Products → www.howtowithd... Doc shows how to tell the difference between lawn crabgrass and goosegrass. Then he shows the two products he used last year with good results.
Quinclorac (18.9%) as a post emergent took take of my crab/goose grass problem. That and proper use of Prodiamine in the early spring prior to germination. Plus last year i over seeded my lawn and new seed in a few others and this year i really have not had any crab grass or goose grass. Water/cut your lawn/ and fertilize regularly and you can get rid of it. I've tried Tenacity as a post emergent...no bueno. Took 2 seasons to eradicate it.
I used quinclorac in the Drive XLR8 product a month ago here in NE Oklahoma on a patch of crabgrass 15x8 in size. MIxed with MSO surfactant. It worked extraordinarily well. Quick too. Next year i'll make sure to hit that spot with the pre-emergent as well.
Yes, takes care of it pretty quickly. A little surfactant mixed in and away you go. All of the mildly effective treatments targeting crab and goosegrass have a small % of quinclorac in it.. just not enough.
I've been meaning to treat an area of my yard, an area I don't really need to care about, for goose grass. thanks for the tip. My nice lawn area with bermuda is currently free of any weeds including goose and crab grass. Yes we are in a drought period and hot temps. This usually happens in July. Started a bit earlier this year.
For Bermuda or Zoysia turfs, try Solitare Herbicdie, its a combo of Quinclorac (Drive XLR8) and Sulfentrazone, it's a granular product which seems to have a better shelf life than liquid products. Sulfentrazone does a great job on Goosegrass as well as other grassy weeds.
Hey Doc , glad you showed the centipede grass. I have what I thought was centipede in a few spots of the yard but it never produced stolon's until this year. I've tried using a phone app which is about 70-80 percent accurate that identified it as St. Augustine. You mentioned the heat, we're starting the annual heat advisory here in Texas. Try to stay cool. Enjoy your channel.
Dismiss Herbicide will take care of Goosegrass and crabgrass. Also, there is Revolver or Tribute Total herbicides. There is a fairly newer product called Xonerate herbicide will get it also.
Wish we could send you some rain we keep getting up here in Minnesota. Have not needed to turn on my sprinkler system yet this year. Last year was a drought year. Crazy weather.
Doc!! I follow you, watch all your videos and want to ask a question. Really doubt I’ll get an answer due to I know your so busy but maybe the “Good witch an answer for you? 😂 What and when should I use a surfactant when dealing with my lawn? I love the green dye(used it today with my fungus treatment but why is a surfactant used sometimes? Keep doing it Doc! Oorah! Thank you for your service Sir!!
It's only used when something that is sprayed needs to make contact with the foliage of the plant. Most plants and grass are hydrophobic / water beads up. The surfactant allows it smoothly cover foliage
Doc! What about Nutsedge! What's The best too! Use on your lawns without killing our Grass! :) I've got tons of Nutsedge multiplying all over my Front Yard!
MSMA is a herbicide but it is only permitted to be used in large plots of land like roadside, golf courses, or sod farms. It's not deemed safe for residential use because it is a carcinogen that absorbs in the soil and can get in the water. So the threat of cancer, not so good@@markprince1141
I've got so HUGE patches of goose/crabgrass but I'm terrified of using any of these products because I'm worried I'll contaminate my well water. What can I safely use to control or get rid of it? I'm hoping to seed Zenith Zoysia, but I can't see it succeeding unless I can find a way to thin out the goose/crabgrass.
Doc, can SpeedZone EW and Drive Herbicide be mixed together and sprayed on both, and be just as effective. I have quite a bit of both goose grass as well as crab grass in my yard and have ordered both chemicals after your video.
I’d take those over the vetch that infiltrated my yard! I’ve tried to spot target with roundup and ended up just killing grass and my verigated hostas, the vetch is stronger than ever!

@@zaknefain100 that why i switched to a product with the higher 18.9% quinclorac.

Would love to see this.
Fusilade 2 is labled for control of both Crqbgrass and Goosegrass
Speed zone works great 🔥🔥🔥
The Bermuda is coming in nicely. Common Bermuda is what we primarily have in my neck of the woods.

Thanks for the video Doc.
Can you post a link for when you did the lawn renovation for that property?
You need a Grandpas Weeder for that goose grass😂😂👍
Even with that it’s still hard to get those suckers out
Hey Doc, got any guidance for treating Bermuda for an invasion of spurge?
Can’t wait to see the finished chicken habitat!
I have a ton of both of those
What do we use in our shrubs and plants for a fungicide ? Can we use lawn fungicide. Or something better ?
I just sprayed my rose bushes with lawn fungicide. I'll let you know 😂😂

Dismiss is a good option but read the label carefully
Doc you ever use spectrazide grass n weed killer works in 3 hours n rain proof in 15 minutes
Speed zone is the best!
Tribute Total 3.2 oz/acre for Bermuda and zoysia
Crabgrass-3.2 oz/acre + NIS
Goose-3.2 oz/acre + MSO and AMS
Thanks Doc!
I’ve got my licenses and will MSMA treat both?
Please could you explain what that is?
MSMA is a herbicide but it is only permitted to be used in large plots of land like roadside, golf courses, or sod farms. It's not deemed safe for residential use because it is a carcinogen that absorbs in the soil and can get in the water. So the threat of cancer, not so good@@markprince1141
I think it does treat both but you know MSMA is deemed unsafe for residential use because it's a carcinogen.
What camera and mic do you use for your videos doc?
Cherish this moment he actually said centipede lol
I have some Saponaria/Cro Soap spreading in my Bermuda. What can I use to kill it off?
How do you get rid of carpet grass?
I've got so HUGE patches of goose/crabgrass but I'm terrified of using any of these products because I'm worried I'll contaminate my well water. What can I safely use to control or get rid of it? I'm hoping to seed Zenith Zoysia, but I can't see it succeeding unless I can find a way to thin out the goose/crabgrass.
If you have a deep well no worries.
Speed zone nocked out my goosecrass I have some nutsedge as well what would you recommend for that
Tribute total?
Doc, can SpeedZone EW and Drive Herbicide be mixed together and sprayed on both, and be just as effective. I have quite a bit of both goose grass as well as crab grass in my yard and have ordered both chemicals after your video.
I would probably not... but again... I never say never if you can balance the app rates.
A 21" blade is $36 ouch that is painful to replace.
Looks like they are Spraying your Skies there also...
My god, just relax already
crabgrass.....grrrr. Thanks! I have centipede.
Goosegrass is medicine
