Classic story. Have a great brand making great products, start making a lot of money, get the interest of massive groups, get bought, destroy your existing products and release mediocre new products for insane prices, slowly disapear.
Now it all makes sense. Discontinue (creative and unique) fragrances that don't sell, replace them with new, more mainstream and designer-like perfumes that sell much better... to increase the value of the company... before you sell shares in the company. Just like Creed is not a family business anymore, Tom Ford is not owned nor inspired by Tom Ford anymore, Amouage may soon not have any real links to Oman anymore... Away with tradition, only dollars count going forward.
What a horrible news! L’Oréal ruins everything they touch perfume wise. They’ve destroyed my beloved Angel and released a total different fragrance as Angel elixir ( just horrible) if this goes through let us know. I love amouage, guidance, blossom Love, epic woman, dia woman, jubilation 25. But my favorite is Guidance. I’ll buy a backup bottle. My heart is sunk. 😥
The fragrance game seems to be coming to an end. I'm glad i have my collection to last me till I die and won't be needing any of this watered down crap that will be the new norm.
It's already hands off amouage. Ever since Christopher Chong left and new CEO+creative director appointed. Brand is just going for sales now and not putting anything of worth out anymore since 2019.
As a middle eastern man (Egypt), our approach to perfume is different from the western approach especially the French one. Brands here are expected to deliver descent longevity and sillage for both winter and summer fragrances, whether it is a middle or high end brand. I tried the blue beast interlude and it was amazing especially the dry down of it and I received tons of compliments. I got intrigued by the brand and I was actually going to buy Beach hut man for this summer. I'm afraid if L'Oréal bought Amouage, the quality of the fragrances would be impacted. That would be a disappointment.
Now that these corporations are buying niche houses, we're truly screwed. You won't be able to get world-class perfumery anymore. Having said that, a minority stake is not a full sale, and it is important to understand how much they would own - this would determine their amount of influence.
Lilac Love is a big love thanks to you Sebastian from your initial review from many years ago. I hope the formula is still the same and I won't notice any differences.
"Love Delight" is tricky. If you spray it on skin, you'll feel how it develops into a rich gourmand fragrance, as the skin warms up the perfume. Gradually, the cocoa will manifest itself. It's as if you are swimming in a milk shake with chocolate. I like "Love Blossom" too. I have a full bottle and hair mist. Stunning. And the biggest compliment getter for me thus far.
Sad News indeed, they just care about profit all of the talk about the heritage and the brand when these things happen, you can see clearly that is just marketing, kudos to those brands that stay behind their principles and their original vision and not just to make money. Thanks for the video Sebastian!!!
Guess I won’t be buying Amouage again. Will hold on to my epic woman, Honor woman, and Material as souvenirs since the quality of this house will go downhill. The formulas aren’t going to be the same. Will be reformulated and made available in very store, including the corner shop.
L’Oréal is starting to be the EA of the fragrance industry, like what EA is to video game studios. They might as well start doing microtransactions and lootboxes on partial fragrances and sample kits based on the company. 😂😂😂😂😂
That is really sad news, unfortunately the westernization of Amouage started a couple of years ago with the change of the director and its downhill since then. It will be painful to watch another star falling 😔
I don’t believe anyone who loves Amouage fragrances will be happy about this news. Still don’t understand why L’Oréal haven’t brought back Pure Havane and Pure Malt…makes absolutely no sense.
When a huge corporation like L'Oreal takes a minority stake, eventually they buy the whole shebang if the fragrance line remains profitable. Amouage is owned by the Sabco Group. I can't find out what the total worth of the Sabco Group is but as of this writing L'Oreal is valued at close to $219 billion.
Lilac Love is also my favorite from the Secret Garden collection. I own and love them all except the newest one; Love Mimosa is really nice too, it's beachy! I don't want L'Oreal anywhere near Amouage :( I hate what they've done to Mugler!
This acquisition will be devastating if it happens. I'm going to hope that if they do sell the brand, they will go with another firm. I'd rather LVMH (or hell, even Estee Lauder) get them, rather than L'Oreal. I'm not going to jump the gun yet, but if they do end up selling even a minority stake, I'll definitely be buying backups of a few frags before they are destroyed.
If they just want shares, that's fine by me, the business part I understand. But everyone knows they'll start getting greedy hands into they artistic direction, releasing useless flankers of flankers and discontinuing Amouage's best fragrances.
I’ve deliberately been collecting the discontinued Woman’s fragrances and some of the Library collection …. It’s my favourite house. Furious at the thought of L’Oreal being anywhere near Amouage. I would be shocked at an outright sale as they would no longer be the Pride of Kings….lets see.
Not happy at all about the talks with L'oreal! I was only recently starting to explore this house in depth, and I guess I should accelerate the process. So far my favorite is Interlude woman!
If this will come to any fruition for L’Oréal, it will certainly put an end to something so special and unique, as Amouage is. I’ve been wearing many different scents from this amazing house for nearly a decade.
Hi Sebastian. I'm interested in getting an older bottle of Lilac Love. Do you think that the newer presentation/reformulated bottles are at the discounters yet?
😂😂 your look on the thumbnail says it all!! 😢😢 I HATE them literally hate them! Which is funny I love their nighttime moisturizers sure but when they touch a perfume? They ruin it and or discontinue it! I can’t afford Amouge but they took away my alien fusion and ruined other perfumes I loved…so they’ll ruin amouage and the prices will stay the same whilst being weaker?? Ehh
Oh no this is sad news if it happens. I have Portrayal Woman, Lilac Love and Guidance as well as multiple decants of others. Amouage has been my favorite niche house to date.
I think There’s only so many combos a company can make or hold out peoples expectations. Before they kill them off and rinse and repeat in some fashion. Hmmmmmmm that sucks my favorite house next to Xerjoff. Have to start entertaining these really small niche houses I suppose.
There goes Amouage! So that’s why they charged 2,000.00 each for the Gold re-releases. Placed themselves squarely in the luxury market banking on their history, to sell! 500.00 for Le Lion sounds like a steal! 🤣 They are all doing that. Tired of it
Hello, I am a new subscriber, I look forward to your videos. I love Bvgari's Mon Jasmine Noir perfume, it is no longer in production. Can you recommend a similar perfume. Thank you
Love delight drydown is better than the opening and the heart. It sits close on the skin. I like the Lilac better as well. Guidance has something off-putting, maybe it's a hint of leather that I cannot stand these days. Need to try blossom love. Tuberose can be a little too punchy but I am willing to give it a chance.
I adore blossom love by Amouage, it's my favourite from the ones I smelled but there is no trace of smoke like note/ sensation to be found, just sweet, boozy creaminess, I do hope they haven't reformulated this scent, I'd be gutted. As to Love Delight it was supposed to be inspired by middle eastern dessert and so funny you get hotel lobby from it😀. I'm yet to smell that one. As to Loreal rumours only time will tell but it's silly someone would want to sell a brand that tripled the profits within a year and with such heritage and traditions...
Yes we are in New Jersey! Amouage first US boutique in the American Dream Mall and the rumors not true sebastian. Just Speculations ! No one is buying Amouage !
Let's get 10 soon to be discontinued Amouage fragrances during this eclipse 😂 Or try to get some Thierry Mugler, Atelier Cologne, Armani Privé BEFORE L'OREAL 😢😢😢😢😢
If the deal sealed, then we are loosing another good niche house, so sad. Look at what happened to Frederic Malle for example. Any niche house bought be a conglomerate firm is no longer a niche house, period.
I used the word mouillette at Nordstroms as I was checking out Diptyqye and the sales person said, “huh?” So I said fragrance strip. lol. I try to be as eclectic as possible.
Where did you see Mugler Cologne in Europe, Sebastian? And did you see the green one, or do you mean Fly Away (yellow) and/or some of the other colors, but not the green? I am in Germany, and also check in Spain every few months. And I have not seen the green Mugler Cologne (aka. Come Together) anywhere online or at stores for about a year now.
That might be a good thing actually. Maybe they sack Renaud Salmon, since i can not count good releases since he arrived in 2020 on fingers on one hand. Everything L’Oréal touches goes downhill… Best example is Mugler 😣😭

L'Oreal. The Death Star of niche fragrances.

Tom Ford fragrances all over again lol.
L'Oréal collecting fragrance houses like Thanos to snap their fingers and destroy the perfume industry! 😣
Worse than Thanos. He only destroyed half. L'Oréal wants to destroy the whole perfume universe.
Ok but LITERALLY though
Estee Lauder and L'Oréal are great house destroyers.

Reformulation destruction already happened with several Amouage fragrances. Especially Epic and Jubilation XXV
A ha ha, that's what I thought when I heard the news.

I think it matches the color more for sure!!
The fragrance game seems to be coming to an end. I'm glad i have my collection to last me till I die and won't be needing any of this watered down crap that will be the new norm.
What a great time to buy amouage before they get turned to piss water! People might even be able to make some money on eBay sadly....
Some of them already watered down significantly
My favourites from the brand are Guidance, Overture Woman and Sunshine Woman.
Stock up before they water everything down.
It’s already begun!
I wont buy another amouage again if that happens hands off Amouage 🚫
