Hi Ivar, thanks for sharing and thanks for all your videos for years. Definitely there is much more pilgrims than what statistics say. For instance in 2023 I walked one week in May from SJPDP to Logrono, then Leon to Sarria, and summer Norte from Santander to Stgo then walking to Fisterra and Muxia. As it is not my first Camino I didn’t ask the compostela, so most likely out of the official statistics. Take care and looking forward to watching your next video. 🙏
Thanks @@Ivar Will be in Santiago at the end of April and also in May leading a group from Santiago to Muxia and then doing the last part of the Via del Plata so will pop in and say 'hi'.
Thank you Ivar and pilgrims for providing all of the helpful tips on this forum. I just booked my flight for a May start. It is my first Camino. I look forward to meeting you upon completion of the journey.
Happy New Year Ivar! I think you are right about pilgrims collecting the Compostela. I have walked seven times but only collected the Compostela after the first time. Buen Camino to those walking or who will be walking this year, I wish I could join you!
Thank you Ivar, for the update. Interesting stats. A little surprised that the Invierno numbers are down, though not everyone registers with the Pilgrim Office. I walked it Sept 2023 and was the only one to register of our small group of 4. I hope you are well...
I was thinking that it might be because that is most likely not the first camino you walk.. and therefore you might not get the Compostela... and not being registered.
Yes, my 3 friends had all done previous camino, but they also had just had covid and didn't/t walk every stage. I've walked many previous camino but I still love to get stamps each day and like to register in SdC. Sorry I didn't call in to meet you. Next time...@@Ivar
When you speak to the creator of Gronze again please pass on thanks from this pilgrim for such a fantastic resource. I walked Le Puy to Finisterre via Podiesis, Norte and Primitivo and Gronze was such an essential and appreciated resource.
Many thanks, Ivar for your update! I am planning a late May start...do you think it is a good time to begin? Many blessings to you and your family! and a Happy New Year!
Hello & Happy New Year Ivar! Once again I thank you for your updates. I am getting ready to walk the Camino Portuguese starting from Lisbon using the Wise Pilgrim latest guide I ordered late in 2023. I now find out that this guide as well as Brierly are outdated and so is Camino Ninja app and the only one who reflects this change out of Lisbon is Buen Camino app. It would be helpful if you were to address this change for those of us who face doing a 30+ km day out of Lisbon before we can find accommodations. Thank you

The area affected is between Parque das Naçőes and Povoa de Santa Iria rendering that leg much more direct along the river and therefore shorter
I think the numbers in Indonesia may be up due to a local documentary. I remember someone saying this when I was on the Camino in April 2023.
Ahh.. I had no idea..
2024 😊
😂 I guess I added to all of those statistics this year: foreigner (US), female, Portuguese route in September ✔️
Why do you think the Portuguese coastal has become more popular.
My bet is shorter than the Norte but along the water
