- Sub 4hr! 135th out of 3233 riders. 03:56:39 chip time. Racer tag 2963
First time filming with a chest mount, very restrictive with addition to the heartrate monitor. I should've tilted the Gopro a bit higher as well. When I go into an aero tuck, all you see is my top tube bag. For the next fondo, I'll talk to myself more so it won't just be breathing and grunting the whole way up! I'm not really happy with the video quality but at least I captured the whole thing. The Garmin Virb software lowers it substantially and max is 300gb upload.
Oh and yes, I did ride back the same day :)
Enjoy!

Hi Philip! Great video. What are you using for data overlay? Thank you
Wow! A youtube legend! I'm using Garmin Virb. I would recommend getting Gopro Telemetry as Garmin Virb is not that great but it is free.
@@xphiliptranx haha thanks Philip. Nice job on the race too!
Thanks man!
I was about 30m behind you at 1:58:48 for the cone incident. Caused a crash I just barely avoided. That was messed up, glad you got through. Thanks for the vid!
Those cones are the worst! Yes, thankfully it didn't anyone out
Thanks for the video! I was the one in front of you from the start in the gray and tan color Rapha jersey and pretty much throughout the first 10 mins of the video.
Very good job on sub 4's! I came in #401 and hope to get in sub 4's next year with better fueling strategy. This was my first time at the Whistler Granfondo and it was an awesome experience overall!
It's definitely doable! Hope to see you there next year!
@@xphiliptranx thanks! I will definitely plan to!
Awesome bro.great job.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great result! Really cool to see this perspective
It's nice seeing my noodle arms for 4 hours!
Found two of my buddies in your footage haha
Cool! What are the times they finished at?
Good video! Thanks for sharing
Nice POV!!
Thanks!
Thanks for posting! I’m in there somewhere 😂
I bet you are! Crazy amount of riders in this event!
192 bpm at 40K, crazy
It gets higher in crits! 200+
Hey Philip, did you have to change the battery of the GoPro during the race or was that all on a single charge?
I used a very small 10,000mah external battery. The cable ran from the GoPro, over the top of my jersey, then under my jersey to the back pockets. My jersey had a premade hole to the back pockets
@@xphiliptranx nice! Congrats on the video and ride BTW! 👏👏
Great video , and you did really well ,which place is this? Race ?
Thank you! This is the Whistler Gran Fondo in Vancouver, BC which runs in early September
Cool bro!!
✌
dude, your HR is at 196bpm and you're only 20min. into the race!? congrats on the sub 4 hr tho
It's a hammerfest up Taylor and all the way to Horseshoe Bay. That's where the fast group splits! Max effort!
Nice video and great finish time. What's your FTP and w/kg? My goal is to work towards a sub 4hr.
How do you get these settings on your GoPro?!
It's an overlay from Garmin Virb
194 bpm? Bro I never reach that, how do you even get to that, I would stop whatever I'm doing if I go above 180
Max effort!
I’m nearly 50 and I see 190+ fairly often.
don't they have any backroads up there?
Not really. Road riding around Vancouver is pretty poor. Good MTB though and really good MTB an hour away.
