I like your safety precautions especially in handling lye. I am a semi retired physician with 49 years experience 12 of them in ER. Many people can't figure out why some people do things they want to do. A $25 tomato or $30 bar of soap! The inner satisfaction of having an accomplishment is most rewarding. To me your mission is one of the greatest therapy, better than medications or drugs. Keep up your publication and thanks for the tips.

I just had to share this with you, I made some goat milk soap and I could not decide what scents I wanted to use. So I though I wanted orange, so I put some orange in there, didn't like just that scent so I love vanilla, so I added that and I made the soap liquid. I showered with it this morning, and my sister took me to the doctor's and when we got home she said for some reason all she could think about today was the dream cycles we used to get when we were young. (I think they call them cream cycles) LOL I told her to smell my arm. Needless to say she went home with a bottle of my homemade soap, happy as could be.
I've made this soap like 6 times already an everyone loves this soap. I love it ! it's easy to make and the batter is so creamy! I have not yet to have a fail on this soap ! Excellent ! thanks Becky!
Thought it was worth mentioning, because I didn't see it in the comments, but my lye water took almost an hour to cool to 100°F. Wanted to share in case others were, like me, wondering when the blasted stuff would cool off already. lol
Two things I have found to make the process easier: 1. Overfill your mold, then use the metal scraper to smooth the tops over holding it over the excess loaf mold. 2. Use two heating pads set to low, one below the bottom towels, and one above the upper towels. This is especially useful for those times that the kitchen isn't as hot, an the soap wants to cool quickly :D Fantastic recipe!
I had just used this recipe. I just covered my molds with towels. I just have to say that at this point everything seems perfect! It became a pudding mixture just as she said it would. Lovely recipe. Already put this one in my recipe book. Thank u!!

Dear Becky, I am an unashamedly enthusiastic fan of your videos. It is so good to know there are other women out there who enjoy doing, making, creating, fixing, raising, cooking, exploring AND keep going AND have a brain. When I make soap, I usually give the moulds a good bang on the counter or floor before putting them to bed. This brings all the teeny bubbles to the top quickly. I also cure my soap for six weeks - but I make mine from a mixture of oils. Please do more videos, yours are great. 😊

I made this olive oil and goat milk soap. Loved the way it turned out. I didn't use any lavender oil or coloring. I am sharing this soap with a lady who has very sensitive skin. Next time I make it I will use the lavender essencial oil. Just love your soap recipes you share on You tube.

Just did it for the first time. A success. I did not use and fragrance or color (did not have any). It was my very first try. I used veg oil because it is cheaper. EASY TO DO. Thanks Becky
since I first watched your videos several years ago, I have been studying soapmaking a lot and finally got brave and did It. It's fun and my soaps have been great 😊 I learned that soap will even process in the fridge or freezer - the heat is only necessary for gel phase which makes the colors brighter; soap with milk tends to be better cooler, prevents the milk sugar from burning. I want to try lard soap next. Take care 💐

Just made this. It took 1hr for the lye and water to cool to 100 degrees. It also took 20 20sec intervols or 30min for it to thicken up to see a tracer. Im super excited 24hr and to give this soap for stocking stuffers. I scented mine with pachulie and amber. Plesant with the oliveoil and goat milk. I have made soap with my grandmothers recipe and gave it for Christmas presents one year with a vintage Christmas scene glued to the top of the bar and I just took a knife and tapered the edges to make it fancy:(! My Aunt lived here doo much she just displays it, but wouldn't use it! Lol, we used all over ours. I. Used all different kinds of oils, beef was my favorite after I strained it through a seice and then cheese cloth, it was beautiful snow white and no beefy smell at all, next a I used sausage and bacon, which turned more a buttery yellow and did have a but if pork smell, but by the time it was rendered and strained it was sooo soft on the skin, I tried ever oil I could get my hands on, but to keep it really budget friendly and practical I did like my grandma and used what we had and it worked out lovely and I got a tip that since lye is not sold over counter as 100% that you could buy a drain cleaner that on the label was 100% lye. It worked perfectly and so that was a big help. But, I cannot wait to try the goats milk and lavender!! I have friends who have goats maybe I can get some milk there, barter some soap:)! Or I would love,love to have my very own little baby goats! We brought home the cutest one ever, a tiny black one a long time ago, but our German shepherd really thought we brought her lamb chops. She has long since passed, so who,knows:)! Thank you for the fun inspirational videos and your sweet smile:)! I am so excited to get in the kitchen! I just have to gather my grease. I at my sausage as gravy thus morning, but maybe I could skim some off the turkey!! Hmm?? Also, I love your molds and the lavender:)! We have a lady that sells goat milk soap in the area. I have asthma, COPD, and allergies so I have to hold it up to my nose and sniff it. If the fragrance makes me wheeze, or my nose and eyes itch, I can't use that fragrance. The goat milk soap doesn't lather like store bought soap, but that's normal. I have very dry sensitive skin and it's so nice, and it leaves my skin is moist and soft. I love the stuff. I tell everyone how wonderful it is and they need to go get some. I just got 'Plum crazy' and 'Sedona Breeze' and they smell so nice! Maybe I will make some soap someday, but as I have birds, I will have to do it outside. I have been toying with the idea. Well, if my my Grandma could do it... I normally have to use hypoallergenic everything, even shampoo and conditioner. The only other thing I can use that is fragranced is Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day lavender detergent (unscented softener though). I really think it's the artificial everything they put in stuff now I react to. If I want rose oil for instance, it better be real rose oil in the bottle! Mrs. Meyer's uses real lavender and it _really_ shows. It really 'cleans like the dickens' too (better than Tide hypoallergenic). A little expensive, but at a tablespoon a load, it lasts a long time. Shh, I'm worth the little luxuries.
I'm using this recipe for my first attempt at soap making! I'm excited to see how it turns out. I subbed coconut oil for olive oil and canned coconut milk for goat milk. Hope it turns out!

That looks beautiful the pretty sunflowers & the soap looks so creamy!! It was so interesting to watch you make it & the ingredients are so pure & wholesome too with all the goodness & love that goes into it. Goat milk is so good for your skin with lactic acid and olive oil. I love the silicone molds too. I wish you had them for sale I would use them to cleanse my face♥ Do you have goats?
Love the video. Will make this recipe sans the colour since we have loads of lavender oil, and the silicon loaf pan like yours. Grew up making a similar soap when in France.
Spots are called DOS (dreaded orange spots). What kind of oils did you use? Canola oil, sunflower are just a few of the oils in high concentrations that can cause this reaction. I basically only use Olive, Coconut, Palm oils, with some Castor oils in 5% added for bubbles and superfatting with shea and cocoa butters.
Becky, I did this the first time I ever made soap and love this recipe. : ) Can I ask what is the superfat percentage? I'm still new and trying to figure these types of things out. Tx!
You're soap doesn't have to gell, most soapers that do swirls and designs, will keep a fan on the soap or stick them in the freezer, it still goes through saponification.Good job I love your videos!

Did you mame the olive oil goat milk soap? Wanted to knkw how it turned out..mi e never reached trace.. I wonder if it was the mixer I used..i poured anyway. Just checked. They are no longer a liquid. Their very soft. I hope they harden cause dam they smell delicious

We have a lady that sells goat milk soap in the area. I have asthma, COPD, and allergies so I have to hold it up to my nose and sniff it. If the fragrance makes me wheeze, or my nose and eyes itch, I can't use that fragrance. The goat milk soap doesn't lather like store bought soap, but that's normal. I have very dry sensitive skin and it's so nice, and it leaves my skin is moist and soft. I love the stuff. I tell everyone how wonderful it is and they need to go get some. I just got 'Plum crazy' and 'Sedona Breeze' and they smell so nice!
Maybe I will make some soap someday, but as I have birds, I will have to do it outside. I have been toying with the idea. Well, if my my Grandma could do it...
I normally have to use hypoallergenic everything, even shampoo and conditioner. The only other thing I can use that is fragranced is Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day lavender detergent (unscented softener though). I really think it's the artificial everything they put in stuff now I react to. If I want rose oil for instance, it better be real rose oil in the bottle! Mrs. Meyer's uses real lavender and it _really_ shows. It really 'cleans like the dickens' too (better than Tide hypoallergenic). A little expensive, but at a tablespoon a load, it lasts a long time. Shh, I'm worth the little luxuries.

I'm using this recipe for my first attempt at soap making! I'm excited to see how it turns out. I subbed coconut oil for olive oil and canned coconut milk for goat milk. Hope it turns out!
I made my first batch tonight and it looks great I did add oats and lavender to mine hardly can wait for the three week to pass bye

It was so interesting to watch you make it & the ingredients are so pure & wholesome too with all the goodness & love that goes into it. Goat milk is so good for your skin with lactic acid and olive oil. I love the silicone molds too. I wish you had them for sale I would use them to cleanse my face♥ Do you have goats?

Love the video. Will make this recipe sans the colour since we have loads of lavender oil, and the silicon loaf pan like yours. Grew up making a similar soap when in France.

Spots are called DOS (dreaded orange spots). What kind of oils did you use? Canola oil, sunflower are just a few of the oils in high concentrations that can cause this reaction. I basically only use Olive, Coconut, Palm oils, with some Castor oils in 5% added for bubbles and superfatting with shea and cocoa butters.
Becky, I did this the first time I ever made soap and love this recipe. : ) Can I ask what is the superfat percentage? I'm still new and trying to figure these types of things out. Tx!

You're soap doesn't have to gell, most soapers that do swirls and designs, will keep a fan on the soap or stick them in the freezer, it still goes through saponification.Good job I love your videos!
