    I confirm, all in all, Morocco is an excellent choice as an expat or digital nomad. A gem you did not mention is the coastal town of Essaouira, roughly 100 miles north of Agadir. Many western hippies used to live there in the sixties, one of the celebrities amongst them back in those days was Jimi Hendrix, who enjoyed the city just the same as I do. Best regards from "Costa de la Luz".

      @@NomadElite My pleasure! The 2nd. hidden gem about 70 miles south-east of Tangiers is the city of Chefchaouen. Old hippie-town as well and still perfect for individualists, backpackers and people who simply have "good taste".

      @@NomadElite You won`t regret it. And if you like to visit the real Magreb-gem, go and visit Algeria. No begging, no hustling, no crime, no mass-tourism, hence as good as no pick-pockets. Almost as genuine as in "Kara-Ben-Nemsi-Effendi-times", back in the 19th century. Algeria is not only Algiers, Oran and Constantine, which is a very impressive City on your way east towards Tunesia. Also the deep south in the Sahara-desert is well worth to pay a visit. Cities like Ghardaia, El Golea or Tamanrasset you will never forget in your life. You will definitely find the most honest and hospitable people in Algeria. Exactly the opposite of the generally valid mainstream propaganda.

    I once lived in Kenitra. I had a nice apartment there while working 28 days in Nigeria and off 28 days in Morocco. I had the time of my life living there. It was friendly, safe, and affordable. At the time I was married to a Moroccan girl who I Americanized by bringing her to Las Vegas. The day our son was to be born, she left me for another man. She broke my heart and took all my money but that’s for another story. Now that I am 59 (next month), I am looking at places to retire. Currently I am in Houston, TX. and looking around for a better life to retire. Morocco keeps coming back to my number one spot to retire. Possibly someplace like Ifran would be nice. So now that I am no longer married to a Moroccan, what are the steps to making the move and obtaining a residency visa? What about purchasing an apartment (or villa), obtaining a mortgage, best way to ship over furniture, will they tax my stuff when I bring it in? I know, too many questions. Maybe ideas for other videos? Thanks and remember, Ramadan starts on the 22nd of this Month.

I am telling you this because we are moving to Morocco in two years. I’m in school getting my bachelors and we plan on opening business. But. Correction on criminal background. The U.S. Consulate does not offer this service. U.S. citizens are urged and guided, and it specifically states so, that an individual must independently contact the FBI or contact your particular State's crime bureau that has all records of which you were a resident. That means you need to get a record from every State that you resided in. Every state should have one. All policing authorities in the U.S. share this data, so what the FBI gets is likely what they get from your particular residency State's crime bureau. I don't even think the FBI even deals with every crime except major criminal activity. Searching on their website seems to deal with crimes involving cross-boarder ones such as drug trafficking, crimes against minors, firearms, etc..., but even so, the State crime bureau also has these including lesser felony crimes.

    • @NomadElite
      @NomadElite  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never said anything about the US, did I? Depending on your nationality, consulates might be able to assist with the issuance of a criminal record certificate.

    You mentioned that you can get your criminal history check at the consulate, Bute the consulate says otherwise in their website. So which is it? Here is the excerpt form theor website;
    Permanent Residence in Morocco
    U.S. citizens who wish to apply for long-term or permanent residence in Morocco should thoroughly research Moroccan residency requirements and have all the required documentation before coming to Morocco. The U.S. Consulate in Casablanca cannot assist U.S. citizens with fingerprinting, obtaining FBI background checks, copies of birth certificates, or police records.

      As salaamu alaikum, I am currently in Mohammedia and lived in Casablanca for sometime. Mohammedia is definitely where I've seen more African brothers and sisters. For example it was very scarce to find hair relaxer in Casablanca.. never found any but I find it easy here in Mohammedia. Why am I using that as proof? I believe because the market for it is huge in Mohammedia. It is also beautiful and very clean compared to Casablanca and the taxi drivers actually abide by the traffic laws here in Mohammedia as well as Rabat. Moroccans in general are very kind, they are Muslim people but it will be hard with the language barrier. But I think it will be a good move for your family. I am a content creator as well and plan to speak more about it in the future in shaa Allah.
