Thanks! I'm not sure if I have ever sent you a thanks before. Your videos are so informative, it seems wrong to not at least buy you a pint. Keep up the great information.
I've used a bench vise sometimes instead of a press if the parts aren't too bid or vise is too small. A very large C clamp too will work in a pinch sometimes. A press is definitely preferable.
Maybe I missed it, didn't see any earth wire in the mains cable. And given the exposed metal and contact with armature bearings, wouldn't an earth be mandatory ?
Another brilliant video Dean. Quick question i have is what do you think of the Bosch GHO 26-82D planer. Mine has had issues with sticking brushes due to them being swollen. Its the second set to have done it as well. Not sure what would have caused that as the machine is used lightly and brushes were both fresh
@BertGraef thank you. I just couldn't believe it happened to brand new brushes only been in there about 2 weeks. I didn't think to do that because they were sliding fine to start with.
1st off.... when you spun that pully, connected to the blade drum (6:15), I couldn't help the very nervous laugh that came out 😅 The other thing is that I was just wondering if there was space in that hight nob to switch the nut for a lock nut? I'm definitely not thinking that you could do that instead of changing the bearings, I was just wondering if it's something you could do if you always use the same setting and don't want it moving if you catch it on something like an electric cable that has enough friction to move the nob? 🤔
Are Metabo and HiKOKI the same company? Parent Company Ownership: Metabo and HiKOKI are indeed owned by the same parent company, Koki Holdings Co., Ltd. This conglomerate also owns other brands such as Metabo HPT, CARAT, and Sankyo Diamond.
@@darylhudson777 What's your point? Just because the same company owns them does not mean the tools are just rebadged. Metabo and Hikoki are not the same.
@@markusdd5 Hikoki got whole article on their website about Metabo and Hikoki. TL;DR no they are not the same company or rebrand for different market For example AEG in Europe is a rebranded Ridgid.
Dean ,I managed to pick up a brand new old stock Dewalt planer for cheap these things are still £450.00 new, only problem is its 240volt, how can I change it to 110v, is it just the armature or also the field??
You know I would love to see a chart with all the different bearings in different columns listing their outside and inside diameters and the height and other specs.
Since I'm an American and not familiar with all the Irish terms I noticed that you say " LA " at the end of some words sort of like an American would say okay after things but I'm not sure if it means the same thing
I have an older Hitachi 110 plane that cuts out while running. I'm taking it apart this weekend after watching this. Cheers.
I wish you the best of luck with that project!!😊
Thanks for showing how to correctly install new bearings using the deep sockets. So many tubers bash all over the bearing with a hammer. Very cringe.

Awesome, thank you so much!
Always wondered about those lighter green Hitachi-Koki models 👍
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Dean 🦘
Brilliant as always 👌🧘♂️🚴
Could you use a nyloc nut on the depth adjuster instead of a plain nut
Thanks as usual Dean!!!!
Well executed teardown and rebuild
Another great video, thank you very much. 👍
Could the nut in knob be swapped for a nylon lock nut?
Yes, this would stop from coming loose
Nice job Dean.

Nice job as usual
It like a new machine a true professional
Great work! Would it have been possible to "zero out" the depth adjust knob as it didnt have a detent?
Another reason to buy Hikoki 👌🏻
very good, but would you consider changing the fuse in the new plug top from 13amp to suit the power rating of the tool?
Maybe I missed it, didn't see any earth wire in the mains cable.

Hitachi created a nicely serviceable design. But then you do make it all look easy. I'm sure to make a mess of it and take much longer.
Nice job...as usual! :)

Not sure, could be something to do with where it's stored
sand the sides down so they wont stick in thier cages.

you probably could, but it might make it very hard to adjust and would probably cause the knob to brake with the extra force

You would have to change the armature and field.
Why not just change the plug to a 240V and 20 amp outlet. If you don't have a 240V outlet it's a simple wiring job.
We don’t see that very often in usa , a fuse in a plug! (220v!)
👍
What do you call the little metal stuff you put at the end of the leads
Boot lace ferrals. You get them insulated and non insulated.
