I am deaf. I have been deaf since the age 5 and am now 67. there are things I noticed and want to bring up. Emily was wearing earphones pretending to be hearing listening to a radio in the beginning. This bring up a broad spectrum of the diversity of deafness from those who want to blend in the hearing community to those who isolate themselves from the hearing community (example in your video of the 2 male students criticizing and putting down Emily's hearing aids). Emily just had a ear operation and tried out her aids. Depending on the quality of her aid and fit to her particular deafness (range of hearing sounds high pitch medium and low pitch often vary) It is very understandable that she gets headaches from hearing undesireable unfiltered noise constantly pounding on her eardrums. And needed to remove it during those times. Aids are best when listening to music (not too loud though) like Emily's dad's piano playing. Some aids can be programed to tune out noise. Just like hearing people program themselves to not listen or tune out nagging, background noises, and focus on one sound. Example cat running when he hears the noise of a can opener thinking he is going to be fed, no matter how noisy it is....
This film has a time limited since it was for CSUN film production class. But that'll be great if we have enough time to include what could happen to the guys that teased Emily
Hey Emily! This was a very nice film. Well laid out, good acting, but (I think) the ending was not strong enough. I realize that you are limited in what you can do in a short film presentation! I think you are ready for a feature screenplay...maybe? DON'T TELL VERA is a romantic drama, based on 2 high school students, *Vera Jones* & *Chad Perkins*. They are both hearing people, but the first time he speaks to her, she does not respond. The next time he sees her, she is using Sign Language with her 14 yr old sister, *Evelyn*, (our main character) who is deaf. He assumes that Vera is Deaf and that is where the story takes off.We need to raise our Page "Likes" to attract serious investors for this movie project. We want to show them how large the Deaf community is so they see how important it will be to partner with us and support projects like this. 😉Let's show the whole world the Beauty, the Power and the Magic of the Deaf community! Will you partner with us to make this film?
