A chain gun is a type of autocannon or machine gun that uses an external source of power to cycle the weapon's action, rather than diverting excess energy
When the bolt is in the back. Ready to feed a new round in i think. A lot of machine gun use this concept as it prevent cook off when the round is in the chamber and the gun barrel is hot.
Oh damn I should be able to tell you this off the top of my head, but I can't remember. It'd be cheating if I looked, but I want to say at "feeding", and if the other commenter said with the bolt block all the way back, I think that's where it is at feeding. Pisses me off that I can't tell you for sure. I really am getting old I guess.
It stops after extract, in the "sear" arc on the bolt position indicator. The 25mm M242 Bushmaster and 30mm bushmaster II chainguns (just a scaled up M242) will stop at the same spot because they have a sequencer that runs the motor for a specified amount of time and thus rotations. Not a sensor. Which is why you have to "time" (manually crank the chain all the way around until the BPI reads "sear" again) the gun if you've removed the track and bolt assembly of have lost turret power mid shot. Because otherwise you might end up leaving a round in contact with the hot part of the barrel when it's supposed to be in "sear", out of the chamber. Cookoff of an HEI round in the tin can you're sitting in? No thanks. Love me an M242: the operation, care and feeding of them is something you get drilled into you mercilessly (if there's *any* possibility you could be firing one) so you don't blow yourself and crew up.
Not when this is between you and someone/something that wants to unalive you. This is salvation, not madness. But yeah, we've become quite efficient at doing all manner of brutal (non-consensual) things to one another.
There's a deal on the bottom that catches the firing pin allowing the firing pin to be held back as the bolt closes and released to snap forwards when it *is* finally closed. 90° of rotation and it'll cycle rounds (including live rounds) but won't pop primers.
Its a bad bitch but it will jam on you every now and then, depends on conditions and the amount of rounds its fired. It screwed up anything I pointed it at lol.

@@Tordu_Génial Hey that's not very fair, we have a lot of respect for France. I'd like a smaller version for concealed carry.
@@gaveintothedarkness they have a 25mm version. Smaller.. and still pretty spicy.
Also the buttstock has to be at least 7ft or its an sbc
So.....OK for duck!?
If it loses electrical power. It's functioning cycle is exactly the same though.
Such satisfying mechanical noises
So this is how it operates with new links and feeders. Great video.
Thank you.

I need one installed on my Passat perhaps in a luggage pod on the roof
Wait so theirs a literal chain in a chain gun? I'm honestly not sure what i expected.
I thought it was called a chain gun because it was belt fed...
@@rrueps4844 No, look at the bottom of the video, theirs a chain controlling the motion of the bolt, feeding mechanism and delinker.
It's also driven by a motor

Sure is!!!!
That’s funny, they call me the Bush Master too.

I used to do engine sections for training, same way 1980. Best way to explain workings
This video is very informative. It displays the whole thing working in mechanical slow motion.
what kind of holster would you recommand for conceal carry ?

I wonder if a hand crank will work for EDC with this. Asking for a friend...
Having been an M2 BIFV gunner, I'm very familiar with the Bushmaster M242 chain gun, the 25MM version of this weapon...
"you getting this video?"
"yeah, we'll have our people half-ass reverse engineer it"
Is this going to be sufficient for EDC? I'm a bit concerned about the stopping power...
considering that its a 30mm with either 113mm or 140mm of power behind it, i'm willing to bet that there will be nothing to stop
"Careful, do not let it overcharge!"
"Overcharge? What do you me-"
I assume the gun stops at a specific step in the cycle when the trigger is released? If so, which one?
The mechanism does not stop as it would typically be driven by an electric motor
@@spazmonkey2131 unless the gun is supposed to fire indefinitely regardless of input, it has to stop at some point.

Now available at your local Walmart.
our local Walmart is even locking up child's toy guns they'd never have this.
The feed chutes used to get bent up. That was the biggest problem.

It's the eco low emissions version with re-usable ammo.
Perfect for Home defence according to the 2nd ammendment in US

Can Ford make this an option for their new Super Duty trucks?
