    Cr3 is tough but a fun section of trail.

      Yeah, I'll need to get an aftermarket pretty soon.

    Thanks for sharing your NEBDR adventure. You mention using the downloaded gpx BDR route on your iPhone and the Gaia app...I was planning to use the same setup...any comments - good or bad - using that for a BDR ride?

      I've had great luck with the Gaia GPS app on my iPhone. It was very easy to upload the BDR route...and once you have it uploaded, you can view it on your laptop and the app. I had a Garmin and ended up selling it because I always seemed to have issues with it. For me, using my phone is the easiest. I just purchased the new wireless Quadlock wireless charging so that will greatly help with keeping my battery fresh.

    Yeah that first technical Trail you were on is cr3, I've done it twice.. taking a break halfway down the other side is not a bad idea as I got a lot of leg pump doing that trail. Don't have to worry about grizzly bears around here.. but you do have to be on the lookout for bigfoot LOL

      haha - yeah it's a beast of a decent. It never seems to end, and you only realize how steep it is until you go to stop...(or try to)

    Awesome video. I plan to do 1 & 2 in september. I was worried about doing it solo on an Aprilia T660. I'm also from NYC.

      Thanks. Always better to have someone with you but I managed fine solo. The hill climb and descent were the only technical parts....and even those weren't too bad if you take it easy.
      Tuareg 660 -nice...I haven't seen any of those in the city.

    Is the first section Rt. 3 (Elevator Shaft)?

    • @TommyT888
      @TommyT888  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Joe - indeed it is. As most people say, the camera really doesn't do it justice in terms of how steep it is. A really great section though.

    I feel your pain bro! I rode section 2 last Sunday on my almost stock 2023 KLR650s and Vly Mountain (route 3) was definitely challenging. The camera absolutely does not do this trail justice. Steep, rocky uphill was tricky with the stock suspension, rear wheel hopping side to side due to lack of rebound. Glad when I hit the peak with no issues but then...that long ass loose decent that goes on forever! I attempted neutral at one point but decided I better stay in gear in case I needed to involve some engine braking. I stopped twice on the way down to catch my breath and fortunately made it up and over without dumping my machine. Steep, rocky, and rutted. I did section 1 a couple weeks ago and section 2 this Sunday. That was definitely the most challenging thing I have ridden on my KLR up to this point. On a dirt bike yeah, piece of cake. On an adventure bike, get ready to elevate your heart rate.

      thanks - seems we had a similar experience. I took plenty of breathers on the way down and went into neutral a couple times before I decided it wasn't in my best interest! The speed builds up pretty damn quick without you even realizing it.

    Was that rocky climb and descent starting at 6 minutes the infamous Rt3?

    • @TommyT888
      @TommyT888  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep - that's it. Country Road 3. A lot of fun. And that decent is like a time warp...it doesn't want to end!

      @@TommyT888 Cool thanks, I'll be there next week. I know the GoPro flattens everything but that didn't look as bad as people make out other than it being somewhat unrelenting.

    Why is your bike saying Neutral going uphill

    • @TommyT888
      @TommyT888  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're referring to the 15:00 mark...that's actually a steep downhill section

      Thank you - those shocks are something else...they've gotten me out of a few rocky situations!
