  • In this video we will learn how to mine NiceHash algorithms using HiveOS. While it is easy, the steps have changed slightly over time and can create a few hiccups when trying to get your miners setup. We will also discuss profit switching along with some of the options to do that.

    • @HashRaptor
      @HashRaptor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, it is most probably the overclock settings. What I do is just keep dialing them back and usually memory seems to be the culprit. Go ultra conservative if you need to, and start with your percentage at 100 shares. Then bump it out to an hour and then 24 hours. Good luck my friend!

    • @HashRaptor

      On NVIDIA cards they are identical, you just need to know the OC you want to set in the NHOS json file. I set the OC's identical to hive and the NHOS hashrate was the same. As for AMD, you don't have as many OC options in NHOS as you do in Hive, so I couldn't get team Red as efficient as I could in HIve. Hope that helps. Take care!

      Hash Raptor actually it’s pretty much like hive nice webgui and free for 1 rig ( worker they all it) up to 15 gpus i thing. It has a benchmark future where you select the miners and algorithms you want to benchmark. After that you can put in the algorithms you want to switch and select the benchmark to fill out the hashrates. But on there web they have videos for anything you can imagine. For now I am really happy since i have bin adding cards to my rigs and NHoS forced me to go to the hole overclocking process over again. The only difference i found till now is that all cards must mine the same. In hive or nhos you can mine for example eth on some cards and MTP or something on others, but in my case its not a problem since al cards have pretty much the same hash-rates on all algorithms.

    How often should you be getting a pay out? I've set it up similar to this to mine Kawpow thru nicehash on hive os but my rig is not showing on nicehash and there is been no deposit to the BTC address my rigs been running for about 10 hours. The only thing I can see that is different is my window didn't have global because I setup the wallet on a dual mine setup within the rig.

      @@HashRaptor The issues was that nice hash instructions say to use your btc mining address which is confusing because you have a btc wallet address and then there is a mining address you need to use the mining address not your BTC wallet address like the instructions leads you to believe. I sorted it out but I lost 1 day of mining.

    You can edit the config in NIceHashOS, but it's a pain. Have to pull your usb and change in the file. HiveOS is much easier.

    I can run it for a few minutes, it will kick a few sats into my nicehash wallet, then out of no-where I get kicked out and my system is rebooted. I set logs-on and will review it here in a minute. I imagine a card I flashed maybe junk, hoping not but like I said it did work for a few minutes. Any idea as to what I can do to revive a dead card? these are rx-580s.

    I came from mining on nicehash for over a year to trying out hiveos. It was a total nightmare for 2 weeks. Balena Etcher burned up 5 of my usb flash drives, I tried writing thiveos to ssd, now that no longer works. I spent the day installing windows and nicehash back on the rigs and everything is running smoothly. I wanted to like hiveos, but it has some serious issues :(

    I did not understand what is Nicehash and how it is different from mining in pools normally.
    Can anyone explain ?

    • @HashRaptor
      @HashRaptor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So Nicehash is a broker where you can mine to and get paide in bitcoin. So think of it as a pool, where you can mine but only get paid out in BTC. Simple answer hope that helps.

      @@HashRaptor Wow. Thanks for the reply Hash Raptor.
      Between normal eth mining and ethash mining with Nicehash which one is more profitable. I think it is normal eth mining (based on what to mine) .
      What are pros of choosing nicehash ?
      And what do you think is the most profitable pool for mining etherium.

    Isn't all that on Linux ? I started to on my fifth rig to do a linux build around 11.10.16 and quickly realized I wasn't smart enough yet to even install the video card driver on Linux; and did a bee line to Kinguin and snagged a ten dollar UK Windows key and just rolled with that.
    I need to get around to watching some "how to" videos and get smart on it; so far something always seems to come up when I try to get to it; for the last three days now I have been looking for a needle in a haystack; keep getting an error: "Thread Stuck in Device Driver" .. it would be nice if they gave you a little more detail; like what freaking device or which dam driver; this is taking a little more effort than the "TDR Video Failure" error ..
    I even reinstalled the OS and then I got a bluescreen; "Something went wrong; you can try again" "OBERREGION" .. I was like OBER WTF !?! Well, that's new!
    Aaaaarrggg .. It's kind of like an adult Rubik's Cube! There a solution some where out there; just haven't thunk it yet!

      ahahaha, that is funny man. But sorry for the hassles. So the linux stuff is easy. You don't have to install drivers or anything like that. It is all prepackaged in one free image. I have a video on installing HiveOS and NicehashOS if you want to give it a try. You can leave your existing OS so you can switch back to windows at any time. All you need is a free 8gb or greater USB drive and you are set. Good luck!

      @@HashRaptor I will checkoout your vid on the subject matter; glad you got a laugh out of it; if you don't laugh it off to the universe playing with you; I would wind up going insane again; which has been the case a few times now; with a few long and horrifying bouts of sanity in between .. 😆
      I just got so use to working with Windows and its quirks to change them all over; I have enough parts laying around to make another X8 GPU Rig and could give it a go on that one.; but have just been so busy tinkering with X8 FPGA miners to put it together; the spare parts just come in handy having the shelf stock to switch out quick if something flips out; then I have time to trouble shoot that part w/o extended rig down time.
      Well, I am down to slapping a new ssd drive in this trouble maker; and if that isn't a 100% solution; the last two items to swap out is the cpu, and then mother board; and I am starting to lean towards the cpu; which luckily I have extra on hand of both; whats not great about having spare parts just laying around is the wife fussing about them laying around.. lol.

      For only the purpose of mining watch the videos by HashRaptor. Generally though with very little search at sites with progrmaming q&a such as stack overflow etc you can solve 95% problems for simple stuff that you will face in linux with 4 commands, figure of speech and any error it throughs just google it and you will find how to "try" fix it . Indeed is a hassle until you get the grasp. Talking though from a programmers background; meaning that maybe it is not worth your time for looking for troubleshooting linux if there is not the case that you will use it in depth and in general, later. Nobody remembers all the commands on the top of their head they just know where to look for them again.

      @@emmanouildeoudes5846 thanks for your insights and reply; since the time I wrote that initial comment nine months ago; I built Linux based system on Unbuntu 20.4 LTS; and managed to get some updates and packages installed; but still only use it on a limited basis; I tried mining on it, and it was mining; but couldn't find the terminal that shows the mining satistics; but I knew it was mining because it showed on the pool dashboard and the cards heated up; so for now I use it for watching amazon prime videos; and youtube tv; and oddly enough a coupon code showed up to get 80% off a Mastering Linux Udemy 11 hour video instruction course; so I paid like $8 bucks and and now just need to take the time to plant myself in a chair long enough to absorb the content; I also setup smos on one rig and it perfroms extremely well; matter of fact I plugged in a few Innosilicon A4+ Scrypt miners back in to earn Litecoin to feed SMOS; becaue that is what SMOS prefers to snack on to keep running; conversation, it costs about $2 bucks a month; I guess a lot of people use hiveOS because you get a free rig; but I plan to detox five more rigs from windows and get them hooked on smos too.
