    I had the opportunity to visit Florence in 2022, and the Duomo was high on my list of things to see.
    It is an amazing building, full of history and art. Bravo Firenze

    I remember walking into the Saint Maria in 1974. I heard the sound of someone snapping fingers. It was a securtity man motioning me to remove my hat. The interiior was fantastic and Huge! The intricate stained glass embelishments, the dome itself. The cathedral has 3 huge alters and 3 incomplete peitas by Michealangelo.

      One phrase one negativity can compound itself on itself until itself becomes accepted norm. Everyday people around the world suffer great emotional and psychological well being states. Just be nice.

    SCUBA diving in the South Pacific filled me with a sense of awe. So did The Duomo and other parts of Florence.

    CORRECTION: the Duomo's dome is far bigger than the Pantheon''s.

    • @giovannimoriggi5833
      @giovannimoriggi5833 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      CORRECTION: the Duomo's dome is like 2 meters larger than the Pantheon's… but the Pantheon's one is a perfect semisphere. It's well known that in Florence they wanted to equal the Pantheon (as they also did for St. Peter's Basilica and everywhere else in the world), but they only succeeded by using a different technique and an octagonal shape that therefore makes use of structural arches, which the Pantheon does not. However, the fact remains that the different techniques were in both cases used in such an excellent way that they are still unmatched, and that the dome of the Duomo is placed 50 metres high, and a dome like the Pantheon's one can't hold a lantern. But it depends, to an extended comparison one should include also St Peter's one, which is still basically the same size as the others.

      @@giovannimoriggi5833 good point. At the same time here is a minor correction for you: the Duomo in Florence appears to be octagonal, but in fact, the interior dome is a continuous spiral of bricks. The dome of the Pantheon is a poured concrete structure that required the construction of an interior armature that was impossible in Florence.

    • @andrewvoros4037

      @@giovannimoriggi5833 also, a hemisphere is simply one giant continuously rotating arch.

    • @giovannimoriggi5833

      @@andrewvoros4037 Well… Why do you think you are correcting me? I never said the domes are the same, quite the contrary. But it doesn't change the fact that Brunelleschi's dome isn't much bigger than the Pantheon, and making comparisons is a bit obnoxious because the domes have different characteristics while the measurements are questionable, not only because it's only a couple of metres, but also because there are different viewpoints, such as weight and elevation.
      Furthermore, it was obvious that the model to be surpassed was the Pantheon, which was surpassed by a little anyway, even though the measurements might take different factors into account.
      PS: I know the three monuments very well, I live here

    If you are going to spend time at the ‘duomo’, make sure you go into the museum, to seethe treat treasures. The church and baptristy have been ‘stripped’, and those objects are now in the museum.
