Oh my gosh, I don't know anything about Jake's preference or dating history but I felt chemistry of some sort in that interview. Was I alone in that feeling? What ever it was there was a very human bond/connection that came thru to me from both sides. For my part, I think I have a motherly sort of crush on Dan Levy, there is something in his spirit that is so special
I liked Dan's dad on SCTV. I would watch him on TV and just laugh at how funny he was and still is. Now I get to watch the next generation of the Levy family, Dan, and Sarah, be funny like their dad. Dan and Sarah are humble because that humility comes from their dad. There's not an egotistical bone in any of the Levy family's bodies. In a way, Dan and Sarah are the way that they are because of their mom, Deborah, and dad, Eugene.
This was a very good interview; he gave Dan time to really talk. Schitt’s Creek will go down as one of the greatest comedies of all time, due to the depth and heart of Dan and the whole team.
His pup is so laid back, slept all the way through the interview, so cute...DL is such a grounded, common sense, good person but I still love, love David with all his crazy but true to himself quirks..." I don't do well with running" and the baseball glove that was brown and the shoes were black, perfection.
Wonderful interview with my current fan crush. I LOVE listening to him talk. He is so articulate and oozes sexiness.....🥰 And Redmond in the background sleeping through the whole thing!
I’ve never liked a show as much as Schitt’s Creek. I’ve never felt as safe as when I’m in its world. I’ve never known love as free to grow as when I’m watching it. It’s not been an easy few months for any of us, but knowing that it will always be there for us makes everything okay. Thanks to Dan, Eugene and all the cast, crew and writers for creating this perfect gem of a show that has shown us how beautiful the world could be. They will never truly understand what they have given us or how much their beautiful creation has meant to us. Our effusive thanks is but a mote of dust in the beam of sunlight we bask in thanks to them. We will forever be indebted to them for the joy they have given us in 22 minute segments and I wish nothing but the best of luck with all future endeavours. I think that the fact that there is no homophobia or bigotry in Schitt's Creek is wonderful and that is why it means so much to LGBTQAI+ people and their allies. There never needed to be an angsty episode where people were commenting on David's Pan-sexuality, Patrick being Gay, Jake being Polyamorous (although I suspect that Jake is a Sexual Hedonist rather than Poly) or Ronnie being a Lesbian. Everyone just accepts everyone for who they are, and wouldn't that be a wonderful world to live in?
17:50 I remember thinking on several occasions throughout watching these seasons: when is the homophobic situation going to come up. How awful is it that we live in a world where you're constantly looking behind you and waiting for the opposition to rear its head. When you just automatically anticipate something to go wrong because it's always been portrayed and talked about in that way. It wasn't until the end of season 5 that I even began to think maybe the writers purposely chose to not have that kind of encounter in this series. And sure enough! Thank you Schitt's Creek for setting such a beautiful example of what an accepting and loving community can look like! Your subtle acts of defiance mean the world to me :)
I have seen spoiler-y gifsets and appreciation posts before I finally binge-watched all six seasons in the span of an extended weekend, so I actually knew that the show had some kind of happy ending (though I didn't know exactly what the finale was), and still, whenever the episode featured Patricks and Davids growing relationship, I found myself subconsciously dreading the next episode, like "when will the other shoe drop? will they breakup? will one cheat on another? will one or both of them die?" because the "bury your gays"-trope had become such a staple, the go-to instrument to produce drama. I'm not even sure when was the moment that I realised "oh... Oh! They are not! they get to be happy! They will have a forever after!" I can't stop tearing up everytime I see a clip from the show or an interview."

When he said it takes a lot of skill to make someone laugh and then cry in seconds....that’s what it’s done to me. I haven’t been able to put into words the rollercoaster of emotions I feel as I watch the show, but that’s what it does. It makes you laugh at some of its ridiculousness and then cry at all of those heart warming moments. I can’t get enough of it.
Absolutely Love seeing Redmond sleeping in the background of the interview! I am involved with Rescue of Dogs and Cats from shelters and Dan Levy mentioned in an early interview that Redmond is a Rescue! Amen, Dan Levy!
My son, who resembles Dan Levy, encouraged me to watch Schitts Creek and it’s 2021/2022 and I’ve been just now watching! I have absolutely fallen in love with the characters!! And if I wasn’t 54 and happily married, I’d move back to California and find a youth potion to just hang with Dan Levy and his family and Annie and Stevie!! 😍
Dan, somewhere you were shown acknowledging that you deserve a wonderfully healthy relationship like you and Patrick enjoyed in real life and I hope that shows up in your life, soon. I believe you've earned it. May your own, available Patrick show up and may you have the Stevie and Alexis who are aware enough to make sure that you don't blink and miss it.
Congratulations on a brilliant interview, well done Jake, when Daniel Levy is interviewed by someone who knows and loves the show it is brilliant. If you looking for another one of this caliber listen to David Tennant podcast interviewing Daniel. Thanks Jake
17:48-18:21 I wasn’t going to give power to the other side. BEST line. In not having bigotry and homophobia in the show.....it didn’t give it power! LOVE THAT!!!
I know I keep commented but what a fab interview, especially because the interviewer asked such good questions and was clearly a huge fan 😁 Also have noticed how Dan doesn't tend to call it 'their little shows often anymore! He's such an inspiration and interviews so damn well!! 🥰
Very nice interview with thoughtful questions and not cutting off the guest. Dan Levy has changed television comedy for me. Looking forward to what comes next. What a cast!
Daniel is so well spoken. This was one of the best interviews. The interviewer did a super job. Was the show so great because of all the Canadians involved, or because of all the great people involved? * It doesn’t take much to be a great or even good person. Take a lesson from this wonderful show. I hope some lightbulbs will be lit. * Maybe the Canadian connection had something to do with it. We aren’t perfect, but sometimes, do get some things right. 🙂
Can I just say that it makes me so incredibly happy that Jake is such a great interviewer? So many interesting questions, so much enthusiasm, you can clearly see he's in love with Dan as much as we are and that is such a gift.
This was a very enjoyable interview. Probably in the top 5 "live" interviews with Dan Levy I've heard. It was different enough from the ones Dan has granted in the past 2 years to make it worth it to tune in. Many interviewers don't try hard enough in that respect. I appreciate that you went beyond the typical gushing questions or pablum
I have to admit, I don't like dogs. Never have and never will. However, my eyes have been glued to that precious, beautiful dog for this entire interview!!! He's such a cutie! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
As a dog and cat owner, I'm curious as to why exactly you do not like dogs? My nephew doesn't either because a dog scared him big time when he was little and it kinda traumatized him...🙃
to go through life not like dogs but watch an interview and see someone's dog sleeping in the background and all of the sudden make some insincere comment for attention like what the f*** is wrong with you people
Excellent questions and thoughtful clarifying answers. I haven’t yet seen any interviewer ask Dan about his thinking and intentions regarding David Rose’s wardrobe, what he meant it to say about David’s character - why those particular styles.
Love this chat so much. Dan, you are a genius and a svengali. You are all gems and my family and I are on at least our fourth binge watch of the series. Jake, you're incredible as an interviewer! My last and favorite thing I must say is that my 8 and 10 year old kids LOVE the 'fold in the cheese' snippet. I'm a proud mom. xoxo (Dan, get more eyeglasses in stock, please. That is all.)
I've watched a lot of interviews with the cast of Schitt's Creek - and your interviews with Dan & with Eugene had the most insightful (and the least repetitive) questions. Good interviews!
good interview Jake - good questions and allowed Daniel Levy to roll out some great discussion as well as keeping things moving so you could cover lots of ground. nice work! looking forward to the next interview.
I love this show so much, watched so many times and examining many plots and thinking why this gets to put in the show. I found that I almost catch every point that Dan says.. love so much that I’m so willing to translate it into my mother language.
I live in a small rural town. I would never want to live in a suburb or city again. Country people are portrayed as racist, homophobic and ignorant too often. More are strong, intelligent, caring and loving people who would give any stranger the short off their back.
Do people realize that we are going to have a hard time falling in love with his next projects. We will always be hooked to Schitt’s Creek. He has a lot of pressure to beat the success of Schitt’s Creek.
I too , as a 62 year old married woman, am in love with Dan, and fall in love with him more each day. I love David as well. Daniel would have no interest in me, but he could put his shoes under my bed any time. David might.😍
I bought the Series set and although I'm not gay I loved this because it wasn't political, racist nor thrown in your face so to say meaning it just showed gay people as "normal" people in love.
I think season 6 was rushed. I wanted to see more wedding planning, david and Patrick fight over decorating and wedding food and music. I wanted to see more, that ir

Absolutely fantastic interview. Thank you so much for this thoughtful dialogue ❤️
I realize I'm kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good website to watch newly released tv shows online ?

Best interview ever!!!
I’ve fallen in love with this precious human being! You are a treasure Dan!
He makes me look with less hate in my heart
So am I. He is a genuinely really good guy. I'm obsessed with him.
Dan is so humble in that he always refers to the show as "our" show and never "my" show.
I like Dan a lot but you seem to have a low bar for humility
I liked Dan's dad on SCTV. I would watch him on TV and just laugh at how funny he was and still is.

He did once when he was talking about being dumped and he was like “it’s ok I have my own show now”. Funny but a bit heartbreaking at the same time
@@silverdoe3658 Is this the same boyfriend that he followed to Europe and then came back home after he got dumped?
Celeste Keenan I assume later as he says he got the person a job to be nearer to him and got dumped straight after 😭
