- After the wettest Xmas I can remember the rain eventually stopped on the first official day of low flying in 2024. It was a perfect opportunity for a walk up the hills with my camera gear. We had a variety of aircraft pay us a visit.

HAPPY 2024 ALL!! - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
With the F35, it’s not just wing fluff, it’s whole-jet fluff. Such an impressive airframe on so many levels.
Too many r o t c memories to count
That “Hi Mom” sign makes me laugh every time. I’d love to make it there someday and fly the Colorado flag. It’s where the Air Force Academy is. They would recognize it. We are very proud of it.
We love to see flags displayed in the cockpit. I’ve seen many university flags along with stars n strips and many more 👍
Now THIS is how we get out of the gate! Ripping, roaring, and running The Loop! May not have been a picture-perfect day, but you made it work AND got some great wing vortices and vapor clouds to boot! I really enjoyed this. Thank you for your efforts and this post.
Appreciate you watching it. It was a fun day! ✈️💨✈️💨👍
The vapor trails are insane...jeeesch
The sound of the F-35 is so recognizable to because i grew up next to PAX river Maryland where they did the testing of the B and C and they flew over my house quite a bit. Must admit i kind of miss it. Great video, love the work keep it up 👍
Sound like my kind of place to live ✈️✈️😁. Thanks for watching 👍
Amazing start to 2024! Incredible shots of some awesome aircraft 😎
Many thanks Tim. Have a great 2024!
I always love watching real life examples of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
I used to attend airshows years ago, but this would be a rush on another level. Great job!
Happy you enjoyed it Chris.
Thanks for watching.
Lucky with the visibility for the first day’s flying! Sound of propellers - v - jets is like hearing steam trains - v - diesel: kind of sentimental 😊
🤩 taaaak to je paraaaada, první týden v novém roce a super THX
Thank you, happy new year.
Amazing shots and so dramatic, many thanks Dafydd... I remember having just topped out from climbing the Watkin Path on Snowdon in 2019, hearing a huge aircraft coming towards me from the North West. Looking up to see the magnificent Boeing C-17 Globe master. It was so low, a site i shall never forget.
Thank you Martin and I do love to hear of everyone’s individual experiences getting buzzed by aircraft ✈️✈️👍
......... .
Jesus... .
The first 18 seconds 😮😮
Luv them surround mist shots in full flight.💯💥
WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! appreciate the wide view of folks taking pics, so focused, so serious. but that one lady, jumping and wavin, love it! wish i could be there too. thanks for the work.
Thank you and appreciate you watching the vids. The lady waving was here visiting with here family from California. I think she likes jets! ✈️✈️🤠
I was one of the serious….ish photographers still jumping like a little child inside. A great day with many passes a good way to start the year in the mountains
Loved it

Great video and photos. I must get up to cad west one day. I have done cad east 3 times. Was that all in one day? Looks like they were blowing the cobwebs off after the Christmas break.

Happy New Year Dafydd - Fabulous shots as usual- Wot no snow? You've got life way too easy😄
Thank you and have a great 2024 also! Word is that we may have a sprinkling of snow over the next couple of weeks ☃️. Life is good 👍🤠
Thank you 👍
You are welcome
Thanks for watching
Brilliant. Thanks. That's whetted my appetite to visit again. My last visit was just before covid I stayed in dollgelau for 5 days and unfortunately had 3 days on the trot of no show. Couldn't belive it when I started driving home to Ramsgate I could hear the roar of the jets. Gutted. Must try to get back 2024.
Many thanks for watching David. That’s typical of the Mach loop. I had a friend fly over from America a few years back and all week he saw two hawks and a chinook. Other times it can be great.
Wow, what a way to start out the new year. Looks like the pilots were as excited as the photographers, they really got after it. Once again, two of the finest in the world, amazing pilots and the best photographers in the world.
Many thanks Brian, happy 2024 ✈️
I’m surprised to not see any F-15s but eitherway I love the Mach Loop the fighters (and others) against that scenic backdrop is fascinating.
Happy you enjoyed it, thanks for watching
Thank you.
You're welcome!

0:15 'The Fluff is strong on this one!'
as an army aviation veteran I approve of this 😁😁😁👌🏾
Many thanks 👍
I really enjoy your videos. It would be interesting if you put a time stamp in a corner of the frame, so we could see how much time these passes take to complete. Thanks.
3:30 standing on a ladder when the planes are below you lol
YOUR CHANNEL IS THE BEST!!!!!! IN SIGHTS AND SOUNDS!!!! AND YOU CAN'T BE BEAT!!! LISTEN TO ALL OF THAT MARVELOUS AND GLORIOUS THUNDER CUTTING UP DOWN AND AROUND IN THAT MOUNTAIN PASS!!
AAUUUUGGGGUUUAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!! 😊
@@DafyddPhillips NNOOOoooo, THANK YOU DafyddPhillips!!!
🙂 😀 😃 😆 😄 😁 ☺️. 😊 🙂
So badass…best job in the world.
Indeed 👍
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
❤❤❤❤❤
Fab video as always, mainly a Wednesday training I think?
Thanks Jeremy. This was Thursday this week 👍
Its great to see the RAF F-35b's finally making more regular appearances at the loop. Thanks for filming them Dafydd. 👍
How can you tell? The star?
It’s been a long five years of waiting.
Thanks for watching ✈️👍
@@devinjonathan5681 If you freeze the video frame as the F-35 banks towards the camera at 2:55, there is the RAF Roundel on the wing rather than a USAF star, but you can also see the large closed door for the lift fan intake behind the cockpit. The USAF F-35's don't fly the STOVL version so don't have that feature. 👍
@@Pesmog spot on 🎓👍
They were USAF F-35b's. Note the star on the wings as opposed to a roundel
Lovely vids, thanks for posting. I always think the Hawks look the sportiest going through, but for sheer grace and power it has to be the F15. Oh, and I do miss the Tornado....
2024 and Fat Amy has more new lipstick caked on. To each their own in this subjective world of avionics appreciation. Of the modern era planes I've encountered, I'm not taken aback with Amy as with others.
I was on a flat top in the 80s fastest F-4 ,A-7 crew there's were. Then someone will F-8 would win! My Responce would be. WHO CARES MY A-6s would drop bombs all day,and they wouldn't be able to get off the flight deck. I really appreciate you sharing our videos with us.
Thanks for watching them 👍
Gracias
Thank you. Gracias
💯
Thank you
Amazing 😍. Could i ask where this fine spot is please im working away in mac next week would love to go soak it all up. Been to mac loop many times but never seen the jets up this close
Looks great!
Any tips on which days will be busiest for air traffic this month?
There is no busy day but keep an eye on the notams and this should give you an idea if they are using the airspace. It’s no guarantee but some patterns do emerge. Be prepared for long days with no planes and just enjoy the scenery.
Good luck! ✈️👍🤞
Baaaaangin!!
Funny noise for the "First Cuckoos of Spring"
Make our day , Iran
Ou crazy
Hey Dafydd, amazing footage! Just wondering how you know what days the jets will be flying? I saw the UK gov has an RAF training timetable online but apparently it can’t really be relied upon with weather etc. Looking to head up to central Wales sometime in summer. Many thanks
Thanks Sophie, it’s just case of ignoring the timetable and just turn up. It may help to keep An eye on the notams from the beginning of the week and keep an eye on any patterns that occur. Some squadrons may concentrate on low level for any given periods. Just hope they come to wales instead of the Lake District or Scotland. ✈️✈️🙏
I didn't realise there were official days, as such, and that it was always luck of the draw. I'd love to climb up to the photography spots but am always worried about wasting a 4h drive (each way!).
The official days are Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays. Yes there always the risk of turning up and nothing flying. If I made a live video then people would fall asleep waiting in between passes. Sometime even days.

Best thing to do is book a B&B for two nights and go for a midweek Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
8 hours driving in a day is too much, I drive two hours from Wolverhampton and back again to spend around 8-9 hours on the hills.
You need to stay overnight to fully appreciate it if you live that far away.
Where is this? I am assuming somewhere in whales?
I would like to know as well where is this
Awesome - where is this in Wales and how do I get there? Plus how do you know when they will be flying? Definitely need to see this ✈️
Fantastic to see may i ask is there away to find out wen there flying ..looking to go as never been and always wanted to try
Happy you enjoyed it. The only thing to do is turn up on a weekday and hope the jets do also, a bit like fishing. A great buzz when they come around the corner ✈️👍
I have to do experience this one day. ❤ Where is it again ??? P.S Amazing Photos. :)
It certainly is!! It’s the Mach loop, wales. Thanks for watching !
