    Thought it was CP’s turn for an update? Wishing for pedal/sympathetic res./duplex stuff to go along with Hamburg/uprights/Nashville pianos. Needs that…

    Super excited for these new sounds and the new pianos have so much emotion and vibe to them! Can't wait to load these up. Looks like the new Firmware has the Original Top Gun soundtrack covered as well. "......highway to the danger zone!"

    Just downloaded this update and I'm loving all the new sounds. There are a LOT! Haven't gotten into the added functions yet, just playing with the sounds.
    As the owner of a CP88, now I'm eagerly awaiting the next update for that!

    • @ErraticFaith
      @ErraticFaith ปีที่แล้ว

      Its called the YC. Lol.
      As others have pointed out, there isn't sufficient difference between them anymore to justify the existence of both. So it's likely the CP is obsolete.

    Last update on CP88 was released on 2021-10. I am grateful for the updates on the CP88 but feeling left out on this as a CP owner. I also thought the YC and CP were on the same level and would get different updates based on their focus. Now it seems the YC is the top one.

    • @ErraticFaith
      @ErraticFaith ปีที่แล้ว +2

      CP was always going to be redundant now that the new offerings are spread out. There wasn't much between them when we had this debate on Gearspace/Yamaha forums and most thought the CP was a peculiar choice even then.

    • @ErraticFaith
      @ErraticFaith ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One assumes YC has been a bigger success in sales as a product. So this is in fact 'standard fare' for the industry overall. There's simply too much overlap for them not to focus on YC assuming this is the case, since the YC hits a broader market at roughly the same/similar pricepoint.

    I’m a little confused by this update. The CP88 is supposedly Yamahas flagship stage piano but the YC was organ focused? However, it looks like the YC is taking over from the CP series.
    I was hoping Yamaha would have updated the CP with true sympathetic string resonance, adjustable hammer,key release and pedal noise along with the missing clavinet pickup samples.
    The CP seems to be getting left behind and I’m really hoping Yamaha will continue to update it?
    I own both the YC61 and CP88 and whilst it is nice to have the new piano sounds on the YC, I bought it primarily for organ and a few extra bread and butter sounds and the CP for piano.

    • @onkeyz
      @onkeyz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      have both and the yc is alot better than the cp in all areas much more efx etc

    • @ErraticFaith
      @ErraticFaith ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's really only the smallest YC we can consider fully organ optimised key bed wise. But from what I have seen people are more commonly using Hammond/YC 88 stack than the CP. It was always too similar to the YC but far less capable, to be worth it.

    • @Jason75913
      @Jason75913 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The CP is getting the axe, YC must be the main one selling much more between the two.

    • @ErraticFaith
      @ErraticFaith ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Obviously for many (and more in the current global climate) a good amount don't have the money spare for multiple boards. Its partly why there is a big trend in mid-tier workstations over flagships. Which lends well to the lack of available components for manufacturers. That YC has overtaken the niche space of the CP isn't much surprise - as in the end users saw it as a CP with extras. I'd say really only the 61 had the organ focus but for the longest time even that was shy of the skpro by some margin. So its very likely that YC has, no-pun intended' taken the stage over its older sibling in the realm of Piano.

    In response to several people on here asking about the CP: it's hard not to feel that CP owners have been left in the dust. Note that none of the comments asking about it are getting addressed by Yamaha in any capacity. You could argue the comment section of a YT video isn't the proper forum for that, but let's be real, do they have any forum for this? I recognize several names on here from the Ideascale forum, and there's been nothing there, so that doesn't count. It's been about a year and a half since any update, and with no word from Yamaha at all, and now with the YC getting pianos that seemed like a CP exclusive, what are we supposed to take from that? What does the CP have now that the YC doesn't have, one Bosendorfer patch?
    They never advertised this as such, but with this update and the price points, it now feels like there's a distinct hierarchy:
    YC
    CP
    CK
    There's a phrase that's been going around, "Buy the instrument in front of you, not what you think the instrument could be." I should've learnt this lesson, and at this point, I feel like I need to move on to an instrument that already has the piano elements I'm looking for, rather than the spectre of hope that those elements could be added.

    Love Yamaha products and been using for years. My current rig is the CP88 and Montage 6 and absolutely love it. However, I'm feeling a little bit left out because you haven't released anything new for the CP88. I thought the CP88 was going to be piano focused and now there are all these great piano sounds on the YC. I really wish you'd come out with some warmer organ samples for the CP88 (I know it's only sample technology but the current ones are marginal). Or could you expand the favorites bank in the CP88? Hoping to see some new things with CP88.

    It is unacceptable that presets like CP 80 stage are not present in the cp 88 line... I think it was a mistake to have bought the cp 88 instead of the yc... Probably the yc will also be left behind without any further updates.

      It's been said plenty already around here and elsewhere but the CP isn't really relevant anymore and was always a risk comparatively, with how much the YC has to offer over it. I would expect them to shift all of their focus onto YC going forward as it's a much more successful and versatile device.

    There has to be some kind of stripped down FM-x engine on the inside, especially if it also runs AWM2 there has to be some shared architecture between this and the modx. Oh what I would give for an organ engine in the modx... there is probably a way to do it to be completely honest, especially if both are linux based.

    Update or great and all but why isn’t the the YC 61, 73, and 88 NOT available in any stores or online retailers but Yamaha has come out with a CX series before production of more YC keyboards

      @ldp7090 ปีที่แล้ว

      there were plenty in stock when i got one last summer, maybe production issue? should be able to get one on reverb still (at least in the US there are yc61,73 and 88 on reverb now)

      Global supply issues. The newer releases across the board are much cheaper and corner cutting. It's going to be a number of years still before the strain on global industry decreases (new facilities being built). So until then, added to people's shortage of money and familiarity with home/production - it's potentially too difficult to recoup RND costs and otherwise right now as well. Things will return, 'eventually'. However it's going to be an uphill battle for them versus the ease of software.

    No church organ yet? That's a pitty! You could just import it from CP series, that would make YC an even better fit for a church.

  • @maciejpierzchaa9058

    The YC series is Yamaha's brilliant idea. Unfortunately, this model has a terrible flaw. It cannot be that in the 21st century an instrument costing $3,000 can combine only two sounds plus Hammond. Nord has been struggling with this for many years, users complained about too few options for combining sounds. Yamaha has created an instrument that could be a competition for the Nord, but it is only for the Nord Electro... is it really impossible to update the system where, after turning on panel A or B, 1 and 2 appear on the display? Thus, we gain a combination of 4 sounds from sections A and B??? I think such a move would greatly contribute to the success of this instrument.
