FILM DESCRIPTION:
At an Army barracks in Hawaii in the days preceding the attack on Pearl Harbor, lone-wolf soldier and boxing champion "Prew" Prewitt (Montgomery Clift) refuses to box, preferring to play the bugle instead. Hard-hearted Capt. Holmes (Philip Ober) subjects Prew to a grueling series of punishments while, unknown to Holmes, the gruff but fair Sgt. Warden (Burt Lancaster) engages in a clandestine affair with the captain's mistreated wife (Deborah Kerr).

These two had TERRIFIC chemistry, and Ms. Reed deserved her Oscar. Too bad Monty couldn’t have won as well, but not mad at William Holden winning for “Stalag 17”, another one of my favorite movies. The 1950s were lit for cinema.
Monty was never to get an Oscar. He was not a dupe, studio player. What's so great about an award that was created to ingratiate themselves, the studios, producers? It's opportunistic not ennobling.

This is one of the missing points forward in the movie. Here she says that her name is Alma, but Prewitt keeps calling her Loren anyway lmao 😂
The novel was more steamy!

Monty did his part in the movie and more. Monty, Frank and James Jones were inseparable during production. Frank's movie career was on the skids and he accepted minimum wage. Frank won the oscar with help from Monty who served as his acting coach working with James Jones together. Another reason why Monty never got an oscar. If the producers knew about, why did Frank?
Most of the main characters were more stupid and awful though
