Overlooked gem of a game. The Mummy meets a third person DOOM (2016). Mostly about solving puzzles until you run into an area where you have to clear enemies to advance or find a key. It sounds simple on paper, but the games pulls it off really well. The narrator and different personalities of the many characters add a certain charm to it as well. Never felt bored.
5:28 Anyone else notice the sound samples from the game were way to low to hear? Or was that just a problem on my end?

Seems to have potential as far as the idea goes kinda like a wonky arcade zombies giving birth to easter eggs mixed with Indiana Jones.
I *do* like shooting the money out of my enemies. That's an appealing factor that every game should have.

It always bothers me when there's no AI companions in solo mode. It's an issue I also had with Zombie Army trilogy.
I would have bought this game if they had done couch co-op. I come from the generation of 007 Golden Eye. By trying to get rid of playing with your friends in the same room your losing out! My girl and I relax by playing a game or 2 together. Won't be this one...
If you like RPGs try Divinity Original Sin 2. Best couch Co op game I've ever played.
This^^ I had a blast with my brother and nephew on Left 4 Dead 2. I miss games like that where you can couch co-op.
A lot of companies think nobody plays local multiplayer anymore but the best selling game franchises like COD, Madden, Mortal Kombat, etc. all have local multiplayer. And that's why people don't even question those titles when they come out every year or so. I don't even like the games I listed all that much but they are obviously doing one thing right that nobody else wants to do or are too cheap and lazy to do.

When I realized Rebellion made this, I knew the co-op aspect was going to be good. Looking forward to playing this with my chums! Egad!
I hope Strange Brigade finds it's audience. Tho it is not a game that appeals to me at least it is a new IP for people to try or get into. As you did a brilliant job of noting what other movies and games this barrow's from, but again at least it is not a forced sequel to a game we did not ask for or have enough time to miss :). Just got it for $20 and I am happy.
i was bored today so i grabbed some cash and went looking for a random game .. so i got this :) it's a fun game with a decent multiplayer too . . happy days ! i'm not a fan of season passes on any game so i'll give that a miss but the core game is worth checking out and for the fifteen euro i spent on it i couldn't go wrong really ..
sound, music and voice...did you make this as quiet as possible on purpose? I had to crank youtube to even realize there was any audio.
lol. If you haven't watched much ACG, this is abnormal for the channel.
He usually cranks volume up there, but I guess something went wrong.

Well i just loved my playthrough of Strange Brigade... really fun. the boss fights are tuned PERFECTLY. nail biting and heart pounding but never felt unfair. Lots of funny moments too. great voiceovers. the guns were pretty fun to customize too. have to say... i would sure buy the DLC's or sequel. really fun. i do agree the 50$ asking price was a bit much at release. definitely buy this on sale if you can.
Have it pre loaded and ready to go. Cant wait!

I'm a little late to this. I have played sniper elite 2 and 4, both a lot of fun and well done. 4 has a lot of replay value by chaning the settings. I thought about the zombie game, but this sounds like there is more to it. Amazon has it for $30 so I think I will try it. The sniper games are awesome. Rebellion has a nice niche in their style, which is bare bones but works, like a AA plus game.
Pre-ordered and put in around 2 hours with a couple of friends last night, in addition to having a few randoms drop in to fill the last slot here and there, had a blast. I could see if being problematic if it was just 1 person playing, but the seamless drop-in/out mechanic to get people in your game makes that a non-issue in my eyes, unless they just come in to grief you on certain puzzles you need to complete, and then it's easy enough to kick them.
game is definately worth buying! Great gameplay, graphics are pretty good, story is very well thought out, the puzzles are easy could be harder but still fun to do. id recommend this game anyday
I've no idea who the "English" voice actor is but I loved his performance in Defence Grid 2 where he played a wonky AI character.

I love this game! Probably wasn't worth the 50 dollars as it's a pretty easy game to beat. There are are some parts however that took me a few tries to getting past the temple guardian near the end. You have to have another person do that with you imo. I've tried playing a couple times in multiplayer and it's frustrating when they don't have a mic and trying to tell them how to get past the puzzles. It is a game to replay to get all the goodies and horde mode is great. Gonna start score attack soon. I do highly recommend the game just when the price drops.
Had my eye on this game while simultaneously forgetting it was coming out. Scores sounds what id expect, glad it wasn't another bomb, but cant justify buying a coop only title as i have no one else to play with. Hopefully itll end up on gamepass further down the road
You can play this in single player aswell. Plus you can do online co op as well if you dont mind playing with randoms.
I've never heard of Strange Brigade until now. However, I might have to give the game a shot, but only after a price drop because I don't think that it's worth the current $50 price tag. Otherwise, thanks as always Karak for the great review. I really appreciate it!

Hi Garrett, just a suggestion, the review was excellent as always, but when you conclude can you please very clearly and unambiguously display using text on screen whether to buy, wait or deep deep sale/rent etc.? You were too fast to state wait without any onscreen hints at the end and it doesn't kind of click instantly what you are recommending.

From what I can tell of the aiming, you always hit where your crosshair is, regardless of where your gun actually is. Making it very confusing especially when enemies are right on top of you

Fun fact: Know what I love the most about your reviews compared to almost every other outlet? I have made a game with myself about how early into a review I can predict what their score is going to be. With some like IGN, I'm getting really good at being within a few tenths of a point usually by about the halfway mark.
You, on the other hand consistently stump me because you don't look at the game by it individual components, but as an overall package. So even if the sound is ok, the graphics are good, the story is fun...that "fun factor" can just derail my prediction at the end, lol...which I love. It's very much the same way that I view games, as well.
Even if I disagree with your rating...I respect the way you get there. Keep it up, my man.
Just purchased strange brigade today and it won't launch in steam?? Nothing happens and it's pissing me off.. Even tried it in the bin. Files but still nothing?? Disabled Bitdefender also and still not working?? Please help!!
I would only be interested in the campaign, playing solo. So the omission of AI buddies is a big one.
Not as big as you think. The game is fun, there is no real story, it's simply a very arcady shooter. It is a lot of fun, the "lack of diolog" really does not detract from the game.

they sure are enjoying your hard earned moolah as well, I just don't think they have the finesse as other game developers, it always feels like a B - movie, even though you enjoy playing it its just not at the same level as other mainstream games.
They definitely know what they doing but they definitely dunno how to set their price.
Every game they launch set to rocket sky high and within years is heavilly discounted and the game is DEAD.

Really enjoying Strange Brigade, but no matter how hard I try resist, Warhammer 40,000 - Inquisitor: Martyr just drags be back kicking wand screaming with excitement.

Timesplitters? Really? One does not hear many games of this generation compared to that Free Radical franchise. That definitely peaks my interest. The humor and charm of that series is still memorable today; at least in my humble opinion. I personally do not play many shooters regularly but that and Rare’s Perfect Dark were the exceptions at that time. My brother and I still play Timesplitters when we have spare time; in particular Future Perfect. I’ll have to keep this game in mind. The classic black and white horror aesthetic used in overviews before missions, akin to Universal Monsters films of the early 20th century is a nice touch, just like in those films a synopsis of the crew and their mission before getting obliterated by the supernatural, ha. Strange Brigade even if not fully to the standard of Timesplitters, a shooter taking a more comedic route rather than the usual serious narrative, is worth a look; maybe not at fifty dollars but still a look nonetheless. Thanks for the heads up with this title Karak, and the sustained discipline to cover games and subjects that others in the gaming industry do not.

This game doesn't appeal to me. Rebellion developments have made some of my all time favorite games though, so who knows, maybe I'd enjoy this game too. Rogue Trooper, Judge Dredd vs Death, Zombie army Trilogy, and Aliens vs Predator (2010) are awesome games.
Rogue Trooper Redux was really cool. Wish they would remaster Aliens vs Predator (2010) too.
