It is funny that you reviewed this today. I was just looking at it today for my living room PC and saved it in my wish list look for reviews. You read my mind!
I watched this video twice. Once to see if I wanted this keyboard, and twice to see what the name of the software is after I recieve the keyboard. Thanks a bunch!
hey Lon, great info as unusual, not sure you mentioned, but both k400 and k400 plus include the "Unifing Bluetooth Dongle" which work on "ANY" LOGITECH Bluetooth unit. (so you can use multi mice keyboards, etc at same time). we use 2nd dongle in TV, as well as Nvidia Shield TV in same room or with 35 ft..nice perk, yes? Not to mention the dongle is about $13 purchased separately. So almost like getting keyboard/Mouse for $7. haha..
hey Tdot. was woderingif u can help me troubleshoot with this keyboard. when i go into search bar to type , my keys dont work. i tried on my mac and works fine so i dont know whats wrong. Any hel would be much appreciated!.Thanks!
Nice review mate. Just one question though will the gestures in macbook touchpad ie three finger swipe to switch desktops etc work on this keyboard touchpad?
Hi there! I'm also here looking for this info, but havent found an answer yet :( If you know this, please tell me about it. (Or even if you've found another model that accepts mac gestures)
Works fine on Chrome OS as well. At least the k400 does so I assume this would as well. There's even a Chrome app to change assignments on the logitech unifying dongles. I wonder what the difference is between this and the original k400. This appears to be missing a few buttons and thankfully that horrible graphical pattern on the track pad.
I own one of those separate logitech keyboard and mouse that uses one dongle. I sometimes forget to turn off the switches on them when not in use. Would I be wasting the battery life faster. if leaving it always on?
I think these things are potentially handy for travel. I got a very thin and light Amazon Basics Bluetooth Keyboard, but unfortunately no trackpad, which is very limiting if used with a Windows tablet (cursor precision with fingertip on a 7" or 8" tablet is pretty miserable).
Hey Lon, I don't know about the K400 Plus but on the last gen K400 you could disable the trackpad clicking on the keyboard itself by pressing Function + Left Click. Its the first thing i do every time i turn it on!
It is for your protection. The dongle is more secure. If you use a blootooth keyboard a hacker in your vicinity could replicate what you are entering in your computer. A dongle makes it much more difficult.
Can the Logitech K4000 PLUS Wireless Keyboard be directly connected to the UA40K5000AK model Samsung TV or the Logitech K4000 PLUS Wireless Keyboard be connected to the UA40K5000AK model Samsung TV only via PC?
I got 2 questions: 1) Is the touchpad compatible with the special Windows 10 trackpad gestures? Can you show open apps when you swipe up with 3 fingers? 2) Is it backlit? In case its not compatible with Win 10 gestures and not backlit, can you suggest a keyboard that is?
The K400+ only hits $20 around xmas season. Need to change or delete the $20 price, can not be found anywhere for that price. I picked mine up for a little under $20 last season.
hello, Lon. or whoever have the keyboard already. can someon testify how's the noise of the keys? is it loud? my concern is i work graveyard and our room is just small so I want a cheap but quiet keyboard. thanks
Peculiar Behavior: 1. The SetPoint software does not recognize this keyboard. It states it requires "Options" software to work. I clicked the link, and it installed it. Now you must go through the SetPoint software, which brings you to the same dialog every time that states there is new software available to download with a link. However, there is no new software to download. The link to "Options" is there, and if you click it, it brings you to the options for the K400 Plus. There is a check box to hide the dialog, but if you were to do that, you would not be able to access "Options" anymore. 2. When you click the Options link, you can set the behavior of the option keys. However, setting the pointer speed there has no effect. I had to set the speed of my Dell M6600 trackpad to change the pointer speed on the K400 Plus touchpad.
+Jack T Other than that, the keyboard works ok. I also connected it to my LG TV that has WebOS 3.1. The keyboard works great for the browsing, but none of the other apps respond to keyboard input from it. You have to use the onscreen keyboard every time. The keyboard also doesn't work on any of the setup screens. I know this is not the fault of the keyboard, but it does indicate that for Home Theater, it is only useful for a HTPC.
Again, its incredible what we can buy for $20 US, we get so much of a service 24/7 from these gadgets. However, a fast food meal of $10 (with not even a desert or salad) can get us satisfied for only 2 - 4 hours at best, and we have to spend our hard earned cash on another meal(s) on the same day. And what about those pesky guys offering there lousy landscaping, shoveling snow... taking care of house pets when on vacation for $20 per hour or more. Humans in America have gone down stupid like.
Please don't buy this keyboard. I used it for 6-7 months and just today it died. :/ Edit: It turns out I was inserting the batteries incorrectly. Works well now :)
total garbage. The keys don't work. after exchanging three of them i brought the fourth one in, smashed it on the floor of the store, and left the pieces on the floor. Never buy one of these, just give the twenty bucks to charity. it won't work.
Ahh yes, make the employees that have nothing to do with the quality of the product (I've never had an issue with this one) clean up your mess. I bet they all had a good laugh at you when you left.
A thorough review of this keyboard. I would have liked to see you demonstrate that this can work across a room without delay
It is funny that you reviewed this today. I was just looking at it today for my living room PC and saved it in my wish list look for reviews. You read my mind!
I got the older version of this for $10 and I would say it's very worth it and I really like it a lot.
Just bought it via your affiliate link. Thanks for the review.

Brief yet excellent and informative review sir! Bonus points for showing us how to use the Logitech options software. Thanks!
Another great review Lon. I love your Channel, very professional.

this keyboard works with PS4 but cant get characters to run but everything else is good am I missing something?
well done, keep up your good work!
Thanks for this review!! As macbook user I will find it so useless but frustrated too if not being able to use the same on mac

You go Logitech. Making the rounds I see. I hope they stay very relevant.

Does the trackpad enable two-finger and three-finger swipe on MacBook? Thanks for the great review!
With Bluetooth almost standard in laptops today, why aren't all these wireless keyboards/mice BT? Why are they still using RF dongles?
Because this is only $20
BT would be even cheaper since they don't have to manufacture a dongle.
It is for your protection. The dongle is more secure. If you use a blootooth keyboard a hacker in your vicinity could replicate what you are entering in your computer. A dongle makes it much more difficult.
Can I put the dongle in my Samsung TV and control my TV & search you tube that way?
Hope you have a joyful Christmas and a good year in 2016.

Were is the power button to put computer to sleep like on the older version ?
Where is option to change language on it? Once connected buttons works but letters seems to be Czech or something similar
I got 2 questions:

it's not backlit but the k830 sounds like the keyboard your looking for and they should have support for all Windows gestures

Lon, would love to watch a review on the Logitech K120 keyboard and the Logitech MK238 since both are budget stuff!
I have this K400 Logitech keyboard but the touch pad is so sensitive that it renders the keyboard unusable ! how do I slow the touch pad down ?
If I tap using two fingers, will it do a right click?
once again great review too bad the apple tv doesn't work with keyboards(yet) that would be a smart decision to do at launch
How is this different from the original K400 i've had for over a year now.
Hey Lon, does it work on Raspberry Pi ???
Thanks in advances
+Bugkiller666 I've seen the older version (K400) working on the Pi, so I'm sure this will work fine!
+Martin Paoloni - Thanks Martin !!
Wow, great technical "how-to" presentation. I vote this guy runs US education from now on.
Can I control my bluetooth enabled android mobile with this keyboard without having receiver or dongle ?
Does it work on that Raspberry behind you? Thanks for the review.
?How can I make a print screen with this keyboard
hello, Lon. or whoever have the keyboard already. can someon testify how's the noise of the keys? is it loud? my concern is i work graveyard and our room is just small so I want a cheap but quiet keyboard. thanks
Mine won’t turn on?? I put in the batteries, I stuck the usb inside, but nothing
Is it possible to plug the keyboard in? So that I don't have to keep changing the batteries?
No wired mode unfortunately
Thanks for the great explanation :)did you tried it with ubuntu?? does it work on ubuntu?
Dinesh Suryawanshi no it does not work on that I've tried but you should use it on Windows or mac or Linux
First off, love you reviews! Second, will this work with the Steam Link for keyboard games?
+Lon Seidman I ordered one! Keep up the reviews!
Anybody could help me how to type a “-“ character on this connected to a Sony smart TV, specifically in the TV’s own browser?

This is the third video I watch for Logitech k400, but no one did a typing test sound at all...
Can i connect directly to the keyboard, without having to use the dongle?
no not at any cost
Is it compatible in a PC with Windows 10?
Just bought this amd its still selling for £30 so must be a decent product

+Dean Johnson It works. I have one.

In India they charge 50 usd for this keyboard. I wonder why get such pricing here!
