Omg that sky and the lighting with all the old textures! It's so surreal... It feels old and new at the same time. I think back and somtimes this game (the island itself) feels like a fever dream, but I know it's all real. And even watching this video with the high quality lighting, it still feels surreal, but in a completely new way with the glass distortions and motion blur. It's almost like my kid brain either ignored those details, or filled them in.
@@Andrew90046zero Hahah thank you! LEGO Island is one of those games were if you change the textures, it starts to lose its character. So that’s why they are still there. 😁
this is quite well-done. The idea to combine a 360 video with a scavenger hunt is quite unique. I only saw the reubs video yesterday so your timing turned out pretty great for me. Definitely a work to be proud of!
Awesome, thank you so much! I thought looking for the helicopter pieces is accurate to the game's story and also a motivation to look around and make use of the 360. 😁
This makes me wish there was more Lego stuff in VRChat. Like I saw a video of a VRChat map of L1 and i've seen VRChat models of the characters from Ninjago and Monkie Kid. I know VRChat can get a bit crazy and sometimes rude like swearing and stuff but I don't care! I'd die of happiness to see Basil or Cedric in VRChat.
@@robonaught I’ve seen that video as well when researching this video. I have no experience with VRChat so I wasn’t sure if that was a similar video to this. But it’s a whole lot different. 😂
@@StudframeAnimations Trust me i've never done VRChat either (I don't even have a headset) but i've watched a ton of videos on them. Since they're are quite funny to watch. I've mainly watched Sonic and FNAF related ones.
Watching these in my computer was a super fun experience. However these 360 LEGO videos need to be re-rendered at a much higher frame rate for VR. I just watch both from a Meta Quest 3 headset and the experience was quite dizzying. The camera moves fastest in the LEGO Island 2 video and I watched that one second, so it made me the dizziest. However walking by close walls, like the mountain’s was probably the most jarring due to its proximity. Hope you’ve kept the original, because this deserves a cut with a higher frame rate.
@@Cuperino Thanks for letting me know! I don’t have a VR headset so I have no idea what the video is like on it. It plays well on the computer and mobile which is what I had in mind while making it. Would love to make it higher framerate. It’s possible, however the rendertime was already multiple days. Making it 60fps or even 90 fps would take forever. 😜
Fantastic VR video! I lost count how many pieces i found mt first time but safe to say i found most of the helicopter pieces. I kept tapping the screen trying to collect them - thats how immersed i was!
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it! Would be awesome if you could somehow collect them. The Brickster is still out there. Maybe you can find him too. 👀
This is amazing! The entire island looks so beautiful in HD and the buildings are all accurate to how they were in the original game I found 14 pieces btw
Thank you! Glad you noticed the animation style. I'm not used to animating that way. But it's fun. 😋 There are still more pieces and a Brickster out there. 👀
@@CaptainPlums Ohh right, I don’t have plans to release it to the public. But everything I’ve done here, you can do too. The island mesh is from the game itself, using an extractor. For the buildings: I built every building (apart from the Information Center, which I could find in the library) in Studio. There are some really good reference photos out there from other people who have built them. I just copied those. Good luck! 😁
@StudframeAnimations Blender is what I use lol. I'm still new to it, but I've passed the donut tutorial (which is now my incoming call wallpaper lol) and gotten to the point I can make simple models for my games :D

I remember putting a tiny two megapixel digital camera on a tripod and filming the computer screen back in 2006 playing Lego Island on PC, we've come a long damn ways.
I used it because as far as I know the skateboard used in-game doesn't exist in real life. And because all the buildings/vehicles are made using actual Lego pieces, I thought it would be best to use an existing skateboard as well. But I do agree with you that the in-game skateboard looks beter! 😁
I LOVE the idea of combining a 360° video with this brick hunt! It's so cool!
Thank you do much! I’m happy that you liked it! 😁
I’m amazed that people are still doing cool things with this classic game in 2024
