Well, I must say the vice has made its way home to Minnesota and has been serving me very nicely. It's simple to use and seems very well built. I too use a dremmel and couldn't be more pleased with the combo. I still carry hand files in my bag and can definitely sharpen a chain, but the dremmel is just so much quicker.
@InTheWoodyard That would be teaching him your bad habits!🤣 I have always said a guy will never learn good cutting habits if someone else is sharpening his chains! It was a nice gesture but wait till you can help him do it himself next time!🤠
@bertbrei2950 You don't think he needs to learn how to hand file first? At least with a round file, he has options in the woods to touch up as needed. With square ground, he would need to swap chains in the woods. It takes too much chain material when switching back n forth between square and round. IMO. I do feel he is old enough to start learning if old enough to operate.👍

Saw you had yellow jacket problems. I used to also, but I solved my problem. Get WHY yellow jacket traps and catch the queens in early spring. They work.
Nice saw clamp and I agree with you putting the 2 cross pieces to provide more stability when sharpening. I’ve tried to sharpen 2 different electric chainsaws and found I couldn’t advance the chain like I would on my gas powered saws. I assume they don’t have a centrifugal clutch like the gas powered models. Short of removing the chain do you have any suggestions?
Good Morning. I like it. I like it alot. A little carpet tape attached to the non skid kitchen drawers liner or tool box drawer loner attached he'd to the legs will help with the sliding on the tailgate. Nice Carpentry work. Norm would be proud. The vise squad did an awesome fabrication

I like my vise!! Usually use the battery operated dremel, may have to try my corded dremel!! I'd like to get a medallion In the Woodyard like you used to have!!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
If you take them all down from the same side the file will bounce and chatter. I have used the dremel before but found is was to hard to get them all the same height.
Nice looking voice I was thinking an additional addition to it would be a removable lag bolt coming out of the bottom so you can screw it into a stump or a tree
There is a video on my channel of the machining of the vise if anyone wanted to see that as well. They work awesome. Just make sure to put some lube on the wing srew so it doesnt bind.
You have a Patent registered yet? China will steal any good idea we have, then make it cheaper and crappier. This tool seems like a great idea for anyone that needs to sharpen more than 1 saw.
I used a file for 40 years I know how, the Dremel is 10x faster, easier and just as good try it you will like it , progress and better tools exist now.

I buy mine a t a local mans mall called Fleet Farm but you can buy them online too....Oregon 7/32 stone bits 3 pack for $6-7
I am a bit confused..what am I missing? I can get a vice from Harbor Frieght for $29.99. Seems it would serve the same purpose.
Not everyone wants or can afford quality tools.
Put a 30 degree angle mark on the top of your clamp. So you know what angle to hold your dremel
You could. I dont sharpen mine at 30 i do 25 instead get more life out of chain. I also use 2 grinders to do mine and also do a square grind.

Couple questions about the rakes. Why can't you hit them all from same position and why can't you hit them a lick with the drimal tool??
