    Curious about the cleaning tutorial you mentioned for the pocket brush but I can't seem to find it on your blog. Can you share the link pls.

    This is a great idea. I was wondering if there's a way to refill it, though?

    • @Nattosoup
      @Nattosoup  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Refill is easy! Silicon grease doesn't permanently seal the pen the way glue does, it just makes it more difficult for liquids to leak. Once your pen is empty, unscrew it and refill with an eyedropper!

    Great tip. I was wondering if Platinum Carbon would work in the Pentel Pocket Brush. You could also just refill the cartridge with an eyedropper if you were worried about leaking. Waiting for more info on your blog. Thank you, Becca!

      So after using the Platinum ink, I've found that it's a bit gray for most inking applications. In the past, I refilled the carts by hand, but found that much more tedious than this. For a blacker ink, one could probably get away with a shellac free ink, maybe Kaimei Sol K or Winsor and Newton's non waterproof India Ink (I assume the shellac is what would make India ink water resistant). One could also probably use sumi ink.

      Any ink that can be used in a fountain pen

      A Syringe is actually a better choice for refilling the cartridge itself. The dropper will make a mess.

      Pen Tool Refilling the cartridge better option definitely, although Platinum Carbon ink great suggestion as I have some.

    Sumi ink doesn’t work with out clogging. Perhaps filtered water and a drop of window cleaner to slightly dilute. Try it. But don’t use Sumi

    That's a limited edition pocket brush - the metallic shell pink. I've had significantly fewer blockages since mixing sumi ink with water. I'd say, don't use sumi ink. Remember that it's pigment is made from coal which coagulates with time. I'm using Parker fountain pen ink. If I'm wrong, well I'll happily say the funerary rites for your dead pocketbrush.

    Sounds like he's a "watch cat" or maybe he is trying to take over your videos! We have 2 & we've never had indoor cats before (married 37 yrs) always dogs. We have a mom & daughter, Sofia, that turned out to be a boy, Soapy. That's another story🙃 anyway the mom is very temperamental He/she is amazing & since I had to bottle feed him he thinks I'm a extra mom. I know your totally bored with me, but I really am watching & I'm learn a lot here. This is a wonderful idea & I'm defiantly trying it❣️👍🏻 watching Jane Davenport, she's a wonderful artist in Australia, & she fills her Pentel water brushes with the different inks. Wow I learned 2 great things in just a couple of hours! Actually 3, because you made it with waterproof & non-water proof. Thanks for the information. I love learning this kind of stuff, & although I've only been watching you tube for since about May, you are one of my first few subs. Both Ala Carte, you, & gosh can't remember her name! Well that sucks! Sorry, I know her avitar thingy. Hummm well she calls us her "squidlings" if that helps. But if I could give you support on Patreon I most defiantly would. Since I'm on a fixed income so is hubby now, we just don't have lots of extras. Here's what to watch for before getting old......we made $158,000.00 the last year he worked. Last year was the first year we only had his retirement & mine from him. Are you ready for this? We made $28,000.00....so be sure you save for it, or marry a rich person! Not to worry we do have savings. Maybe I should do a Patreon?!?! Just kidding. So now that I've just about written a book, & you did say you read them all, I better let you go. Besides I want to see what your selling 😃 Also I give you full permission when you see my comments next time you can run away or delete or just don't read it. I'm up unable to sleep so I picked on you tonight to babble to. Actually I think it was the mention of your cat. Hummm have a lovely rest of the night & thanks for being so smart & creative with the ink! I can now do that with my Liquitex muted ink in teal! I wish you all the success you can reach in your wonderful art! Also I think I'm old enough to be your granny, definitely your mom! Just in case you think I'm weird blabbing so much❣️👍🏻 my daughters would say I'm weird of course, I have 3 of them & a son & daughter-in-law. Take special care ok I think your a really nice girl that's very talented!

      I'm not bored at all! I totally misgendered Bowie at first adoption too- I thought he was a she. IMO, boy cats tends to have lots of personality (sometimes that's a bad thing), and are a bit more like dogs in terms of playfulness, at least while they're fairly young. Inside cats are a whole different kettle of fish from outside cats- Bow is insistent that watercolor water is the superior water, so I really have to watch him in my studio- an issue I never had with my outside cats. Please keep commenting- I tend to get very overwhelmed while traveling, so while I cant always respond to everything, I definitely see it!

    I would rather use a syringe and take an empty refill and put whatever color i want in it, including bombay inks o or use aquash. both "hacks" would be simpler than this

    Hmm. This hack has cost me 40$ so far thanks. I tried this way and just refilling the cartridge . For some reason the flow of ink suddenly realizes that I'm trying to get one over on the system and decides to gunk up and no longer allow ink to the bristles. Thanks but I'll just continue to use your microscopic ink cartridges Pentel. I wouldn't want your multi million dollar company take a hit to your profit margins. Got to love how getting one over on your fellow man is the norm these days. It's hard to fathom the human race ever reaching Mastery. FTW

      @@SyrianSoaper Or maybe it's just how she speaks?! I've known women who naturally sound like Minnie Mouse or have just a different manner of speaking because of how/where they were raised. Not everyone has a tenor or a flat narrator way of talking. She sounds perfectly fine, and there's no reason to insult her when this is an art tutorial that's quite useful as an alternative. btw I'm female too, and would far prefer people sound like her than be unnecessarily rude about something someone probably can't control.
