You can argue one of the most revolutionary workers in the industry. We rightfully mention Tiger Mask, Bret, Shawn but his style helped forward the wrestling business with the style we see today. He easily would have been a star in NXT, New Japan or AEW if he came around today.
Bobby Eaton was an incredible worker but an even more incredible person. Time to watch some Midnight Express matches today. Thank you for everything Bobby.

No arguing, definitely one of the most revolutionary. He was using the top rope regularly before it became fashionable. Truly a once in a lifetime performer. RIP Bobby.

In December of 98, Goldberg wanted a past-his-prime Bobby Eaton to be the man to end his win streak. That should tell you everything you need to know about Bobby Eaton. WCW had a company full of huge names and the only one Goldberg trusted and wanted to drop a loss to was Beautiful Bobby.

@@chadk890 of course. But Hogan had a big head. He was the biggest pro wrestler of all time until Stone Cold, The Rock, and John Cena came along. And you could argue that he's the biggest because without him wwe wouldn't be what it is today and wouldn't have been what it was in the later 90s and early 00s.. without hogan, its like none of those other guys would even be known today. Maybe, but its possible they wouldn't be. They definitely wouldn't be household names. I'm sure if either one of us were in Hogan's shoes, we'd be the same damn way. Goldberg got a big head and started thinking he was legit the toughest guy in the locker room, and that just wasn't true. Chris Jericho kicked his ass lol.

I also heard this from a lot of wrestlers (in interviews of course). I watch a lot of interviews/shoots on TH-cam and when Bobby is the topic of discussion he is always commended on how careful he was with his opponents in the ring...even while performing a high risk move! Imagine, leaving your body/life in the hands of another man who can literally break your bones with his bare hands...I couldn’t do it but apparently he was that good that others loved to work with him because they knew they were safe.

Hearing the news of Bobby’s passing has shaken me up a bit (also died on the same day as my father 5 years ago). Major wrestling fan as a child and Eaton was an influential part of that. I remember him soaring through the air like Superman delivering his Alabama Jam, him winning the WCW tv title in ‘91 from Arn Anderson, many times tag champion with arn after that, Dangerous Alliance run, Blue Bloods; Bobby was a master craftsman who, as the speaker notes, never had to talk. He let his performance speak for him. This is rare. Especially admired Eaton for pushing on regardless if he was a jobber, winner, face, heel-never complaining. His death hurt me too because he brought me and my dad closer.
Bobby Eaton thank you for enriching my childhood. I pray you experience eternal happiness and peace in God’s arms and peace, strength for your family.
Rest In Peace BobbyEaton. You are a gift and we love you. 🌸 ❤️

Of course Dave couldnt just say he was in the best tag team ever. Had to cut it off as his anointed Young Bucks are always #1 in his heart.

I mean, its a fair point. He said the Midnight was the best during their generation, but like with any sport, the industry changes.
We can't tell how someone would do 40 years after/before their prime - its not fair to The Midnight nor is it fair for teams today (or before).

Back in that ERA. We were blessed with great tag teams. Rock N Express. Horsemen, Road Warriors, Steiner's, Freebirds. Never be duplicated again.

Yup!! He would have better opponents to work with today. I guess the Young Bucks are better than the Road Warriors, the Fantastics, the rock and roll Express, Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson, and many others

I used to joke that Bobby was the Kevin Bacon of professional wrestling. You could link ANYONE to Bobby within 2 or 3 degrees of freedom. Think about it; he tagged with George Gulas, Koko Ware, Dennis Condrey, Stan Lane, Arn Anderson, Steve/William Regal, Steve Keirn, and a countless number of ad hoc teammates over the years, and when you add his opponents, he probably had a link to almost every star of the post-war era.
