I've only had valheim for like 3 4 days and after playing so many survival builders, I have to say, valheims snap tech with building components is legit next tier. The stuff I've seen built before I got my hands on the game to try it astounds me how such what seems like little building model content there is, there's so many options because the snap logic is so easy and rudimentary. I love it. Also that and the land manipulation. Imw creating a coastal indy kingdom where as I expand down the coast I'm emptying the hills of black forest of all its resources then turning the hills into terraces. I think the land manipulation aspect is what is making this so much fun. I do love how the survival aspects with your stats bars is just around food. Some games are really indents with it, like scum, which I really love, but isn't as casual as I'd like sometimes. I mean it's survival fraction, you're bound to spend a good chunk of your day playing right, might as well enjoy the game. Then it's also difficult. I'm playing solo almost fully blind. But so far, worth the money imo. I'm not much of a creative person visually so I need a bit of help of design ideas or my stuff looks like a child got crayons for the first time. So bad. Love the video. Thanks for the tip about odd numbers.
There's so many build tips videos in my recommendations, so I always play a little game: if there's at least one tip that I didn't know, the vid gets an upvote. In this case, that was making your windows stick out. Not sure how I didn't think of this myself, but hey, who cares, I've got it in my toolbox now. Thx!
For even numbered roof sections I tend to use a mix of 40 degree and 26 degree so that when you meet in the middle there is a height difference on the 2 sides. This can be joined by cross beams or carved darkwood dividers. This make a really nice looking non standard roof that can allow any smoke out all along its ridge. Give it a try sometime you may find it gives a really cool look to the building.
Roofs are always intimidating for me…I’ll make a huge, unique and awesome looking home or dock but the more rooms and angles I implement, the more disastrous the roof looks…This video has helped a lot, thanks man. 🤘
Only just found this channel. Definitely getting a sub and a bell from me dude. My friend and I have just gotten into the game and are just discovering the snow Biome and how to build with stone. So even something as simple as building in odd numbers is a huge help. Keep up the content my man, much love! ❤️
Yeah I think the snap points can be tricky to get the hang off, if you miss place one somewhere the entire build doesn't line lol but glad you got something from it!
You have a (genuinely) nice channel - I've learned so much already, and I've barely scratched the surface of your content so far. Your tips were original and creative, and really thoughtfully explained. So helpful! Thanks for sharing, and keep it up, seriously! I want to see more! :D
If you are doing even numbers you use a clearstory. It can be a much better looking building, You don't have to have a chimney. just make sure you start the clearstory 2 high.
I'm just half way through but I had to log in to congratulate you on this excellent video. It's straight to the point and you have actually something to say that's not trivial, at least not for me (heard the word "definition" 378192 times in my life but not yet in this context, am not a native speaker though). Thanks very much!
Thank you for that :) and alot of people tend give bad advice with click bait titles haha I thought about long hard what I actually do to make a builds look decent. But I'm glad you got something from it :)
lol.. at 4:54 it absolutely and undeniably sounds like you are busting a line. Normal sniffle is one thing, but the exhale at the end of it makes it sound like you are getting some nose candy action. 😆😆😆. Not saying you are , but wow it sure does sound like it. *wink* Cheers !
@@itskxrda7080 It depends... if you like your building have a bit of an overhang around the edges, it's really nice to use an odd roof on an even building... then you get a half roof overhang rather than a full one, which can look a bit too bulky.
I'm just horrible at visualizing bases. I don't want anything pretty I just want it practical. I made a great main base but then hit iron age. So much more crap I need to put in my base and now it looks cramped and not efficient. Can you maybe do a video of a setup that's maybe not pretty but efficient with the ability to expand? Just need an idea
You could make an asymmetrical entrance. Maybe have a piece of the house sticking out for the entrance. Asymmetry can make things feel more organic, which could look really nice if done right. Or use the 1meter pieces to mame symmetrical off set pieces to make the doors fit. The Limitations of Valheim's building system can lead to the most creativity
Well you could always clear your tasks and cookies then use a couple of the mods for optimization. There's a few guys on my server that use low end machines and run them to help get better gameplay
Is it assumed everyones beats the game before wanting to know how to build or am I missing something. Cause it really seems like every building tips video starts with guys using stone cutters. Let me guess, it's important to use tar for building as well, since shingle rooves look so much better.
well the games only half way made so no one has really beaten the game yet lol and this is TIPS to build like a PRO not to build like a beginner. and yes tar shingles look 1000x better than thatch lol
@@UnknownFactions thanks tips, sure I never could of figured this out on my own. Maybe next week you can give me ten tips on how to chew before swallowing, or maybe breathing and blinking at the same time.
"So first you start by placing stone" no shit man, cause I was really thinking I'd place it on wood pillars. Want a pro tip, you cant get a snap point, place a piece close to it, get the snap point amd delete the previous piece. That tip alone, can be given at any stage and massively helps to secure a nice looking build.
@@Sinaduel lmao 🤣 next week I'll teach you how to be less salty haha placing stone wasn't a tip, that's called narrating... nuff said my salty friend 🤪

Sorry for the late response. To answer your question to be able to use all 3 roofing tiles /^\ you need odd numbers otherwise you can use the center roofing tile.
Sorry but the odd or even excuse makes 0 sense lmao odd numbers doesn't make building easier. If anything it makes it more awkward when you're building walls and if you're offsetting walls it's even more of a hassle. Why would you ever say odd building is better without giving a good reason other than not being able to put a cap on the roof 🤣 like what bro make it make sense lil dawg

Great tips as usual. Shelves, they add so much usage to a house for putting things.
ty :) and they really do, plus it helps fill that empty void in any build that's larger than a studio apartment lmao

Dude! Thanks for the awesome tips. I haven't even tried to build in circular patterns yet and it looks amazing!
Of course bro, and they're easy to do once you know the right way to do it haha 😄
Don't mind my horrible audio editing in this video.... possibly one too many shots of bourbon during that process haha :)

Very Cool esthetics!
You can use the center ones if you build with even. You just need the cross up and free place against it. :)
Exactly like the odd number is useless.

blows my mind how people can get this good at building. I pretty much just use farms i find and repair them.

Odd numbers for foundation screw you out of double doors though 🤔

Some of your building techniques and vocabulary....do you work construction?
The fact you start your build with a foundation. and then go to say you can build a foundation with wood! Man.... I do the same thing.
