The arch bridge with the pipes was in the movie Grapes of Wrath, as it was the original route 66 bridge.
Yes it was, it was the orginal rt 66 bridge it was called the old trails Bridge built 1915-1916 also the i 40 bridge traveling east was where the movie easy rider filmed the scene with the born to be wild them song (step in wolf) the bridge in the back ground of the scen has been taken down.
ya my dad white man was in that grapes when he was 8 years old his dad had five kids no wife had to find work . parked in a river bed and it flooded the car . picked corn so they could eat and sleep in a barn with half inch opening in the wood .

In 2001 I was flying four nights a week from San Diego to Albuquerque for FedEx. A FedEx manager in Albuquerque had a daughter whose birthday was coming up in a couple of days. He asked me if I would pick him up a double cheese burger and fries for her since there are no In-and-Outs in New Mexico and she loved their food. The night before her birthday I went to an In-and-Out near the airport in San Diego and asked to see the manager. He probably thought I had a complaint. I told him about the girl's birthday the next day and her dad wanted to surprise her and I wanted to buy a t-shirt or whatever else they had along with the food order. He smiled and said to hold on a minute. He went somewhere and came back with two t-shirts, a can cooler and some other stuff. I had already paid for the food but all the goodies were a gift to the FedEx manager's daughter.
The day after her birthday I heard that she was almost in tears when she got her "Special Delivery" from San Diego. That In-and-Out manager deserves an award!

I love it. I used to live in Golden Shores back in the late 1980's. It's changed but still recognizable. We used to go swimming in the summer at Catfish Paradise just north of Topock. Much warmer water than in the Colorado directly. About the bridge on Aztec Rd. That bring was built by the Indian Tribe to create better access to the Avi Casino. Kind of like how Don Laughlin built the bridge in Laughlin.
Wow, what an RV Haven. I hope they continue to allow overnight parking to respectful RVers and customers. We have yet to take the RV to Nevada.

as a former Arizona resident of many years I can tell you that in those desert towns along the western edge of the state (actually, pretty much anywhere in Southern AZ), the desert summer heat is like a blast-furnace that tries to boil you alive. The pavement actually melts. Birds have been known to explode in fireballs, mid-flight. Beautiful in the winter, though!
I think the best analogy is and also my favorite to use I tell people back home that summer here is exactly like the old Super Mario Bros. the one where the sun chases you trying to kill you I think it's an accurate description. I moved from Upstate New York to Bullhead a few years back had worked inside in the automotive repair field since 97 my 1st employment here was at Brake Masters that place completely removed any desire I had to continue in the auto industry in any form after 2short months. So I spent my 1st summer here in sunny AZ working outside erecting steel buildings. Baptism by fire I would consider it. I

Thanks for the ride. My brother and his wife have lived in Bullhead City and gambled in these areas for years. Casino gambling is their life.
We've never been there so the drive was greatly appreciated.The only times I've ever gambled is on 2-wheels, 4-wheels, up to 18-wheels on public highways.

If you do a search there is a site that shows all the casinos that allow RV parking/camping, RV casino something or other. The ones with full hook ups seem like a pretty dang good deal to me.

Avi was a huge Casino, but didn't seem to look as exciting as these other Casinos your at. $5.00 for a movie sounds great! Even at night all lit up, looks exciting. Hopefully you'll be able to get a good night's sleep. Always enjoy your videos!👍

Not everyone has a GPS & even if they do, it's great to see the landmarks & the lay of the land so one knows for sure they're going the right way & when to look for turnoffs, etc.
We love Laughlin. Were there last October and will be there again in a couple of weeks! We like camping at the Riverside Casino RV Resort where you took the night shots of the town.
The night skyline is awesome..love to hang and gamble there a couple of days

When I did a long round trip multi state vacation I stopped at my brothers place in Henderson NV we came through Laughlin to go hit old 66 through Oatman AZ I actually recognized that Gilligans building.

Once rode US 66 across from Anaheim, CA. It was, for an 11 year old, very boring. Too much same scenery. Thank you for driving this so now I don't

Just a fyi. I saw online the riverside also has a lot with full hook ups for $105 a week. I didnt notice any limitations on age of the rings which so many places have now. I asked the wife if she thought we could get the camper out of the snow drift in iowa. I'm thinking 3 weeks in the desert sounds better than -25 in iowa.!
Randy you can come over here to Illinois and camp. All RV parks are empty! Put your snow tires and chains on the RV first.

looks practically empty compared to other years i have been there. also, you must be self-contained to stay in those free lots. portable toilets in vans do not count, they make you leave.
Yeah Russ don't call it boondocking when they don't let you stay.

Another bridge is planned connecting Bullhead City to Laughlin to ease the traffic woes at Hwys 163, 95, and 68 intersection.

Laughlin River Lodge used to allow boondocking in the tiered lots across the street. Great river and light views at night, windy at time, tho. Closed due to new owners. What a waste. Harrah's Shell Station had $35/week or $7/nightly in their lot. Also included RV dump and free water fill up. Closed due to Covid. Still not open to this day.
Tropicana still has RV lot in the back, small fee, dump & water. Pioneer is still free, as is the lot at Riverside.
Don't know how this casino strip survives! No more buffets or good deals.
The Choctaw and the Chickasaw Casinos in Oklahoma charge unless you play. You don't want to buy propane there either, they are expensive. Havgudun Russ and be safe.
Russ, Big Bend has camp sites as well.

If you enter the Riverside through the south entrance nearest the parking lot, they want you to register your RV/van/traver trailer at the desk just inside the door where the schedules for the air program and group tours are located. The air program has been suspended until Fall 2021. If this desk isn't staffed, try the front desk of the hotel.
How many night can you boon dock where you stayed?

I would not be surprised if KOA hasn't put a lawyer after Avi free camping, claiming it hurts their business. Like, why would you spend $35 - 40 a nite when you can camp free across the street? Not much in the casino when it's 110°F but in the winter, may be a few in there.
The Avi owns the KOA.
Walmart parking lot. I heard you can park there free.
If you don't have a big money looking RV you are out. So don't get too comfortable.
