My God! Gershwin is smiling down from heaven!!! I love this song. You can almost feel the summer heat and hear the grasshoppers singing and the sense of just laying around enjoying it all. Wow!
My sweet cat Thistle died one month ago. Too young. Just 6 years old. In the summertime. She genuinely loved music. Whatever I played. On whatever instrument or speaker, she was there. Yes was no exception. Nor was jazz. I need this right now more than anything. Thank you, Rick. Thank you more than you can know.
He's really good I agree 👍 (Although I admit, haven't heard much from him) - right after Tony Banks - who I think is master of the keys (but there's enough space on the keys for both of them) 😁
I always told everyone that, a musician is not who I am but •what• I am. Music is in my cells, my DNA! Then came... "Inbuilt into human form A symphony of sight & sound Life direction in music found Or left to die unborn" It's what I've been saying all along! I was blown away. Rick...and Keith changed my life.
I remember seeing Rick during his farewell tour with Yes at the San Diego Sports Arena way back in the 70's - holding up my Bic lighter at the end of each song. where did the time go?
Loved this so much on first hearing I went straight to my piano and learnt it " a la Rick " , now working on the others. Fabulous musical interpreatation by RW.
Whether it's with all the synth embellishments, or on a grand piano this is still a fantastic piece of music. Got to see him a couple weeks ago doing his solo music/comedy show. He didn't do this song, but he did play Sea Horses which was equally a thrill for me. Hopefully he'll tour again soon, I'd most definitely go see him again.
One of my favourite all time songs it is so well written difficult to do a bad version . Until this version, that made me melt it's so beautiful, Larry addlers harmonica performance on Parkinson years ago was my favourite. Loved this. Thank you. Will stay with me in the same way.
I love his rendition of this piece on the album Rhapsodies, it positively smokes with the atmospheric vibe of a musician at the very top of his game, rendering a true classic. This version whilst quite nice does not quite hit the peaks of that version. lovely all the same.
I agree. And what a fantastic album Rhapsodies is. I bought the double LP at a teenager in the late 70s and played the hell out of it. It was such a departure from Yes, and while it has a bit of a disco flair on many songs, others definitely hold up 45 years alter.
as a youngster i too like jimmy page haere used to play the tin whistle, only i was good at it, i once earned a quid or two down stepney playing to passers by, i bet he wishes he could aspire to my level of ability, if he asked nicely i could give him a few pointers, like always blow don't suck, the sound is much better, there that'll be ten quid please mate... paypal will do, payable to riger the bragger and busker dave's mate... nice . also if he needs a decent hair cut, my girlfriend can do a bang up job for a bag of chips and a six pack of ace larger, cos really the mop top hair style has had its day and is all great if your a pop star like benny twiggs, who performs down our local youth club, he can get away with these modern outlandish styles, but really mate you have to smell the roses eventually, only a few of us make it to such dazzling heights as hackney youth club on saturdays and wednesdays, the rest of us have to face upto grim reality and get a decent haircut you may need to get a job meantime like a clippie on the busses, and you cant have a strange modern haircut then. no i suggest a simple n02 crew cut, maybe get a tattoo , i don't know a heart with mum inside, take care you dont choose dad its a bit poofy a love heart on a man saying "Dad " unless you want the world to think your a accursed shirt lifter. be warned (in my youth i stupidly got, "Insert penis up here" and an arrow pointing at my Arse, a simple error any pissed up lad could make , Anyway in a nutshell, you will have to admit you are a talentless would be shirt lifter, unless you happen to be someone like Rick Wakeman now he can juggle and ride a unicycle clearly a talented man, you won't see him with that sort of hairdo. well its a fact you see...LMFAO seriously i jest i love and admire rick wakeman and all talented creative souls, yes even you (the reader)

There will never be another Rick Wakeman. Fortunately, one keyboard/pianist is enough for us to marvel at and enjoy.
My God! Gershwin is smiling down from heaven!!!

Have you heard this version of Summertime? Extremely good I thought: th-cam.com/video/5HMBniu9Evg/w-d-xo.html
Ricks really mellowed since being in Yes, well he was the greatest rock keyboard player ever

Nice tribute to your feline friend 👍
A consummate musician. His skill has always been amazing.
Thank you so very much Rick for all your music for all these years ❤
Rick rules the world of the piano
Thank you for exsisting Mr Rick Wakeman!!!
WHY ISN'T THIS PLAYED ON CLASSIC FM????
MY MENTOR! ONE OF THE GREATEST PIAINISTS, KEYBOOARD PLAYERS ON EARTH !!!!
Wakeman is a master on the keys!

Rick Wakeman THE FINGERS. THE MASTER. FOREVER YES!!!🎹
Going to his solo concert Oct 17th in St Paul. Will be intimate and wonderful. Looking forward to it!
A real master at work .......... gorgeous rendition of this great tune!
My god, he is sooooo good!, would have loved to have met him.
I remember seeing Rick during his farewell tour with Yes at the San Diego Sports Arena way back in the 70's - holding up my Bic lighter at the end of each song. where did the time go?
Saw him in concert in Glasgow a month ago.
He's still got it.
It reminds me of the version in 1979s Rhapsodies album, which is awesome. I'm glad he played this classic again.
beautiful.....Thanks, Rick
Mr Wakeman is the grand wizard of keyboards ❤
💞
Great for my parents..great for me
Effortless skill...due to years and years of dedication and practice. Beautiful tone from the piano, too.
Johann, Ludwig, Wolfgang, Rick ...and many many others enlightened. Great Masters!
Good music - is just that.
BRILLIANT 👏 👏 👏 👏
Interesting to hear how he's changed it from the original album version
Never thought I'd hear Rick play George Gershwin.
He played a version of this on his album Rhapsodies back in 1979
He should have been the man in the Guiness advert!
Loved this so much on first hearing I went straight to my piano and learnt it " a la Rick " , now working on the others. Fabulous musical interpreatation by RW.
The King!!!!!
Rick Wakeman's usual brilliant, sweet style. Thanks for a ton of musical memories old son.

What beautiful rendition. I'd love to sing to this. Of course I would get lost listening to the extras Rick plays.
Sweet. I love this song. ✌️🙃🎄☃️
Bravo! Bravissimo! Superb! Master of keyboards!

Rick, do you ever play Dave Brubeck tunes?

Gorgeous interpretation. Beautiful. Thank you.
Rick has a unique way of playing and a musicality that few classic pianists have.
he could play a bit of classic music as well
He has done Claire de Lune. Too fluffy? It's good for me.
Cuando la voz no es necesaria. Grande, Rick. YES!!!
el mejor tecladista de todos los tiempos!!!!!

Sei fantastico Rick! 💞🌷❣

Love this!
fantastic.
Love!!!! is the King interne Ton!!!!!
This version has a completely different personality than the one on "Rhapsodies."
Wakeman он и в Африке .... !
Amazing ☺ 🍁
Why can't I get Rick to play in my band?
This is more like it. I think Rick's style is better suited to jazz standards than classical pieces. :)
no one ever said you were smart...or musical
хорошо
Maria Sotskova leads me here.

It's a shame he hasn't mastered any other keyboards. Oh wait he has. Never mind.
de quien es la version original de este tema?
George Gershwin
If jazz existed in the 18th century...

This is why he was asked to join both Yes and the Spiders from Mars on the same day.
