- This week, Cynthia is heading to Cotswolds to help Daphne, 75, who has lost control of the clutter in the cottage she has lived in for the last 46 years! Daphne, who shares her house with otters, is a hoarder and has been acquiring for years and storing everything in every room of her house. We also follow Claire, who travels to Surrey, to help Suzie and Phil and their five kids. Neither parent feels they can cope with both their kids and cleaning so Claire is here to save the day!

I love how the show makes it seem weird to wash your produce in vinegar 😭 like uhhh pesticides? Preservatives? You need more than water 😂

Yush I only wipe my dog’s feet in mild watered down antibacterial soup. And give him a light wash if gets dirty from light mud splashes. And only bathe him outside with a bucket and doggy cloth when he’s super dirty

It’s not fair on the dogs at all especially, if she’s shampooing them as well.
In the video I thought I heard her say she washes their feet & snout. She could do this with wash cloths.
You can actually feel Cynthia gritting her teeth when she walks into Daphne's house!
I would be interested on a study of how many people with severe ocd turned into an agoraphobe during and after Covid, I’d say it was a beyond stressful time
It depends on your type of OCD. I have it with tidying the house, I have to do it in a certain order and I have to have switches all the same way plus check the door is locked every time I walk past. I’ve never been OCD about germs so couldn’t have cared less about Covid. Those who are germaphobes probably struggled a lot though.

Omg just watching the kids laze around with zero energy is WILD. They need to learn from example though so it’s a lot of the parents fault too
Some kitchen stuff can be so out of date it can be donated to a museum (for the old packaging).
Cynthia's right - people keep too much food and it goes off - it's a waste- you're not "saving and using". It's not valuable food.
I was happy to see the children involved and being good sports in the end.

Their immune systems must be pretty compromised with no exposure to germs, and ones that are resistant to all this 'sterilizing' breed up like crazy and things are far worse. Finding the happy medium seems to be a huge challenge.
Tough love for stuff like this is a good thing. I myself need to tell me all the time: "It's OLD, you dont need it cause u never used it for a year!"
Otherwise i would drown in clutter

cynthia cleans her dogs paws but then walk in her home with her outside shoes on... ocd is a hella of a beast, it mostly makes no rational sense
I have house flip-flops that I wear only in the house. I'm surprised she doesn't have a pair of those.

I know someone who has a 3 -year-old baby who always gets sick, and her pediatrician noticed how they are always in the doctor. The mother was shocked when the doctor told her to put her child down on the hospital's floor and let her crawl and walk. She asked why? The doctor answered "she lacks germs, that's why she gets sick easily." HAHAHA Idk but this story still makes me think being super clean leads to being so sensitive and prone to allergies HAHAA
that's true! they need bacteria to build a strong immune system
only thing i wonder, why are those OCD people, always wearing Shoes inside THEIR own homes? arent you supposed to take em off when u enter? Doesnt wearing shoes inside defeat the whole purpose of cleaning? xd
Yes it s bizarre, for me the first thing is to take off your shoes. It s disgusting.
I assume they're house shoes or they're wearing shoes solely because it's TV. Because the fact the first woman cleans her dog's paws after taking them for a walk, I assume she's aware that her shoes would be the same
Selective OCD
OCD can definitely be selective. My husband is OCD cleaning but some things don’t worry him!
Also Claire was stood on her draining board where clean dishes go, with SHOES ON! Imagine all the germs from the bottoms of your shoes being where your clean dishes that you eat off go. 🫣
I say this everytime but I do wonder how Cynthia and those others on the show obsessed with cleaning in this way coped during the height of covid

@@Aurora-qn2dxYeah Lesley and Tuesday. I feel so horrible for them. They've been on a couple of documentaries explaining the severity of their OCD, and how it's torturing them deeply. It's very very sad, and I think their cleaning habits get sort of glorified on this program. Just my opinion.
She's killing herself on all those meds and cleaning products and prolly now been vaccine up to the eye balls.

@@alex506d I think the mother worsens the daughters ocd and mental health. I really think the daughter suffers more than she should.
During the height of covid? Probably a dream. Work from home that you can insure is cleaned to your standards, contactless delivery, etc etc.
However the years afterwards of the back and forth "it's safe now" and "just kidding no it's not" were probably the most stressful of their lives.

I don’t have ocd but I clean my house atleast 2-3 times a day everyday😂 My hubby has ocd tho..just not the “I have to clean” obsession.
The kid needs to help! Every one above the age of 8 and up can help clean up after themselves

Well I would love to know how Hayley deals with her own poo and how did she ever look after her kids when they were poopy babies and toddlers?

Washing the dogs every day is very bad for their skin. Even washing them once a week can be bad.
Wow that really peed me off him saying it’s not possible to have a tidy house with 5 kids. I managed it and despite it taking 4 hours a day (I have OCD too) while they were at school, it wasn’t impossible. If I wasn’t the type to wash down all the walls and woodwork at least once a month and iron everything then I could have done it with less. Them saying you can’t do it unless you tie the kids up is just an excuse. They’re lazy and allowed it to get that way and then use an excuse that it’s not possible with kids. When I had number 5 my eldest was 10 and the younger 4 were newborn, 2, 4 and 6. I used to make the beds, dust and hoover upstairs before the school run and do the downstairs when I got back. You can actually do it in 1-2 hrs a day at most if you keep on top of it. People just use their kids as an excuse to not bother.
so why didn't the opera woman scrub some old man's toilet. This was the worst one for watching a lazy helper.

I always clean my produce. A vinegar rinse is a good way to do it. You’d be surprised how much dirt and other nasty things are on your fruits and veggies
So what was the point of all those people bringing their dogs with them to clean up dog poo 💩 when all their dogs will just replace what they pick up 😂😂

Cynthia's voice is very flat and uninspiring, as is her house. There"s no sign of enjoyable activities. I bet that shiny piano isn't played. It's just for looks. Whereas Daphne's voice has a musical quality to it and her life is full of love for her otters and her family. I really notice voices and I believe they are a reflection of our lives.
It's ok getting these ocd people to help others but it seems like they are trying to force their own ocd problems on other people which isn't fair, and everyone is entitled to live how they want
Agreed, they mean well but their own way of doing things is extreme
The idea is that they're extreme ends of the scale. To see that the messy ones could be better, and the ocd ones could lay off a bit and not die, or whatever their irrational fear is

And all those animals and just licking the tap and licking themselves on the beds and stuff disgusting.

The really sad part is that they are not teaching their children and through no fault of their own they will face a lot of problems in their life because of lazy ass parents. No need to produce 5 kids if this is how they will grow up.....

Imagine that you absolutely cannot leave your house before you've sterilized it from top to toe. It destroys relationships and people's quality of life. Because they constantly fear contamination, even though it's absolutely clean and spotless, and there's not way they're gonna get contaminated. It's awful. That's just one form of OCD, there are thousands. I've got OCD, but not in this form and near this severity at all.
