importance than it was intended to. (straight from a ME3 dev source)
BioWare fucked up ME3 so much that I'm not surprised a dev could say something that stupid. Like seriously? They didn't think that showing Sheppard breath at the end of destroy was going to be a *big* fucking deal?

Basically balance Paragon and Renegade usage and listen to the obvious best parts for clues.
One point to note for me2: if you choose miranda as the second fireteam leader, she'll survive regardless of loyalty.

I prefer to save the citadel dlc party for before you go to take on the illusive man as Shepard knows this is a mission he/she isn't coming back.

Also, Anderson is black and has way more emotional impact on the games, more interaction with Shepard, and more to do than Jacob, and everybody likes Anderson. Jacob is just a bad character with a shitty personality, and the _best_ anyone ever has to say about him is that he's boring. Blame BioWare. /shrug
@@amouramarie yeah, none of that excuses Bioware for either intentionally making the only black character you bring along with the absolute worst and the fact Bioware has never even addressed the situation shows their level of understanding or rather lack there of. Just because Anderson is a good character also doesn't excuse the again either intentional or ridiculously incompetent attempt at creating Jacob. Thank you for your opinion though.

There is a very simple solution to this problem, it’s called play the game all the way out rather than trying to only do the bare minimum to progress
