I did a work exchange at Medicine Wheel 2013/2014 when Patricia was still alive.. made really amazing friendships and learned a lot about myself and the world. I was only 20 years old. Wow I would love go back and visit.
That looks like heaven to me..that little boy s just adorable..this is how I think little ones should be..open space..community....I really want to live there
They aint eco villages. A bit of basil is not going to feed and cloth and provide income for any community. Eco communities are self sufficient highly utilise the land and have plenty of animals to eat or collect eggs from. Not a couple of beansprouts in the yard of a highly ugly prefab house.
@@brittnylove2924 OK .That should make for some riveting content. In my experience , (I lived at Svanholm Gods), the first years hold true excitement and the biggest challenges too. I urge you to take a look at the south sound area around Yelm. It holds great promise, meaning it's up and coming, and is at a decent elevation and distance from the ocean with clean water and spectacular nature. Godspeed !
Brittany, would you please revise your youtube upload to spell our community's name correctly? It's "Earthaven," all one word, not two. Also, our meeting hall is called the Council Hall (not the consensus hall) although the street it's on is called "Consensus Circle," so I can see why you'd think that. I see a comment below that we're a town, not an ecovillage. Well, we're a rural, village-scale commuinty on 329 acres. Someone says "it looks deserted" and asks where all the people are. We each live in the 13 neighbothoods, which are in the three converging stream valleys on this mountainous property. Brittany didn't videotape any of us at our gatherings, yet she did videotape the neighborhood of several homes in the beginning of the video. That's where I live. Someone quite uninformed commented below that Steve is " the self-appointed king of the place, who calls himself 'president'." Every year we elect the four state-required officers of our Homeowners Association, the legal entity by which we co-own the property. Steve was the president we elected the year Brittany was there. (Also, the little building by the outdoor kitchen is our mail trailer, not a first aid station, though we do have first aid items in there.
Fun fact: In the 1970s they called privately owned communities like this "communes". Back then they got a bad rap because they were usually tiny dictatorships led by a religious cult. I mean, the members seemed happy because they couldn't pull back the camera and realize they lived in poverty. The leader(s) tends to enjoy more benefits than the rest. So back then communal living was considered a recipe for predation upon kind hearted enthusiasts of togetherness. It'll be different this time because it's called something else and definitions have changed. Cheers❤
I agree that the general impression of this place is deserted...I think it would have been useful to video at least some places with people in them-seems kinda contradictory to video community living without the people, like you’re showing an empty house to prospective buyers. Looks like a beautiful place for the most part!
Love your video, but you only have two posted. Did you stop making videos or has life just taken you elsewhere? I'd love talking to you about your experiences and life journey.
Be extremely careful not to join this community. I have known this place from the start. I have friends 18:00 that live there. buildings are not up to code and not kept in repair. This group sucks alot of local nonprofit services and does not volunteer . With all the folks who live there they should not ask for donations to fix or build buildings. They should be able to get work and pay for repairs. This is not always a clean place.
A beautiful place to live, but I am curious about the people. Are they nice happy people or snotty people who think they are better than everyone else? A beautiful place to live means nothing if people look at you in disgust when you drive by in your Ford F-Series.
Proceed with caution before committing to Earth Haven. Steve Torma is the self anointed king and ruler. He even calls himself "President." It's a business. You aren't really free, you have a whole bunch of mostly unwritten rules that you must follow. You will be under observation and will be judged by what they think you should look and act. You can be asked to leave arbitrarily. If you like to conform to other people's standards than this might be the right place to live.
why exactly did you leave if you don't mind me asking? I like the idea of communal living, living with less waste, and sharing and interaction instead of independence and isolation. However, I'm sure my idea of living in a place like this is different from actually doing it.
That is not an eco community even by a distant abuse of the word. Its just a town. When we gt planning for ours we pulled those types of houses down. I am surprised others didnt tell you it was just a town, not an eco village.
Lots of plastic !!! Looks deserted ? Why is it so disorganised ? Why is it so dirty ? Why so many vehicles ,I thought being eco was to use horse and cart, no plastic, bare minimum etc but I just saw a non eco life.
they are way up in the mountains, so some cars adefintely needed - nobody is perfect in this process of turning our lives around, but they are making a good effort - sadly i was asked not to film people due to privacy reasons - but i have a few new eco village videos coming out where the people from these communities were cool with it :)
They have put a LOT of very good work into making the Village comfortable😊

If the rest of the country could cooperate and get along like this it would be a much better place
Wonderful! I love this place!

Incredibly beautiful...a place I would be happy to live!

Nice find Brittany. Of course the one thing missing is? How are the people, what's going on?? To be continued, aehh?? You can do It!
Hi tom :) great question! I am actually working toward getting land establishing a community here in the Pacific Northwest

I was really loving this video until I read this negative..picky comment😡
@@pinkwelliesful haha too funny! but it's not a bad thing to want their own community spelled correctly haha
Deborah Bailey surely a direct message to the poster about changing the spelling of the name would have sufficed 😆
its a nice country club 5 stars!

Nice life
In your travels, did you find any 420 friendly eco villages?
I would love to live here! Where can I get more information?

nice.
What do the people on the eco village do for an income?
My dream. Is this a buy into only kind of community?
For a community of 80 people it looked deserted Where is everyone?
i know it sucks, cuz the people there are beautiful and kind - but i was asked not to film anyone due to privacy requests
I'm interested in learning more about one of these in ON Canada? Where can I find them?
Lisa B Check out the Global Ecovillage Network! ecovillage.org
Ha, Ha Triad Community!
Where is this at

A lot of “eco” villages are like this.. they can also be pretty exploitative and culty too.

Arial Breeze you’re very ill informed obviously. Smh. Learn more about it before commented false information. Shame on you.
This is fake information, see the reply to the video below.

Brit. Love my dear. . u know of any communities that except pregnant women ... With out a man
I think she’s trying to recruit more people after the original members drink all the Kool-Aid

How would someone find out the steps needed to join/ move into a place like this? What is the standard procedure?
